    Irrational number

Cinematrographically gorgeous, philosophically and theologically provocative, this movie will keep the thoughtful person engaged, on several levels, long after he/she has left the theater. Aside from being an enjoyable experience, the movie raises questions about the ultimate value of a thoroughly rational approach to dealing with life's vicissitudes (hence, I think, the titular reference to the mathematical constant, pi). Definitely two hours and five minutes well spent.

    Not to be missed

If you have only one movie to see this holiday season, make it this one. Ang Lee's genius directorial skills combine with superb acting, lush cinematography, and awesome special effects to make for a not-to-be-missed entertainment experience.

    Life of Pi Visit #2

This movie is amazing. If you haven't seen it... you NEED to see it! It will tug at your heart strings and amaze you visually. The story is fantastic! If you don't have at least a heavy feeling in your chest or at least one tear... I'm pretty sure you're dead inside. Wonderful story of Love, Loss, Survival, Discovery, Courage and Imagination. This is the second time I've seen it in theaters... I took even more away from it with me the second time... and I may go again. The only other movie I visited more than twice in the theaters was Avatar. Just saying... its an amazing movie! Go See It!

    The Photogenic Memory

You can't do very much about what happens to you. But you can do a great deal about how you interpret the events. That's Pi. Enjoy the movie.

    Life of Pi 3D

This is a must see movie. A fantastic production for all ages. I loved it. It is one of the rare instances when the movie is actually better than the book.

I was skeptical, now I am a believer!

    by

I have been a fan of the novel for ten years, and I was always on the fence about a translation to film; would it retain its descriptive beauty, will the movies more subtle moments be replaced with typical movie action? Most importantly, will the overall message of the book be lost in a big budget Hollywood production? I am happy to say that the movie exceeds in many aspects, and even surpasses the book in others. I always had to use my imagination to describe the incredible wonders Pi must have seen in his journey, but Ang Lee has taken the guess work out of the book and created a beautifully affecting work of cinema. This movie will make you question your own life, the trials you are sometimes thrust into, and how your actions affect your every waking moment. Go see this movie with an open mind, and you will not come away without understanding yourself in some new way. Also, Richard Parker? Best onscreen animal, ever!

    Just Beautiful

    by

My wife and I went to see a late showing of the "Life of Pi 3D" last night. More so than any 3D film that I have seen to date, director Ang Lee brings the technology to heretofore unseen level of artistry. The power of it is not that you are reminded that things will "pop out at you" (something I find cloying in many 3D films), but instead that you are drawn into the often ethereal imagery. To over-simplify, it's as if the film pulls you in, rather than jumping out at you. There is more to it than that, of course. Ang Lee is one the finest directors alive today and the man knows how to tell a story. This is no exception. I loved the book and am happy to say that he did it justice in this adaptation.

    Life of Pi

Had just finished listening to the book on audio in anticipation of seeing the movie. A beautiful adaptation of the book--visually stunning. Captures the philosophical layers of the story--it is a story that makes one think of the nature of perception and reality, the balance between the soul truth of the natural world and the spiritual systems and constructions of humans. I probably would want to see it again just to take it all in. I hope it will succeed at the box office--it is not a typical movie in any way. Breathtaking!

    "Life of Pi" scores

    by Billy58

I thoroughly enjoyed this book when I read it several years ago. The movie doesn't disappoint. Ang Lee does a masterful job of telling the story, and it's not all due to the CG tiger. It's a beautifully constructed and photographed movie. The acting is first-rate. This movie is worth your time and money!!

go see leave children at home

    by

I really liked this movie and would have probably liked it a lot more if i wasnt surrounded by little kids yelling at the screen and asking questions about things almost the entire movie the visuals of this movie are amazing the story is really good as well and kind of violent i personally dont think this is a kid movie at all the main reason is i dont think they will understand the movie it is not a straight forward type of movie i dont want to really give away what goes on i just think by the questions the kids in the middle of my movie had to ask their parents that they will understand what happens but the movie for adults is great i definitely recommend seeing this

A truly beautiful movie! The life's lessons taught in this movie are timeless. The acting, action, scenery were all outstanding. One of my top ten movies of the year.

    Visually pleasing

    by gbbg

I haven't read the book but trusted the movie would stand its ground in explaining it by itself. Well almost. I might have missed something here but reading the book would give a little context to some situations in the movie.

That said, the ending wouldn't have been that interesting if I'd read the book.

    Visually pleasing, well-made movie.
