Good story line and plenty of action!

Jason Statham never disappoints and he's easy on the eyes to boot! Jennifer Lopez did well and even though she was the leading lady it wasn't an action film with a love connection which is great considering the norm of guy saves girl action movies out here.

ACTION-PACKED, GORY TALE OF REVENGE. NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED.

Never having read the Richard Stark novels (pseudonym of Donald E. Westlake); a neophyte, totally ignorant of the protagonist and his exploits, it was stunningly shocking that ?Parker? (stoically handsome Jason Statham) was an untoward character, a criminal with ethics, a pugnacious, tenacious, terrifying personage when doubled-crossed; hence, the fast-paced, pungently gory scenario, revolving around Parker?s revenge and his unique code of morality...
Sprinkled with a dragnet of smarmy villains, primarily mendacious ?Melander? (Michael Chiklis, ?Vegas? is riveting, mesmerizing in the role); and innocent, but sagacious ?Leslie? (a surprisingly genuine portrayal by Jennifer Lopez) who is the foil; woeful, struggling Palm Beach real estate agent, implementing Parker?s chimerical plan...
    THREE STARS!!!

    Parker

I've read all the Parker novels by Richard Stark aka Donald Westlake.
Lee Marvin played him in Point Blank (1967), Mel Gibson in Payback (1999),
and now Statham in 2013. All 3 are good screen versions of the books.
Thumbs way up from The Film Buff!

    Excellent Action Movie

January-February 2013 shows promise of being Nirvana for fans of action movies. We have new movies by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Mark Wahlberg and a new "Die Hard" picture to look forward to. "Parker" sets the bar pretty high in terms of plot, dialogue and casting. I love a good revenge movie and this movie evokes memories of Lee Marvin's "Point Blank" and Mel Gibson's "Payback". Jason Statham plays it straight and brutal as the "good" criminal (he only steals from those who can afford it and doesn't hurt anyone who doesn't try to hurt him) who seeks to avenge himself against his former partners who double crossed him. Mr. Statham has become a reliable action star who consistently satisfies his audience. And like Bruce Willis, his characters get tired, hurt and bloody when shot, stabbed or otherwise attacked by his opponents. Jennifer Lopez does a good job in a supporting role that complements Statham's character. Her scenes with her mother are priceless.

    Save the planet

    by

Actually save your money.....it's okay but I can't watch Jennifer Lopez as an actress or singer or anything but overrated. Seen better acting from those rice crispies three. That IS the worst Jason Statham movies I have ever seen and I love me some Jason. Don't waste your time. Wait unil one of your friends to netfix it so you can say you didn't spend a dime on it.

    Great movie

    by

I loved the movie Parker. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The characters were very interesting to watch. Jason was, as usual, very good. The action scenes were incredible to watch. He gets the tar knocked out of him. I will buy this when it comes out on CD. I have all of his movies, although I haven't as yet seen them all. He keeps on getting better & better and I hope one day he gets the credit he deserves. JLo is also excellent in the film, as is the rest of the cast. I also liked Patti Lupone as JLo's mother. One of the reviews said she was too over the top. I think Ms. Lupone played it perfectly. This is a must see movie for Jason & Jennier's fans.

Weak characters and waaaay too long.

    by

Weakest story line and characters I've ever seen in a Jason Stathan action film. The concept of a cross over between a British hunk/martial arts fighter and American trailer trash con just did not work. All the characters lack any spark and fall flat--by the end it didn't matter, to me, if they lived or died. I wasn't really sure when the movie ended but I followed the rest of the auidience leaving the auditorium. This film would truly justify "stealing" a second movie at a multiplex. I have been more invovled, excited and turned on by a electronic store ad I got in the mail than this movie. I've never seen Jenifer L so dull. I don't know if they were trying to make her look unattracive but they did a great job of it. This is one of Jason's bad movies--and I say that with great regret and disapointment. I wanted to like this movie but it was just too boring---cast of dozens shot in dowtown Bush Parie (population 526)..

    A Real Man

Taylor Hackford has succeeded in directing a movie where the lead acts on principle, undeterred by financial or sexual temptations. Parker is as tough as nails and relentless in his pursuit of justice. At one point the Patti Lupone character declares, "Now that's a real man." So true. Good performances turned in by Stratham, Lopez and Lupone. This is a movie well worth seeing.

    PARKER

I loved this movie from the get-go. Statham brings back his code of honor for criminals; much like the ones in his Transporter films. I think he is creating a nice guy crook for future endeavors. The storyline is an old one; but this is so well done you don't really care or notice. Yes it has some violent scenes and super fast nudity ones. I can see the Parker character becoming the platform for more movies, like Bruce Wills and the Die Hard series. The plot moved along great, due to the directors speed control of the story. I thought it flowed very well and never was I bored or wishing it would slow or speed up. I can say go and spend a nice two hours at the movie theater with the confidence that you will enjoy this one as much as I did.

Jason is great but JLo stinks it up! Save your money!!

The movie started well and kept me intrigued with its plot and action. All was fine until BAM!! JLo comes into the picture, and you raise your hands and say WTF???? She was absolutely NOT integral to the movie. She did nothing to further the plot. She completely destroyed the movie's momentum. The worst part of the movie had to be when JLo strips down to her bra and panties. She has a fat, flabby, sagging *** that was incredibly horrible at best. The fact that they did not edit it out makes me wonder if JLo still thinks she has a hot body. Sorry lady, you are middle aged and it is apparent you don't squat. Leave the naked body shots to those who have a nice body. And please stay away from movies altogether.

Wait for it on dvd IF you must watch.

    Liked it

    by CC_CC

I especially liked the movie. It wasn't an over the top story. I think Jason belongs in things like this with a classier touch. I never saw Jennifer Lopez before. I thought she was great and her beauty is a treat on the big screen. The action is good. There is also supporting roles that are well done. Especially the actress that has the role of Jennifer's mother. It was fun and exciting.

    Parker

I thought the movie was great. A little more violence than I like, but I thought the ending was great. He had a purpose and only wanted what was his.

    Classic Statham!

I am a huge fan of Jason Statham and i couldn't wait to see this new flick called "Parker." If you are a fan of his movies, or just a fan of action period, you have to go and buy a ticket to this at your local theatre. You have a suspensful thriller on your hands, and you don't know how it is all going to turn out. Statham is stabbed in the back from his partners, and is on the hunt to track them down and get what he deserves along with some help from Jennifer Lopez. Statham is an action God and i love all of his movies! You want actions? You want romance? You want blood? This is the movie for you. It is not for kids, there is nudity and lots of blood and foul language. Keep them at home. Jason was excellent, but they could of done without Miss. Lopez. She should stick to music.
