    Touching... Poignant

Didn't even know what the story was about going into the film, just knew that it had really nice special effects...and it won an Oscar. Loved it...some of those beautiful images still swimming in my imagination...

    by rt135

I am sure you already know a lot about this movie by reading other reviews. But it is one thing to read about it and another to do and see it for yourself! This movie is so different and I have never seen a movie like this. It is so original, so beautiful and so breathtaking. This movie makes you want to pray and travel. It brings out so much inspiration and makes you appreciate your own life and your pets! beautiful movie. must see. Oh, and it also brings back faith.

"Life of Pi" should be called "The Glorious Life of Pi"

We loved this movie. I've read the book several times and was so happy that they followed the book so closely. All they left out that I could see was the hilarious conversation between the Japanese insurance men but that was okay. I highly recommend seeing it in 3D as the beauty of nature is so emphasized. Not for young children as the tiger would scare them.

    Engaging and provoking

    by LissaW

This is not a run-of-the-mill story, but an exercise in fantasy and metaphysics. I feel like I've spent a week in a lifeboat with a tiger, or God, I'm not sure.

I recommend the 3-D version to enhance your immersion.

Beyond what I thought could be done

This was magical. I have read the book, never would I have thought the movie could not only capture, but so totally enhance it, as to be magical. Brilliant work by Ang Lee...

See it, but think twice about taking younger kids

    by lewsie

Very good movie, but may not be right for younger kids, I could see them getting bored, plus there are a couple of scenes that could be frightening. My 14 year old covered her eyes at one point. Other than that, she did enjoy it. Easy to get wrapped up in this one.

    Oscar worthy

Upon hearing that this book was soon to be released as a movie I borrowed and read it, enjoying every single page.
Seeing the film with my 11 year old son far exceeded any expectation about how well the film would live up to the book and allayed any fear I had about the suitability of the content for my son. He loved the film as did I.
The music and atmospheres are thoroughly enchanting and transporting, the special effects are so well done that you would not know they are not live action footage- which is saying something with a 750 pound tiger named Richard Parker sharing a 36 foot lifeboat with a humble and devout teenage boy in a flying fish storm.
I highly recommend this film for anyone who honors human seeking and the mysteries of nature. I hope it goes home with Oscar's honor.

    Life of Pi

I loved this movie--I loved the story, the way it's told, and the creativity of the filming and touches of fantasy.

The tiger burns bright and is terribly scary, so don't think it would be right for children under 8--but I encourage everyone else to see it.

Life of Pi - Uplifting if you have patience

Visually stunning. And a profound examination of faith, awareness, and the choice we all have. It will take a serious mind to appreciate the intellect of this movie. Animal lovers may find it difficult to enjoy this movie. If you're a "seeker" of the meaning of life, the Life of Pi is for you!

    Life of Pi

It was a wonderfully moving story. I saw it in the 3D version as I knew the scenery was going to be beautiful. It definitely was the right choice. The production, directing and cinematography was outstanding. Ang Lee is a master at his craft and the actor who played Pi was fantastic beyond words. It was a long movie, but it was so filled with action, it didn't seem long at all. My eyes filled with tears several times. It is my opinion that, at next year's Oscars, we will be hearing "Life of Pi" being nominated for awards in many of the categories. I feel this movie is appropriate for adults and children alike. I'd probably prepare young children that several of the animal scenes might be scarey to them. I'd definitely say this movie is a "Must See".

    Pondicherri Pi

I read the book months ago and loved it but imagined it to be cinematically impossible. Ang Lee
brought it to life beyond my own visualizations, incorporating the despair, the resourcefulness,
the magic, my love and repect for the directness of the animal world, the unpredictability of the spirit, value and the creation of a good story, and the layers of the spiritual journey. I see it as a masterpiece, written by a master and filmed by one. Magnificent!!!

    Good story telling

    by Sumukha

Since I did not read the book, I didn't go in with any expectations. Also since I wasn't looking for god in the movie, I didn't find it.
    Plus
    Good story telling
    Great acting
    Amazing CGI

Above all Ang Lee is brilliant.

    negative
The parts where the adult pi is recounting his story didn't work too well.
All that searching for god in the young Pi's childhood is quite cliche. Have seen thousand other Indian movies addressing this. nothing new.

If you really go in to find god, you might actually come out with a disbelief in god......
