Warm Bodies... is a Cool Movie

    by csamson

Like the Romeo and Juliet referrence of the story... 2 from opposite sides of town fall in love. The story is an original and is funny and cute though with suspenseful parts too. Enjoyed this movie!

Different take on the zombie culture

I enjoyed this movie because it was a different view of the zombie culture. I hate everything zombie because it disinterests me, but this movie was great because it wasn't typical. It was funny, heart felt, and even suspenseful at moments. It's a good adult movie.

    Wow! Very Good!

The movie is very good! I loved it! It was really good acted and the actors were really good in playing their characters! If you havn't seen it, go watch it! I would always go see it again, just a wonderful movie, mix of action, romance and zombies, for every age I think! But the PG-13 is rated right! For teenager above 13 until 60 it´s a great movie!

    Love it!

    by

I was drawn to this as a lover of the zombie genre, and was very pleasantly surprised with something fresh and new. It's not just about blood and guts and shooting dead people in the head with a twelve gauge - though there's an ample amount of all three.

Nick Hoult rocks his role as a zombie like a second skin. R cracks me up, he's a zombie with a soul, and is terribly conflicted because of it. But don't get it wrong, he'll still kill you and eat you, if only just to feel more alive - until Julie comes along.

Julie is a breath of life in his grayscape. She's a ray of sunshine, but not irritably so, and her acting is also very believable. She's the first female protagonist I've cared about in a long time. She brings out R's human side, but not too quickly, and in a way that still treads carefully around and pays respect to his zombie nature.

See it, and definitely read the book. If you're a supernatural horror lover with an open mind, you won't be disappointed.

    Good Movie - Lacks Excitement

A heart warming journey from a land of zombies and hit men. Beginning was endearing, middle almost put me to sleep until it picked up about 3/4 of the way through the movie.

Warm Bodies worth the price of admission

I'm not usually a zombie girl, but the commercials made it look funny. It was. And not too gorey. Teresa Palmer looks like a blonde Kristen Stewart but can actually act, thank God. Nicholas Hoult is absolutely adorable in his role as the ever-changing flesh eater. His facial expressions kept me laughing continuously. I think he's going to be a huge star. I always wonder how they make those apocalyptic, abandoned world sets so believable: city and suburban streets, decrepit baseball stadiums, empty airports. I'm a huge John Malkovich fan, but both he and Dave Franco were kind of bland. Rob Cordry and Analeigh Tipton were both good.

Short story = incredible. Movie version = awesome

This movie is based on a short story called "I Am a Zombie Filled With Love," which is one of my favorites. The story has a humor and tenderness that the movie stays true to. It's a funny movie. It's romantic. It's sweet. And it's gross. It's the zombie movie I've seen in a long time.

    Zombies Doing Shakespeare

From reading the other reviews of this movie, what I thought was an incredibly obvious homage to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet (down to the balcony scene!) apparently wasn't that obvious to the rest of the audience! I really enjoyed the newest take on the Zombie genre and this movie was a great balance between the gore we've come to expect and love in Zombie movies but with en equal dose of humanity, comedy, and creepiness. Rob Corddry ads humor as R's best friend (think Zombie Mercutio) and Nicholas Hoult has just the right amount of melancholy about being a Zombie; not too or this "emo kid-zombie" would get annoying. Teresa Palmer does a nice job as Julie (Juliet) and who can say no to John Malkovich as the heart-broken, zombie hating father/general?
All in all this movie was a great date-night movie! It had just enough action, gore, love, comedy and pop-culture to keep everyone entertained! And rounding it all out with a great soundtrack, this may be a movie I end up buying!

    Great Date Movie

    by

I watch a lot of Walking Dead, so this seemed REALLY mild in comparison. I'm a total fanatic of romantic comedies, and I found this movie to be witty and sweet, while not being overly soaked in that mushy love stuff. There was just enough dry humor to cut the chick-flick quota in half. I think this would make a GREAT date movie.

    Wow

When I bought tickets to see this movie, I thought it was a die hard comedy, but when I got there I realized it wasn't- it was better. It was a modern day (post apolcayliptic) take on the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet. It had the perfect balance of violent, comedy and romance to make it an all around amazing movie. Men with go for the zombie violence, and girls will go for the amazing love story that unfolds on the screen. It was once of the best movies I've seen to date and I am very happy with it! Go see it and I promise you won't regret it.

    A zombies point of view!

    by

The zombie culture is so misunderstood. I mean wh knows what they are thinking? huh?
This movie gives a GREAT heart felt and brain eating account of one undeads journey
toward love and the pursuit of brains! Awesome movie!

Warm Bodies = Good laugh and fun

To start as a baseline - my wife HATES zombie movies. However, since it was my birthday and I told her this was a zombie love story, she decided to go... The movie was good. She actually liked the movie and even had a hard time telling me I was right at picking this movie. There are a lot of funny parts in the movie. It kept our attention throughout. Others in the theater were actually talking about how it was better than they thought as we walked out.

    Zombies with Heart

For book purists, this cinematic version is super close. Things that either were changed/omitted won't be missed by the moviegoer, though I wonder (since I just read the book prior to seeing the movie) if some of the message in the story might be lost.

The grey scenes, with the pop of color from R's red sweatshirt, appear to be a metaphor for his reappearing humanity. There's definitely a Montague/Capulet vibe here, too.

The eating scenes are not super gory (esp compared to The Walking Dead!) but you will hear chomping noises, see smears of blood. The close ups of the Boneys (skeletal zombies) are scarier than the "plumper" zombies by far.

There's a lot of humor, a couple of bad words (though they did make the scenes funnier, if you don't mind that sort of thing), lots of shooting, chasing, biting, dying. In other words, A ZOMBIE MOVIE.

I very much enjoyed the film, as did my 13-1/2-year-old daughter & my [AGE DELETED] husband. It was a very fun re-imagining of the genre.

    Twilight done right.

This movie is the perfect balance of romance, comedy, and every once in a while horror. I really recommend this movie if you want to see a movie with your girlfriend, or just want a good laugh. The horror bits weren't that scary, but they jump at you.

    Cute

    by

It was a cute teenage romantic comedy.
Not a great story line, but the characters in the movie pulled it through without much of a mess!
