    Wonderful!!! Simply wonderful!

For a LOTR fan, this scratches a very deep itch. It delivers all of the visual spectacle that I have come to love from this franchise, as well as a powerful and heartfelt story. For a movie running 169 minutes, the time flew by as I was sucked into a world in which I wanted to spend more time. The 3D experience was fantastic, as it allowed me to feel part of the story and especially enjoyable to have the experience of being able to virtually wander the Bilbo's Hobbit hole.

The Hobbit can be a Habit

My son and I saw it in 3D and thought it was a great movie. Prior to going, we saw the critics rated it So-So and they couldn't be more wrong. I was a little concerned regarding the 2 hour & 49 minute length, but the movie was so awesomely awesome, we just could not get enough.

Take yourself on a whimsical journey as the drawfs encounter a variety of enemies and other characters as they try to find their way to the Lonely Mountain.

We will be seeing it again

Not sure that the Hobbit deserves the full-on Jackson production

While it has been many years since I first read the Hobbit, which led me to read all of Tolkien's other books, I can't remember so much action taking place so rapidly as in this, the first installment of what is promised to be a 12-15 hour series of movies based on this relatively short pre-quel to the Lord of the Rings.

    The Hobbit

Excellent Movie, while it does not follow the book precisely the additions make it entertaining, fill in some holes the book leaves unanswered and it keeps the moving moving along. If you love the Lord of the Rings you'll Love this too!!

    The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

A must see; if for no other reason than to see a well done live action 3D. Most other films done with live characters and 3D are not as good as this one.
The plot stays pretty close to the book and the embelishments for the movie didn't distract from the book's plot.
If someone can't stand lots of action than they should pass on this movie. There is enough dialogue and plot development to ensure that one didn't need to read the book to know what was happening.

    This movie is amazing!

I went to the 3D showing of The Hobbit expecting great things and I wasn't disappointed. From the first view of Bag End to the last moment I was back in MIddle Earth and ready to be entertained. The action scenes were magnificent, everything so real I didn't know where to look. It will certainly take more than one viewing to truly appreciate the movie in its entirety.

Run, don't walk, to your nearest theatre. You won't be sorry! Bravo Peter Jackson and team for once again showing us the vast realms Tolkein created in all their glory.

    Perfection

I've read the book for The Hobbit 4 times in my life, and I MUST say that the movie was complete perfection. Because it is being split up into more than one movie, they didn't leave anything important out. They even added some extra "epicness" to make the film that much better. I absolutely LOVED this film and cannot wait for the next one.

    Unexpected!!

I loved this movie, and was pleasently suprised!! I thought it was the best in the LOTR series, and did not under stand a lot of critics harsh reviews of the film. I am a big Tolkien fan, and it was everything and more of what I was hoping for. Great movie, and a definite must see!!

    Excellent movie!

Loved it, loved the 3D, loved the cinematography, and I don't mind the tinkering with the story. I thoroughly enjoyed Radagast (though to be fair, I'm an old Whovian). I looked at my watch once, as they were leaving the Rivendell, but I was hoping it wasn't over, and it wasn't. Definitely a bit of a long pause, but it picked right back up again. Even if you're not a fan of the books, this was a visual feast worth seeing. My only complaint is the need to wait for the next one to come out.

    Hobbit

My 12 year old son saw this with friends and said it wasn't very good. Lots of parts could've been cut out. He had a hard time following the story.

    The Hobbit

The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many...
Went to the midnight show and loved it. It was so great to see favorite characters again and fun to meet the new ones. The movie flowed beautifully with the other LOTR pieces. The amazing sets and familiar score worked seamlessly with the series. Martin Freeman was a wonderful Bilbo and Andy Serkis was outstanding once again. The story was a good representation of the book but I also liked the added material. I will see this again very soon and look forward to adding it to our collection. I just wish we didn't have to wait so long for the second installment!

    Loved The Hobbit!

Oh, I am just so happy that there are more to come!! The movie was fantastic - saw it on the "Big D" 3D screen. The scenery and special effects are once again incredible, they defined the characters and their roles very well - I quickly began to immerse myself in their stories. By the end of the movie I was still wanting more!!

    My preccioussss!!!

Gollum is back! Go watch the movie for Gollum! Go watch it for having fun with all the dwarfs, elfs, hobbits, orcs, and goblins! Go watch it in 3D. Although something is changed this time, perhaps we have!

    Hobbit, coffee and dramamine

    by

You'll want coffee to get you through the length of this film and dramamine to get you over the motion sickness. If you are a ten year old boy, you will LOVE it and you won't need coffee or dramamine.

If you are a Tolkien purist, you might not love all of it, but you will love some of it. So go!

    SPOILER ALERT:
Some of the material that is not in the book "The Hobbit" is good, like the White Council meeting in Rivendell. Some is distracting (much of Radagast the Brown) and some is just plain wrong (the sword fight after orcs and wargs corner the dwarves in the trees).

Thirty minutes could be edited out and not missed. I'm talking about you fast bunnies and swinging swaying wooden bridges through goblin caverns.

Those problems aside, the scenes with Bilbo and Gollum are worth the price of admission.
