A feel-good movie with many fun references to other horror movies. The kid is a Frankenstein, after all, do I need to say more? And the Russian science teacher drives a Trabant! Nice 3D effects w/o screaming in you face--"This a 3D movie!!!".

    Frankenweenie

I took my 11 year old grandson to see it. He like it a lot and I enjoyed the movie more than I thought I would. It being in black and white I thought, "How boring, we need to see it in 3D just to sit through it". It was more entertaining than I expected but still would have liked it better in color.

The plot was unbelievable but it was a kid's movie. My grandson said it was a little scary for him. He said the rat was the scariest for him.

All in all I would recommend it to my friends for their grandkids.

    Terrific movie!

My daughter and I really enjoyed this movie! I was laughing alot of the time because of the characters they used. Pretty ingenius. For me, it was worth going just to hear Winona sing for the first time..I love that woman..she was on key whole time! What a woman..what a movie!

    Frankenweenie Way Too Scary

I would never recommend this for anybody under 8 or so. My daughter is six and was sobbing at the two deaths of Sparky and the horrible monsters. We saw it in 3D which made it even worse. We left the theater once to go to the bathroom after she was crying, and I told her we'd give it one more try. Forget it. After Sparky's second death, we were done. We missed the happy ending, but it should never have been marketed for young children. It wasn't nearly as cute or funny as the trailer made it out to seem. Go see Hotel Transylvania instead; it's a winner!

    Classic Burton Work

This is the perfect movie for the Halloween season. While it does have its sad moments and concepts, it is definitely an entertaining 3D experience with classic Burton atmosphere and characters. The entire movie is black and white to give it that vintage horror look.

    Entertaining for all

Highly entertaining with the typical Tim Burton sense of humor. There are many little references and nuances within that make it even more fun. It's all around a fun movie for everyone of every age.

Good movie but some complex themes for little kids

    by

Love Tim Burton and my 9 year old does too. She doesn't mind the creepiness of his movies...usually. But her problem with this movie was with the dog dying (which is realistically portrayed so it really hits home with you) and that the sadness of that event keeps being revisited over and over, so you never really get over it. Even though the dog is "revived" and there are some funny parts in the movie, that sadness just kinda hangs over you. Even as an adult, I felt sad. I guess that means the movie did it's job by evoking a real emotion. But it's hard to explain that to your sobbing nine-year old. STILL, it is a great movie, well done motion-capture and the story (aside from the dead dog) has so many good lessons, about how fear breeds anger/violence/judgement/confusion, and even the importance of science in our schools. Loved Martin Landau as the science teacher! Glad we went to see it; not sure if we'll be buying it on DVD...no more sobbing kids, please.

    Don't miss it!

    by

The original Frankenweenie that came out in 1984 was a childhood favorite of mine and my 4 brothers. Seeing the new version made me ecstatic! I loved how close to the original it was! Way to go Burton!, not letting anyone take away from it! To think he got himself in poor favor with Disney over the original and now they see the genius that was behind it and let him run all over the place with this one! It may be a little crude and down-right disgusting in parts, but the beloved original story of a boy and his dog shine through and bring love and joy to your heart! A MUST SEE for all Tim Burton fans and fans of the original short movie!

It is a little scary for younger kids - 10 years ok, but glad I didn't take my 7 year old

My daughter is 10, and she enjoyed the movie - wasn't too scared. But she cried emotionally - Sparky is a good dog and goes through a lot, but come out ok in the end...but not without some tears. I thought is was a good movie - many great old characters are intertwined, which speaks to the adults in the audience.

    Not for young children

    by

I tried to take my 5-year-old daughter to see this, and we had to leave before it was over, as she was terrified of the "dead-pets-turned-into-monsters" near the end.

Took my granddaughter to see Frankinweenie. It was a very cute movie, we laughed, we cried and we jumped! She loved Sparky and I liked the poodle.

    Classic Tim Burton

    by Dlshow

Tim is back to his stop motion roots with this one. Not quite as good as NBC or Corpse Bride, but it's close. My son enjoyed it and so did I. I will buy the DVD when it comes out.

    Frankenweenie 3D!

    by

I went to this movie expecting to see a watered down, Disney verson of a Tim Burton masterpiece. However, Tim was not held back by Disney at all. The move had just enough of his macab sense of humor tied with memorable characters and talented voice overs. While this was not necessarily a movie I would take my 7 year old to, it was suitable for, say 10 on up. I give this film two enthusastic thumbs way up! Also the 3D effects were well placed and complimented the story well. You won't regret paying to see this on the big screen!

    Fantastic!

Ive never written a review and signed up specially for this movie. Its a GREAT film. Both myself and my daughter (7yrs old) enjoyed it immensely. The visual effects are amazing and the story so original that its hard not to see this nominated for an Oscar.
