    Solid Horror Movie

    by Beckz

This movie definitely made me jump more than a few times. Although I liked the plot I didn't love it, the movie was too transparent at times. All in all its worth watching going to the theaters to watch it and I would recommend it to any horror movies fan.

    Good Suspense

It's a graphic story line without terrible gore. My wife is the real horror fan, and she loved this movie. I liked the suspense, and thought it was well played. Ethan Hawke was very believable and for the first time in his career not a condescending *****. The rest of the cast is good too, and this movie lacked in building their characters up. It held on to obvious truths way too long and was easily predictable. Still one of the better scary movies I've seen in a long time. One last prediction... the sequel will be lame as a college professor dives into the hidden truth behind the scary figure.

    Sinister could have been better...

    by

It wasn't nearly as scary as I hoped it would be from the trailers. They relied on a few standard shock moments to scare you, but nothing really unique and new. It was slightly better than Paranormal 4, but just barely.

    Go see it!

Even the jaded horror movie fans such as myself should at least give it a try. Was in the best? No...but they did a really great job. This coming from someone who thinks they have every horror movie figured out. This even managed to surprise me a bit.

    eery little flick

This movie has gotten a lot of so-so ratings from viewers. I can't understand why. I'm a horror movie buff, and this little flick was quite enjoyable. However, I don't watch horror movies in an attempt to find the oscar nods it may contain. If you do, you can pick this movie apart, and you should be a fan of another genre anyway.

This gem was more eery than scary to me, but it was still one of the better horror flicks I've seen in quite some time. I think it's worth the time if you watch it as a fan, not a wanna-be critic.

    DISTURBING

    by

This movie IS NOT a must see. I had high hopes because the previews looked scary, but I was wrong. There were some parts that made you jump, but it was just a horribly bloody mess that will leave you disturbed. This movie made me want to quit watching horror movies forever, it disturbed me so badly. DO NOT GO SEE. You have been warned.

    Siniser

    by

This movie started out really good, but when you the make up on some of the characters it went down hill from there. I did not know it was rate R till my husband told me it should of been rated PG-13. Had jumpy moments strong story line just fell hard towards the end

    Showing All the Cards

This film barely gets a "go" rating, but many may enjoy the couple of well-crafted jump moments that arise towards the middle and end of the film. The musical score for the film does a great job of keeping the viewer's mind off balance and produces droning incoherent elements that enhance the atmosphere and underscores the evil at its work. Although slow in finding its pace, the film does produce some truly disturbed imagery and will force some audience members farther down in their seats. The film fails in its buildup, as many of the key scenes were pulled for the trailer. One is left with some confusion during the first couple of acts and the polarizing quality of the trailers leaves a sharp drop off that the audience must experience in order to fully invest. The elements that make up the plot are not new, nor are they particularly interesting, and there is a sort of two-dimensional texture to the characters. The final product will be guessed by most audiences well in advance.

    Very slow in parts

    by ocnikki

This movie was very predictable and formulaic. The slow parts before the scares were VERY slow. There were good scares though. Ethan Hawke was very good. My vote? Wait to rent it.

    Finally a good scary movie

I really enjoyed Sinister. I didn't expect as much as the movie delivered. It was a true throw back to the scary suspenseful movie genre. Without using lots of blood & guts, no slasher type stuff, just good suspense and surprises. The storyline was very different from what I thought. Lots of dark and gray colors in the scenes. Didn't notice the face in the movie poster, but now I do. LOL.

For those of you who remember the Candy Man movies...this is like that, IMO. AAAHHHH.

Ethan Hawk was good in this part and believable. The kids, too. Nothing I didn't like about this movie because the writing was clever and kept my attention thoroughout. I think this was a worthwhile big screen flick.

If you are imaginative this will scare the heck out of you!

I thought it was one of the scariest films I've ever seen but I like movies that are less gory and more psychologically frightening. I loved Insidious, The Ring, and Blair Witch gave me nightmares. Maybe it is because I have 3 kids...I don't know, but I was way freaked out by this one. I have not stopped thinking about it since seeing it yesterday, most movies are over when they're over but this one has still got me on edge!. BIG time scares for me. :) The perfect Halloween movie for horror movie fans.

A Horror Film with a KICK!

    by

Scary movies are generally predictable and most certainly not scary. This one is the first one (in a long time) that had me jumping all over the place. The content is quite twisted and the thrilling/jumping/scary parts are legit. I did not care for the ending, but it was not enough to take away from my overall enjoyment of the film. Its a must see for anyone who likes horror films, and definitely see it in the theater to get all of the effects!

    So so so scary!

    by

This was truly one of the best horror movies I have seen in a long time. It was relatively long for a horror too, almost 2 hours! The first half hour or so was a liiiiiiittle bit slow, but I'm not exaggerating when I say the remainder of the movie had me watching through my fingers and being completely scared.

    Creepy and Dsiturbing

    by

Sinister is a really interesting film, I wouldn't say its overtly scary but it really keeps you on edge to see how the story will resolve. It was very suspenseful and very well written. I really enjoyed the sound design which help the audience feel the confusion and disorientation of the lead character. The supporting cast was very good and I enjoyed the fact that there were only a couple of well know actors. Thoroughly enjoyed the creep and disturbing vibe of this film. My only complaint is that they decided to use the "loud noise" scare which in my opinion does not make a horror film scary, it just makes you jump from being startled by the noise. I feel that it an obvious gimmick and would have done better if this was not included in this film.
