Nothing short of gorgeous and genius!

This is only the third film I've ever seen that I give a 10 on my own personal 10 scale. The other two being "Pulp Fiction" and "Argo". This is so much more than just a film about physical survival. It's about spiritual evolution and spiritual survival. It's about beauty, friendship, the power and necessity of faith, family and the love of all of the above. Ang Lee's direction is flawless, never leaving gaps where interest can wane. The 3D effects are never hokey or gimmicky. They are completely immersive and easy on the eyes. It's similar in feel, aesthetically, to "Avatar" without feeling like a copy. This film is far more intellectual than "Avatar", but does draw a few comparisons simply by look. Definitely a theater must-see!

    Life of Pi

There were four of us who went, and we all loved Life of Pi. It is visually beautiful and transports you into a magical world. The animals were amazing--I kept wondering how they possibly made the movie and could not tell when they used live animals and when they used animation. The actor playing Pi on his journey was especially good. The portrayal of the family is very believable and not overstated. There is a part in the middle where it gets a little long but it is definitely worth seeing. I found it beautiful and moving and as I often do, I really liked Ang Lee's direction. There were children in the audience but I think it is not appropriate for younger children because there are some scary and violent parts--not many but enough to scare a child. But I do recommend it for children over 10, teens and adults.

    Unusual, Fantasy and Epic

It is amazing story, full color, epic, and especially with 3-D is good. My son really likes it and I love it, none of us get bored but an eyes opener for us! None of us dare to take a break!

Visually amazing movie - great use of 3D to enhance - uplifting story

While dramas are not my cup of tea, I have to admit that this movie is very compelling, from both a visual and narrative standpoint. Some of the imagery is very breathtaking and the director uses the 3D to really immerse you in the story.

    Life Of Pi Review

    by

I thought the film was a beautiful journey, through faith, tragedy, family, loss and religion. The screen was amazing, the 3D was used perfectly. "Richard Parker broke my heart".

Do not read if you do not want spoilers: I read the book and did a lot of t thinking about it, and I listened to interviews with the author. The moral of the story is meant to be debated somewhat, but the essence of Yan Martel's tale is that: Faith allows humans to cope and deal with life, it provides hope and answers to why bad things happen. Looking at life without faith one draws no hope and gets no answers. Your only left with sorrow and unanswered questions. SO between the the two Story's told in the movie, WE choose the better story, the right story, in other words we choose to believe.

    Visually Stunning

The Life of Pi is an excellent movie. While it is somewhat new age in its approach to religion, the concept of turning to God for help is a real strength of the message of the movie. See the movie in 3D! While I have not seem the 2D version, I cannot imagine the visual effects having the same impact as the 3D version. This was a beautifully made movie, with visually stunning effects. A must see!

    Wow

    by asaland

Just an incredible movie. Visually stunning (I saw the 3D version with the kids), compelling story, and impeccable acting. One of the best movies I've seen in years. Both of my kids loved this movie, though I'd say a few scenes in the first half of the movie were pretty intense for my 6 year old daughter. She had to turn her head a few times. That said, both children absolutely loved it by the end, and walked away in amazement at the experience.

Side note: If you're going to see this in 3D, do yourself a favor and catch the early matinee before noon... I saw this in NYC with my children and it cost a small fortune...

    was ANY of it real?

solid flick that would've been more suspenseful if it wasn't told in flashback. 3D greatly enhanced the exceptional cinematography. the ending was quite thought-provoking. all in all, a worthwhile film.

Excellent Visuals and Great Story Telling

Though you know the outcome of the story, this movie does a great job unfolding the stories with stunning visuals. Some interesting twists at the end. The three D is well done, adding to the story not just there to show off the technology.

    Awesome

    by kjloos

This is one of the greatest movies that I have seen in a long time. Not only does strike a chord with our inner spiritual nature. I was philosophical, beautiful, insightful, and touching.

All in all, a wonderful movie from all angles.

The boy's character is designed to demonstrate how to survive in the life with a real deal. I liked it and the screening was awesome. Total marks to it.

    Beautiful work of art

    by ss15

In my opinion, this film deserves best picture of the year. This is what filmmaking is about. It was artful and told a beautiful story. It gets you to think and asks you questions, unlike any of the other best picture nominees this year. I can't believe Argo is getting so much recognition over this. Ang Lee did a phenomenal job, Argo is just another film in my opinion. I am rooting for Life of Pi for many Academy Awards this year. This is a must-see for sure.

Intriguing movie with spectacular cinematography. Excellent casting and characterizations throughout. Very original screenplay, highly creative although sometimes a bit of a stretch of belleveability. Overall, highly recommended.
