go see leave children at home

    by

I really liked this movie and would have probably liked it a lot more if i wasnt surrounded by little kids yelling at the screen and asking questions about things almost the entire movie the visuals of this movie are amazing the story is really good as well and kind of violent i personally dont think this is a kid movie at all the main reason is i dont think they will understand the movie it is not a straight forward type of movie i dont want to really give away what goes on i just think by the questions the kids in the middle of my movie had to ask their parents that they will understand what happens but the movie for adults is great i definitely recommend seeing this

definitely as good looking as pi!

I'm going to be honest i wasn't the most excited for ang lee's life of pi and i will admit it's not the best movie ever but wow it is pure eye candy and on top of that the acting is outstanding!. 90 % of this movie is at sea and i thought i'd hate that but i didn't at all because this movie is just beautiful so of your invested in the story the location shouldn't really bother you. The thing i liked most about this movie is the relationship between pi and Richard parker ( the tiger) it was really interesting to see how they're so different but alike in somany ways. Oh and see this movie in 3D it will blow your mind! If all i said didn't convince you to see this movie than see it for the beautiful animals! 8.5/10

Not bad for an Ang Lee flick

    by pburris

As Ang Lee movies go, Life of Pi exceeded my expectations. Unlike Brokeback Mountain and Lust and Caution, Mr. Lee's adaptation of a good novel turned out to be, well...pretty good. Action kept moving for the most part, and the character of both Pi, a survivor of a shipwreck that claims his family and most of the animals in his father's zoo. The extent to which Mr. Lee captured the character of Richard Parker may be debated for years, given that he chose to render a tiger digitally, rather than wrangle a real live wild cat on a boat for months of shooting. Not that I blame him for that decision.

What I do blame Mr. Lee for is the same thing I always fault his work for exhibiting: too many lush, belly-button gazing interludes that contribute nothing to the movie and a treacly sentimentality that denudes viewers of any sympathy of the characters or their plight. I went to see this one because i liked the book a lot and wondered what Mr. Lee could do with Yann Martel's material.

Great family movie. We saw it in 3D. It was worth it. My husband and both kids enjoyed it. I liked the way the story was told

    The Life of Pi

Wonderful, beautiful, sad, inspiring film!! Loved it. Loved the visuals, the music, the story, the whole idea. I loved the fact that there was no cynicism or irony but just a simple tale of belief, faith, and trust told in the most charming fashion. Very very refreshing indeed.

Don't worry about the kids "getting" it...

I am a huge Ang Lee fan. As a budding filmmaker years ago, I was lucky to have attended an indie filmmaking discussion/workshop that he held in NYC. I've seen his films many times over, so I was thrilled to be able to take my brother's kids--11 year old twins and a 13 year old--to watch a Lee film they already wanted to see.

"The Life of Pi" was really engaging and beautiful--from the cinematography to the storyline to the actors' performances. Having never read the book, I felt at a disadvantage going in, but again, it's an Ang Lee film. What I wasn't prepared for was the strong spiritual content--even though I consider myself spiritually in the same way that Pi, the lead character, was connected to different faiths.

I was touched spiritually and loved what I was watching, but I kept wondering how the kids were seeing the film. I realized afterward I think too much. They got it--each interpreted the story (or stories) in their own way--and that's the most important thing here.

    Life Of Pi Review

    by

I thought the film was a beautiful journey, through faith, tragedy, family, loss and religion. The screen was amazing, the 3D was used perfectly. "Richard Parker broke my heart".

Do not read if you do not want spoilers: I read the book and did a lot of t thinking about it, and I listened to interviews with the author. The moral of the story is meant to be debated somewhat, but the essence of Yan Martel's tale is that: Faith allows humans to cope and deal with life, it provides hope and answers to why bad things happen. Looking at life without faith one draws no hope and gets no answers. Your only left with sorrow and unanswered questions. SO between the the two Story's told in the movie, WE choose the better story, the right story, in other words we choose to believe.

    Life of PI

Wonderful movie with incredible color and visuals. The story was good with an ending that leaves you wondering...hmmm! The acting was great, funny, touching and would appeal to most everyone. This was the first 3D movie I've seen since I was but a bit of a lass and I would absolutely recommend seeing this movie.

Food for Your Eyes AND Mind

The draw to this movie for me was what I have been hearing about it's visual beauty, but I found that if offered immense food for thought, which for me, is always a measure of the quality of a film, book, song, etc.

    beautiful to see

    by pdofak

Very visual storytelling because Claudio is a very expressive visual artist. I loved seeing it.
I also loved what some didn't care for, the story ambiguities. It lets your imagination fill in parts and that makes it all the more entertaining.
3D done well. Totally worthy of your time in the theater. See you there!

Life of Pi 3D is engrossing!

Life of Pi 3D is magnificent visually; the music is thrilling; the acting was wonderful; the story was magic. Suraj Sharma, with the skilled direction of Ang Lee, should win an Academy Award.

    Beautiful, moving, thoughtful

This movie really made me think. It was majestically done and I really connected to the main character. Loved the cinematography, and the special effects were some of the best I've seen. The tiger looked extremely real. Couldn't tell the difference between CGi and real life.

Go! You won't regret it. For a PG movie, it really pulled its own weight.

Although, Life of Pi does seem to be one of those movies you have to be in the right mood in to see. Might not appeal to every audience, but seems to fit me; male college student.
