    Sinister

It started off to be one of the scariest movies I've ever seen, but it quickly died down. It had it's potential to be great. Not enough scary parts and the ending was horrible. I definitely could have waited to see this on Netflix. It's not even worth buying on DVD.

Thank goodness scary movies are back!

Okay this was scary and it was good scary. Nothing was really predictable. When you expected something to happen it didn't. And when you least expected it to IT DID! I heard men shrieking like little girls just like they did with Insidious. Another good one! You were tense throughout the entire film. There's a little twist near the end that some viewers may have seen coming. The script was very well written, the actors performed very well. The lighting was excellent and the music was perfect.

Great film! See this one and enjoy a scare that you've missed all October!

    Scary, unpredictable, different

This is a good movie if you like scary thrillers. Fortunately, the director tastefully kept the gore to a minimum, which enhanced the movie. Good performances all around.

Scariest movie I have seen in a long time if not ever.

I love horror movies and see them all the time and Sinister is AMAZING as far as horror films go. It made me jump so many times and it never got stupid like so many other scary movies do. Even the ending was great. If you love scary movies like me, I highly suggest going to see this one.

    A good, creepy, horror film.

This movie impressed me. A great plot, good dialogue, and Ethan Hawke definitely delivers. The scares came out of nowhere as well, which is always a must in Horror films.

It was a good, genuine, horror movie that I recommend.

An actually scary horror movie .... for once

Ok, it was super predictable at the end, but overall, it is a really scary movie. I LOVE horror movies but they are usually a waste of money to see in the theater, but this one is good. I actually screamed. LOL. Loudly. Only once, but it was worth the 12 bucks. I am not into slasher flicks and lean more toward the supernatural original Exorcist films all all things scary-kid. If that's what you're into also ... go see this one. It is a little bloody in parts, but does a good job of leaving some things up to your imagination and allows for suspense. Good job, Ethan. I told my ten year old he was not allowed to watch this movie, even when he is 100.

    Suspenseful and Creepy

This is a great horror movie that really builds up the suspense and gives you those jump-out-of-your-seat moments. Very creepy and jarring ending. We thoroughly enjoyed it. 'Old School' suspenseful horror at its best.

Literally Jumped Out of My Seat

    by

While it's not the best horror film in recent history, nor will it be long remembered, it gets the job done if you're goal is to be scared for the duration of the film. The evil spirit is super creepy and makes you want to turn away every time it shows him because you aren't sure what it's going to do. It's not too gory so it doesn't lose you there, either. Where it lost me, and where most horror films lose me despite being my favorite genre, is in the plausibility. Not whether the story could happen, but whether the people in the story would actually do what they're doing in the film and, unfortunately, I don't think Sinister has much plausibility in this regard. However, I was pretty scared throughout the whole film and jumped out of my seat twice. The acting was decent but the story, music and camera work were exceptional in providing the scares. Go and see it if you're a scary movie fan.

    CREEPY!

    by

I thought the movie was great. A lot of the major jump moments were given away in the previews which sucked but its what got us to want to see it in the first place. The whole movie had an eerie feeling & the whole audience jumped at least 5 times. I loved it. I dont scare easily and I was thoroughly creeped out! It had a lot of times where the person in the movie does exactly what they arent supposed to like checking out a scary noise or something & the main character never turns on the damn light when checking things out but that adds to the scare. Go see it, but not alone!

    Don't waste your time

I was very dissapointed with this film and so were the other three people watching. We had to watch the movie in the dark just to see what was going on in the film. The whole movie is very dark. This film was way too predictable as to what was happening.Nobody in the movie can seem to turn on any lights even when they hear noises or walk through the house to check what is going on.Ethan falls through the attic and his wife doesn't wake up.Too many arguements between his wife and Ethan. What's going on with his son plays no part in what is happening.
Any normal person upon finding a movie projector turning off and on by itself after locking up the contents and the room door would flip out and move out immediately but Ethan seems to be in total denial anything odd is happening around him. This movie was a total wasts of renting and time to watch. All four of us thought it was just nerve racking scenes jumping around attempting to peice together four murders. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!!

I fell asleep for a second their

    by

It was a very slow build up. Ethan played an ok drunk dad. Here's what I thought was scary: the thunder storm at the movies, the stalker white van parked next to me, the lightening outside & the car driving on the wrong side of the road.

    Perfect Halloween movie

Unlike many of the "found footage" horror movies that have made the rounds over the years, this one is on to something. By combining the home videos found in an attic with the supernatural, the fear factor is doubled in that you don't really know if it's a serial killer or something else. Ethan Hawke does a great job playing a dude that ends up going a little crazy after looking into these cold cases after moving into one of the victim's homes. His cop buddy provides some much needed humor to a story that is beyond dark. Each of the home movies found seem to one up the previous one on the sick & twisted meter. Without giving anything away, you see how one guy's chance to write a story turns into something pretty bad. And why does everything bad happen in Connecticut? I read some people had it figured out early on but I was kept guessing until the last few minutes of the movie. Worth the trip to a late showing if your looking for a good scare at the movies.

    Sinister

A must see for fans who like to jump out of their seats. From the git go you are anticipating and then wanting more. Sat in my seat holding on for dear life because i kept jumping out of it. The end is a little predictable but over all a very good scary movie. Please do not take your little kids to this. I took my 16 year old and she slept with the light on.....
