Choose a Plot

There were too many conflicts the writers were trying to resolve in an hour and a half. None of the characters were well developed, so I didn't care about any of them. Billy Crystal and Bette Midler had their funny moments, but those moments were few and far between. The funniest part of the movie is the end, where Billy Crystal is calling the play by play for a t-ball game.

Not Quite a Go, but Enjoyable

I really had no desire to go see it, but I was dragged into it by my father and his friend since they didn't know what else to go see. I actually did enjoy myself, laughed a couple of times throughout, but it's the type of family movie you've seen before. It's nothing new and it doesn't offer anything to the entertainment business in anything fresh. If there's anything this generation needs, it's fresh ideas. Overall, an "Only going to see it one" movie but good while it lasts. Just don't go into the theater expecting "The Fockers" or "Cheaper by the Dozen".

Great Movie

Don't know why critics panned this movie. I think they forget, people go to the theater to get entertained. If I wanted to learn something, I would go to the museum or or read the Encyclopedia.

I saw this movie because the previews were funny and I wanted to laugh.

So what is not too like?

*The chemistry between Billy Crystal and Bette Midler is undeniable. I wish they would make more movies together.

*Yes it is full of the familiar cliches: busy parents with little time for their kids, setting high expectations and organizing every aspect of their children's lives -- BUT -- it is entertaining!

*You will laugh.

*And when it comes out on DVD, you will see it again.

Movies are supposed to be fun! This one certainly is so go take the family!

Best Comedy of the Year

Very funny look at two generations and how to parent.
Great acting moments by Bett and Billy.
I thought it portrayed real life situations.
Good message.

All young couples should see this movie!!!

Grandparents will be uplifted and will have stronger resolve to help
parenting of grandchildren.

Fun Family Movie

I attended this movie with my daughter and granddaughter. We all enjoyed it! The beginning was a bit slow but after that it was light, well acted and current. My daughter felt that it had some of the ingredients that our family has. I would suggest this as a great movie to experience with your extended family that leaves you feeling happy and a bit more connected!

Better than anticipated!

A light-hearted family movie with laughter and tears. Loved Bette Midler and Billy Crystal together. Kudos to the casting director for the entire cast. Must see!

Great movie!!

OK, I'm a "Mimi" and I have grand children ;-) so of course i "liked" this movie BUT the big reason also is that IT HAD A STORY LINE AND CHARACTERS AND HAD HEART!! I laughed, I cried!!! A+ movie for moi!

A Must-See movie.
Billy Crystal, Bette Middler and Marisa Tomeii are all excellent in their roles. I laughed, I cried, just a great movie. I can't wait to see it again!

Quite possibly the worst movie I've ever seen.

This movie is predictable, badly acted, and has characters that you struggle to like. The little boy is a huge brat that you wish would just go away. I saw some people leave the theatre in the middle of this movie. I wanted to join them, but the family was there with me. I stuck it out to the end. Ugh.

The idea was great and there were a couple of great actors but for the rest it was a big disappointment. The writers just tired way too hard and the movie failed terribly.

A comedy for kids and adults.

I walked into this movie with the lowest exceptations I could ever have. Billy Crystal, Bete midler in a family comedy ok. First off the movie is rushed from beginning to end from it's jokes to it's plot lines. Second, Billy and Bette make zero sense as a couple, they may work as a team, but nothing more. Maybe it also didn't help if I was stuck in a small theatre with about 75 screaming kids. Bottom line: If your kids ask you to see this movie, go ahead, it's kinda cute anyways, other wise rent Cheaper by the dozen 1 and 2. The one actually clever thing about this movie is that it has good credits, showing all the actors/actresses families.

EXCELLENT!

I haven't laughed so hard in my entire life! Took my 12 year old niece with me and she thought it was hilarious, too! There couldn't be a better tearm than the likes of Bette Midler and Billy Crystal!!!!!

Decent family movie but quite predictable

Like: Family fare, no language/sex/violence, some funny spots, heartwarming, good stab at over-achieving families with psycho-babble child rearing practices! Nice message about marriage more important than kids. Good acting in general.

Dislike: Somewhat predictable story and ending. Unrealistic (just a movie, I know) to show grandparents can fix a host of their grandchildren's life problems in just about 3 days-feel good but not likely in real life.

This movie definitely fulfills its genre expectation, so if this is the type of move you enjoy, you'll likely love it...it's well done.

Excellent family movie!

How can you go wrong with exceptional actors like Billy Crystal and Bette Midler? This was a terrific movie with good values and funny lines. We went with three generations and everyone enjoyed it...the youngest being 8. It even made my teenager laugh and that's virtually impossible when he's "forced" to do "lame" family activities. LOL. A GREAT movie! I would see it again.

Fun Family Flick

This is a fun little movie that the whole family can enjoy. Billy Crystal won't be winning any Academy Awards for his emotional performances, which were somewhat lackluster. But overall, the storyline makes for a feel-good movie for the family.
