    Life Of Pi

Didn't know much about this movie before agreeing to see it with friends. This is one of those movies that, after seeing it, I'm still not sure if I like it. THe plot is well connected,
acting is well done and the cinematography is at times stunning. 3-D is not required to enjoy this movie. The plot and certain violent scenes may be unsettling to very small children. Any adolescent and older only should see this.

The unexpected plot twist come so late in the movie that many viewers will have already formed an opinion of the movie. Shifting one's opinion of the movie becomes unsettling so late but otherwise the twist won't diminish the enjoyment.

Definitely worth the ticket price bout probably won't buy the DVD simply because I won't need to be reminded of this movie by seeing it again.

    No Lyin'

One of those special films where the credits start to roll and nobody gets up.
I read this book and felt it would be very hard to film so I was very appreciative of Ang Lee;s treatment. Saw it in 3D, though that is I'm sure not necessary. The cinematography is incredible. If this film doesn't win Oscars, I'm having truble speculating what will.

Ang Lee works magic with the "Director Pet Peeves" of Water, Children and Animals

    by sjur03

Technology has come a long way and it is evident in Life of Pi, a book which was deemed impossible to film, but Ang Lee has proved them wrong with his brilliant adaptation of David Magee's script. The picture is so clear and in 3D that is it literally like staring out a window into the crazy adventure of this kid who survives a shipwreck.

    Touching... Poignant

Didn't even know what the story was about going into the film, just knew that it had really nice special effects...and it won an Oscar. Loved it...some of those beautiful images still swimming in my imagination...

Pi was in that boat too long

    by bartab

This is another movie that when you see the trailer you can?t wait to see the movie. Then when you see the movie and you are disappointed as I was. The 3D was just ok .Not worth the extra price.Ok it was an interesting story with some great special effects.I just thought it was too long .I think Pi was in that lifeboat too long. Some of the lifeboat scenes were repetitious .All this could have been done with a half hour of the movie edited out. There were a lot of children in the movie the day I saw it.None of them seem awed. After about an hour you can see people getting restless. This movie did not live up to its? expectations.

    Magical Movie-Going Experience; A Must-See in 3D

The son of an Indian zookeeper is shipwrecked on a lifeboat with a bengal tiger. His story of survival for 227 days at sea is a reflection on life, death, and the power of faith. Visually stunning, this movie has the best use of 3D effect ever (even better than last year's Hugo) and the story itself is very engrossing. If you wait and make this a rental, you will missing out on one of the most magical movie-going experiences this year. A must-see in 3D.

    Life of Pi

Excellent movie. I read the book before going to the movie, and was amazed at how well it captured the tone and message of the book. Great special effects and you have to see this in 3-D on the big screen. Go now!

    Brilliant Allegory

We all know that movies are made of dreams and, contrary to common belief, dreams/movies/?reality? shows are NOT meant to reflect reality.
They may, however reflect principles, driving forces and systems that affect reality. And such is the stuff of Life of Pi. A brilliant allegory for the struggles we must all overcome to become our best self. The universal god is explored, the challenges of becoming are explored and the path to growth is illuminated.
If you love eye candy, an excellently told story, and thought-provoking story lines, don?t miss Life of Pi!

Well done, touching and thought provoking movie

This movie was much more than I ever expected. I read the book 35 years ago and did a book report. To see the written words come alive in 3D was a great experience.

    Life of Pi (3D version)

Wow....this was the best movie I have seen during my four decades living on the planet! I'd watched the 3D version of 'Life of Pi' with my best friend. The special effects were absolutely phenomenal! Be prepared to jump out of your seat while being mesmerized by the graphics. I would recommend this movie to anyone age 12 and up. I can't give any cool aspects of the movie away but, in my opinion, kids under 12 may not be prepared for certain subject material presented in this movie, as it is extremely intense, mentally speaking. The storyline is creative on a level almost unimaginable. You will leave the theatre wondering how you could ever take anything in life for granted afterward. It had a level of beauty to it that seemed unreal until you see it for yourself. The acting and storyline flowed perfectly. Enjoy!!

    Unbelievable cinematography

    by

While my husband and I thought Argo was a very good movie, Life of Pi should have won Best Picture. The story is thoughtful and stayed with us through the evening. The acting is so on point that it doesn't seem like acting: we felt like we were sitting at the kitchen table with the writer as Pi told his story. The visuals were unbelievable. See this in a theater in 3D while you can!

    Life of Pi

Very exciting, beautiful scenery, and best of all ---- very close to the book! I read this novel twice in the past few years and was very curious how it could be on film. It was done with perfection!!!

    Thanks.

All tyfpes of emotions are required to really appreciate this movie. I experienced frustration, victory, need, determination, but above all, it left me contemplating all the underlying meaning behind this touching story.

    Surprisingly depressing

    by the_wiz

There is much to love in this movie -- fantastic acting, breathtaking cinematography and stunning CGI, an engrossing story. There is also much discussion of finding God and of religion itself, but at the same time the film is filled with suffering, sadness, loss, and constant exposure to the "rule of tooth and fang." The film slowly advanced into a mix of realism and surrealism, leaving me to wonder what is real and what is not, and then left me wondering -- as the writer and directly clearly intended -- which interpretation I preferred. In the end, though, I found I preferred neither, because both left me depressed and what I had seen, about life, about religion, and the concept of God. This film was spectacular to watch (I saw it in 3D but the 3D didn't add much, in my humble opinion) but unsatisfying and surprisingly depressing.
PS: Definitely not for young children.

    Live of Pi 3D

For those movie goers who enjoy 3D and don't mind wearing the glasses Life of Pi 3D is for you. A beautiful tale of a young man who loses everything - country, home, first love, and family. In order to survive in the open sea, the young man must resort to his darker side. The struggle of good vs evil of survival vs extinction of innocence vs experience comprises plays out thematically throughout the film. Yet, the film is not bogged down with telling its message.
