    NOT FOR YOUNG KIDS

Amazing animation, quirky characters but way too sad and scary for little kids. Took five 10 year old gals and most were crying after the movie.

Depends of what you are looking for

If you are looking for an easy going, visually stunning animations, and hearth touching movie you are good to go with this movie.

If you are looking for some deep content, a conceptual movie, or a profound live lesson do not go, this movie was made with kids in mind and very simple in terms of content.

    Tender, cute!

Like it. 3D not needed. Could have waited for it on cable.

My husband and I enjoyed this movie. We both thought 3 D was lost o it, though (the previews were better). And, I know that the use of B&W was a creative choice, but frankly (weenie), I'm there to be entertained an not to wax poetic about film technique. The movie lagged in places. But, on the bright side, it's a smart film, and really funny. It's best if you know a little about the Frankenstein story or some of the jokes may be lost on you. It's sweet and dark, like good bittersweet chocolate. I only said so-so because I went 3D and like I said it's not "so" good that I coudn't have waited. But, if you have a few bucks and a couple of hours to spare you won't go wrong!

    frankenweenie

To see this movie you must first be a Tim Burton groupie. Mr Burton you have given us yet another masterpiece of humor, common sense and at times a tear in the eye. Bottomline: I LOVED THIS MOVIE! To all who did voices, especially Mr Landau(sp), a supurb job. Im off to see Hotel Transv....tomorrow. This is both well produced for adults as well as childern. Although childern would enjoy it much more. As an adult I loved escaping into the world of a child, thank you. I will purchase this on dvd not for any kids but for my library. I cant wait to get high and see it again.

A good addition to the Frankenstein library

    by

Another take on the Frankenstein story, well done as a film. My only quarrel is with how over stereotypical all the characters were. We had the smart Asian kid, the fat dumb kid, the fat mayor, the cute girl next door. The Igor replacement was perhaps the best original and most interesting character.

But, take a kid (I think ages 6 and up) - they will enjoy it.

    Simple, heartfelt and hilarious!

Frankenweenie is heartfelt, hilarious and decidedly Burtonesque. Tim Burton's signature character designs are fantastic and the film takes us through a wonderful homage to monster movies of old while conjuring up laughs and tears along the way. It's both a fantasy about dealing with the loss of a beloved pet, finding out that sensible is not always sensible and ultimately about love. It may not be oscar worthy, but it's a Tim Burton fantasy that fits into that universe perfectly and is just so much fun to watch!

    Frankenweenie Review

The movie is okay. I just think the black and white was not for kids as they didnt understand why there was no color. Also, it maybe a little misleading for small children to think all you have to do is plug your dead pet up to some car cables and it will be alive again.

    Wait for Netflix

    by QUiogue

Pretty lame. You can clearly see Disney's hand in it b/c they attempt to make Sparky as cute as Ole' yeller. I think all they have in the movie is that dumb dog barking and licking. Given how the dog never listens why would you ever re-animate it? I would also expect a bit more from Tim Burton. Maybe he peaked eons ago but there was no disturbing edginess to this at all. I think the highlite to me was guessing who the various characters were in real life (great Vincent Price BTW). Also there are two glaring errors that did not escape my 10 year olds eyes. First was the magically appearing swing set on the rook of the house and secondly Van Helsing was a vampire slayer not a frankenstein's monster chaser.

    Not Worth It

Saw Movie in 3D and that was a waste of money. There is nothing about the movie that 3D makes better. If you are going to see it wait until it is in a dollar theater, I thought the movie was boring and kind of flat. The story was weak and there were a few moments but not nearly enough. I expected more and was let down.

    Don't miss it!

    by

The original Frankenweenie that came out in 1984 was a childhood favorite of mine and my 4 brothers. Seeing the new version made me ecstatic! I loved how close to the original it was! Way to go Burton!, not letting anyone take away from it! To think he got himself in poor favor with Disney over the original and now they see the genius that was behind it and let him run all over the place with this one! It may be a little crude and down-right disgusting in parts, but the beloved original story of a boy and his dog shine through and bring love and joy to your heart! A MUST SEE for all Tim Burton fans and fans of the original short movie!

    Frankenweenie 3D Review

My husband and I just saw this movie last night in the movie theater. It was a very cute movie. I would not suggest having little ones see it. Some of the music and characters were scary for kids. But we enjoyed it. The movie was awesome in 3D- really made the movie much better. We didn't think that the entire movie would be in all black & white but it was. Very cool movie for the Halloween season. Highly recommended for Tim Burton fans or anyone who loves their dog.

    Really good story

...while at the same time having the sort of surreal creepiness that makes Tim Burton films so much fun, especially around Halloween! See it, great movie!

    Loved this movie

    by

We're huge fans of Tim Burton, and we couldn't wait to see this movie. Frankenweenie did not disappoint! It's an adorable story about a boy and his best friend. It's so well done, and throughout the film, there were nods to old sci-fi movies and characters. My whole family absolutely loved this film.

    Frankenweenie 3D!

    by

I went to this movie expecting to see a watered down, Disney verson of a Tim Burton masterpiece. However, Tim was not held back by Disney at all. The move had just enough of his macab sense of humor tied with memorable characters and talented voice overs. While this was not necessarily a movie I would take my 7 year old to, it was suitable for, say 10 on up. I give this film two enthusastic thumbs way up! Also the 3D effects were well placed and complimented the story well. You won't regret paying to see this on the big screen!

Nick_Chao Finished Frankenweenie. It was alright. Fairly entertaining but it doesn't stand out to me personally as a Burton highlight.
