the truth is funny

My kids 10 & 6 thought the movie was funny and I thought it was hilarious. Almost, any parenting situation is included.

Parental Guidance

Loved it.. As grandparents we definitely related to it. Billy Crystal and Bette Midler were great together. The 3 children were wonderful. Thought it was going to be a silly movie but it turned out to be vey heartwarming. We realy enjoyed it.

My husband and I went to see this film, we thought it would give us some laughs. It did that and more. We thought it was a good family film. Good acting. We thought the film was done very tastefully. We laughed and cried!

great family movie

It was a refreshing experience to sit in a theatre without hearing curse words or seeing racy scenes in what was called a family movie. This trully is a family movie. It is funny, entertaining, enjoyable movie. We sooo enjoyed it!

My wife and I saw this movie on Christmas day. We like both Billy Crystal and Bette Midler, and expected it to be funny and take a lighthearted look at parenting and generational child rearing attitudes.

Wow! It was indeed hilarious, as we and the rest of the audience laughed throughout the movie. But......parts of it were very, very touching and relevent to the issues Grandparents face with their kids and Grandkids. The scenes that brought tears are what made the movie a "gotta see" for any one with kids or Grandkids.

Very well written, just the right mix of humor and seriousness. This is a movie I will buy, and I'm not a real big movie buyer.

laugh & cry with your family!

went to see this movie last night with my 6, 10 & 12 year old boys...we LOVED it! kids laughed and laughed...and my husband and I did lots of head nodding and laughing as we related to so many of the "new parenting" ways that frustrate us as well! a very "true to life" movie with a great script...parts played SO well by all. and i have to admit, i totally teared up at the end...it's got some really sweet and heart-wrenching moments as well. completely family-friendly...there was nothing inappropriate for my 6-year old...although he is a 3rd kid, so we are probably a little relaxed about some language. :/ a must-see for families...the wonderful "cross-generational" message that other reviewers mentioned is right!!!

Good movie for entertainment

Just needed a movie to watch for entertainment purposes and laughter. I got both of these in this movie. Some very funny parts and some very touching parts Critics say don't go ... but if I lived my movie watching paying attention to the critics I would have missed A LOT of really good movies.

Thought it was meh, but my kids liked it

After promising to take my kids (8 and 5) to a movie, we settled on the only one showing currently, Parental Guidance. I didn't know anything about it so my husband and I watched the trailer. Turns out the trailer shows every single funny bit, so for us, we were pretty bored as the movie limped along in between funny bits. The kids thought it was funny, though, and I have to admit that the ending redeemed itself and I even got a little teary. So all-in-all, not bad, but not the best "family" film I've seen this year.

corny feel good movie

If the Mrs wants to see this it won't be the most painful experience. Actually our 13 year old and I did enjoy it , my wife really enjoyed it. This could certainly be a wait and watch at home. Not much missed by waiting for this one.

Great Movie

Don't know why critics panned this movie. I think they forget, people go to the theater to get entertained. If I wanted to learn something, I would go to the museum or or read the Encyclopedia.

I saw this movie because the previews were funny and I wanted to laugh.

So what is not too like?

*The chemistry between Billy Crystal and Bette Midler is undeniable. I wish they would make more movies together.

*Yes it is full of the familiar cliches: busy parents with little time for their kids, setting high expectations and organizing every aspect of their children's lives -- BUT -- it is entertaining!

*You will laugh.

*And when it comes out on DVD, you will see it again.

Movies are supposed to be fun! This one certainly is so go take the family!

Non stop laughs!

From start to finish this movie will have you laughing at 90 miles an hour, while slowing down just enough to add an emotional, touching element throughout. The cast is perfect, go see it you deserve it!

A Dysfunctional Family

a nice fun movie about a dysfunctional family from the grandparents thru the grandkids.
just so so acting with a couple of stars in it, all ages can find an event in the movie to laugh about.

Very Funny

I went to see this movie with a friend and we enjoyed it immensely. t is about relationships between the generations. It has a great cast including Bette Middler and Billy Crystal as the grandparents. Great for all audiences. Take your kids.

It was hilarious. Some of the stunts were pretty outrageous but it made you laugh and some of the content was soul searching and make you laugh! Glad we went to see it.
