So often it's difficult to find a Comedy/Family movie! THIS was a GREAT movie, we took our 16 & 12 yr. old kids with us and they loved it too. Bette Midler & Billy Crystal were hilarious!!

The movie as better than the reviews

The movie had a good story line. It was good for all ages. My daughter thought the movie was funny. My son, said, "not too funny", both did laugh at some parts. The actors were good and it was better than the reviews.

Good Show

As a grandparent I really liked this show. It is a lot like my life. My chance to instill my lifelong beliefs into my GK's, which I think are important. Got to get those little slackers going!

laugh & cry with your family!

went to see this movie last night with my 6, 10 & 12 year old boys...we LOVED it! kids laughed and laughed...and my husband and I did lots of head nodding and laughing as we related to so many of the "new parenting" ways that frustrate us as well! a very "true to life" movie with a great script...parts played SO well by all. and i have to admit, i totally teared up at the end...it's got some really sweet and heart-wrenching moments as well. completely family-friendly...there was nothing inappropriate for my 6-year old...although he is a 3rd kid, so we are probably a little relaxed about some language. :/ a must-see for families...the wonderful "cross-generational" message that other reviewers mentioned is right!!!

It took a while to understand the personalities of the characters. The last 30 minutes were the most developed and moving, especially for grandparents who've experienced the parenting styles of their children.

Critics Need to Lighten Up!!

This movie was a wonderful distraction from the real world. It was light hearted, funny and entertaining. I laughed and cried. My children also truly enjoyed this movie. It was a nice break from the overrated, 2 plus hour long and exhausting films that critics give such high acclaim too. Take your family and enjoy!

FINALLY!!!!!! A great clean family movie! It's been a long time coming Hollywood!

My entire family (ages 10-46) loved this movie. I loved the fact that it was a funny movie the whole family could enjoy and I didn't have to worry about the kids being exposed to sex, violence, language, etc. Billy Crystal, Bette Midler and the supporting cast were outstanding!!! The box office would definitely get more of my money if they would continue making great family movies like this one.

In this case PG means, Pretty Good, but not Great.

Parental Guidance gets off to a slow start, but picks up throughout the movie... a little. Major overacting from Crystal, Midler and Tomei subsides somewhat. But story's decent if a bit expected. Empty-nesters will identify and likely be moved by reality of separation, loss of connection as children become adults. See the matinee... then go to nice 5 pm dinner!

This is a great movie. A must see for the family, they just dont make movies like this much any more and Hats off to Billy Crystal and Bette Midler for such a great movie. It would pay some of the other writers to be more like this. Its shows you can have a great time a make a wonderful movie with out the potty mouth that nearly all movies have now a days. Thank You Billy Crystal for doing such a funny movie that the whole family can enjoy together. My husband and I laughed the whole time and so did everyone in the
theater. I love the Japanese chef, I have not seen him since he played Long Duck Dong in 16 candles. He was funny then and funny now. Great Movie!!!

Good movie for entertainment

Just needed a movie to watch for entertainment purposes and laughter. I got both of these in this movie. Some very funny parts and some very touching parts Critics say don't go ... but if I lived my movie watching paying attention to the critics I would have missed A LOT of really good movies.

This was a great family movie with strong family values throughout the dialog that was inspiring and really a good thing for children. Our entire family went and enjoyed it immensely. We all commented that there should always be these type of movies as an option for parents. Better than cartoons or animated shows that sometimes bore the parents to death. These are real people with real life stories. No violence. All around Great.

My wife and I saw this movie on Christmas day. We like both Billy Crystal and Bette Midler, and expected it to be funny and take a lighthearted look at parenting and generational child rearing attitudes.

Wow! It was indeed hilarious, as we and the rest of the audience laughed throughout the movie. But......parts of it were very, very touching and relevent to the issues Grandparents face with their kids and Grandkids. The scenes that brought tears are what made the movie a "gotta see" for any one with kids or Grandkids.

Very well written, just the right mix of humor and seriousness. This is a movie I will buy, and I'm not a real big movie buyer.

Not a great movie, but a sweet and solid one. Nice to see Billy Crystal and Bette Midler again--both were charming in the movie. Went with our whole family and everyone enjoyed it.

Great Family Film

Went with my wife, 12 year old daughter and Grandma. We all loved it. We laughed and some of us (sentimental old dad) cried. A very good reminder that sometimes kids just need to be kids, have fun, play outside, get dirty, mess up. We as parents (and grandparents) need to love them unconditionally, despite our own shortcomings.
