    Hobbit fans, a must see

    by

True, I haven't read the book for decades, but I felt the movie totally captured everything I remember about it. We saw it in 3D which just helped to pull us into Middle Earth more completely. See if it you're already a fan. You won't be disappointed.

    WTF Was That?

Man pick. To quote him, 'Well that was a bit far fetched don't you think? I mean how many times do you get rescued? It was a 3 hour walking tour of New Zealand" Might I add..he's a fan of Tolkien, I'm not, I pretended I was gaming since we saw it in 3d, so I could get through it. At one point..I dozed off. We will pass on the next two. Not worth losing another 6 hours of our lives.

The Hobbit. 320 pages. Split into 3 movies, 3 years, first one 2 hrs 49 min.

Les Miserables 1232 pgs Eng, (1400pgs French) 1 Movie 2.5 hours.

Take note Hollywood, You don't have to film every...stinking...page.

    Better than expected

Loved the Lord of the Rings books and movies. Was afraid that this lighter book wouldn't translate well to the big screen, but it worked well. I like the additions, such as things that prepared for the Lord of the Rings, which I think is in keeping with Tolkien. if you like the Lord of the Rings, you will enjoy this movie as well.

    Good for the whole family

Even our son that didn't want to see the movie enjoyed it. Pretty good considering he won't read any of the books or watch any of the LOTR movies.

    Hurry up 2013!!!!!

    by

I was a little worried about this movie. Taking in the fact that PJ was taking one book, plus Quest for Erebor story, and giving Radagast an real part in the story. I have to say he has done wonderful so far. I was amazed. My wife and I could not pick our jaws up when we saw Erebor. PJ's vision of it was stunning. Some people have been complaining about how slow the move was in a few places. Sometimes life is just that way, and their is more that come from some of those points later on in the story.

If you haven't seen it yet, let me encourage you to. If you are able either read or listen to the Hobbit book and the Quest for Erebor. Erebor can be found in Unfinished Tales and some of the Lord of The Rings books as appendix A I believe it was called.

Praying for December of 2013 to hurry up.

    What was it?

First 20 minutes was so boating that I fell asleep. I was quickly waken and watched the remainder of the show, even as other people left. I wish they had let me sleep. Boring and cartoonish with characters, action, plot that was just not believable. I don't know who this movie would appeal to but certainly not me.

    by clayguy

I just was taken in, by the amazing characters that I had only read about before.. It was amazing to see them fleshed in.. I saw the 3D version and it was simply the best ever.

    Fun, but long

Epic. Lots of story, you definitely get your money's worth. Doesn't entirely agree with the book, but who cares? it's a movie, and the images, scenery and action are great. Wife was worried about the violent scenes, but my 5yr old daughter was fine with it. It was at times funny, intense, scary and thrilling.

It is loonnnng. So don't get a big drink!! A 5 min intermission wouldn't hurt really.

The Hobbit: An Unexpectedly Long Journey

Overall this movie was a good experience, but it was no Lord of the Rings, regardless of how hard Peter Jackson tried to make it to be. The addition of items from the appendices is clear and unnecessary. There was no need to force this to be 3 movies. All that being said, overall the movie was enjoyable. It started off very slowly, but after the 1st 45 - 60 minutes, things picked up. I certainly recommend seeing it, but I would not put it in the same caliber of any of the previous Lord of the Rings films made by Mr. Jackson.

    Great Movie

    by

This next adventure in the shadow of the well known Lord of The Rings. Was an amazing well thought out movie that captured the imagination all over again. And they even found time to put some new comedy in to the mix that rivals Gimli in the LOTR trillogy. The only thing that I can say that I did not like was the new graphics and computer generation for the Orcs and the trolls that are in this new movie, for they pale in comparrison to the origional in the LOTR trillogy. I do not think that this is something to be said but this is not a film for children again like the fellowship of the rings I believe this is a film for those of 13 and over, and with the violence it problibly should be R. For an overall rating this is a must see

    Good, not great

It looked like an LOTR movie -- great effects, great music, etc. But it had a rote, by-the-numbers feel to it -- for me, it was missing the labor-of-love atmosphere that the LOTR movies had.

And my son hated the "to be continued" ending. Welcome to the way I felt at the end of The Empire Strikes Back, kid. At least you don't have to wait three years.
