    Thought it would be better

    by jhs39

Richard Stark's Parker novels have been adapted previously, in movies like Point Blank and the Mel Gibson remake Payback; The Split; The Outfit and the weakest of the bunch by far, Slayground starring a well-cast Peter Coyote as Parker in a very poorly made film. Jason Statham would seem to be a good fit for the part but the version of Parker on display here is easily the nicest of the bunch, much more so even than Mel Gibson in the theatrical cut of Payback (he famously re-shot a third of the movie because he didn't think his character was likable enough). This Parker is a softie who likes animals, loves his girl and is extremely loyal to his partner (who is also his girl's father). This Parker is such a nice guy he talks an armed guard down from a panic attack in the middle of a robbery. As Statham vehicles go this is above average in terms of plot but it lacks the lean no-nonsense flavor of most Richard Stark movie adaptations. It feels a little flabby and overlong.

    Revenge at its best!

Jason Statham was at his best in this movie! Lot's of action and some laughs. I rather see JLo as an actress than a singer, she was great!

The movie was not bad, but not great either.

The beginning and middle of the film were great, but the ending stunk. Statham as usual was great. His fighting skills are amazing. J-Lo was annoying. I could not stand her character. I would say wait for cable. Not worth the price of admission.

It's Jason, how could you go wrong

It's Jason that will bring us back everytime, he doesn't disappoint. Yes, there might be a few things that happen that are a little far fetched but overall it is entertaining. Jennifer did a good job!

    Classic Statham!

I am a huge fan of Jason Statham and i couldn't wait to see this new flick called "Parker." If you are a fan of his movies, or just a fan of action period, you have to go and buy a ticket to this at your local theatre. You have a suspensful thriller on your hands, and you don't know how it is all going to turn out. Statham is stabbed in the back from his partners, and is on the hunt to track them down and get what he deserves along with some help from Jennifer Lopez. Statham is an action God and i love all of his movies! You want actions? You want romance? You want blood? This is the movie for you. It is not for kids, there is nudity and lots of blood and foul language. Keep them at home. Jason was excellent, but they could of done without Miss. Lopez. She should stick to music.

    PARKER

Action packed from beginning to end and even though I expected the action, I still jumped and gasped when some of the attacks happened.

Loved the little bit of humor injected into it that ot some chuckles. I would see this again and probably will when it comes home on Pay Per View.

It was good to see him play a faithful man to Claire too.

    PARKER

This was a great movie. My husband went with me to see it and we both enjoyed it alot. My son will want to go and I will probably go with him also. Statham is great and gorgeous at the same time. Even though Lopez has a small part she does a good job. Nick Nolte looks weird but does a decent job with the small part he plays. Only downside about the movie...NO more cowboy hats for Statham. He is not a cowboy so dont try to portray his character that way. Otherwise I highly recommend the movie.

    Parker

I've always likedJason Stratham, and this movie was pitch perfect for him. JLo? Totally wasted and I've always liked her, but honey go back to Selena or Monster in Law, little more her style. Though she looked cute, but who in heck picked her wardrobe!

    PARKER

Liked it. However, my favorite "Parker" of the year is Richard Parker from Life of Pi.

    Parker

This is a crime drama/action movie that is based on a series of books about a character named Parker [they are written by Richard Stark and I think he did about 20] . There have been two other movies based on his books [Lee Marvin in 'Point Blank' & Mel Gibson in 'Payback'] . Jason plays Parker , a thief with his own code of ethics [he only steals from people that can afford it , he never kills anyone unless they deserve it , he always does what he says he is going to do and he expects other people to treat him the same way] . Nick plays the man that connects Jason to his job prospects and his latest is a state fair heist with Michael and his gang , along for help . Michael double-crosses Jason and leaves him for dead [he should have made sure he was dead] and Jason just wants to set things right . Jennifer plays a real estate agent that helps Jason in his plans . It has the usual good fight scenes that you can expect in a Jason Statham movie .

    Better than expected

I rate this an A-. Typical Jason S. movie but i like him. He even seems a little more vunerable in this than in the past. J LO suprises with a decent performance and she looks great. Together they work. So if you want some good action and a little eye candy ....Go.
