    lovely film

A lovely film ,beautifully acted by a terrific cast.Didn't know what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised.A welcome diversion from the shoot up,interplanatory, vampire and mayhem movies.A real life believable story that moves you emotionally.

    Silver Lining Playbook - EXCELSIOR

This is a great movie for Philadelphia Eagles fans; it is not about brotherly love, however. I think it would be hard for someone who did not understand the passion of Philadelphia football fans to enjoy this movie with the same intensity that those of us from Philadelphia would appreciate.

Poorly written, far-fetched, but kind of cute

Only Bradley Cooper (38) and Jennifer Lawrence (22) could somehow manage to pull this mess of a movie together. Unbelievable plot of a dude with ANGER issues, and a chick with self esteem issues who somehow manage to gel and function. Really? Robert Di Niro is an amazing actor, but he's reduced to a remote-straightening OCD suffering mess of a man. The characters are all 2 dimensional and dont grab you. I love both of the leading actors, but this movie just didn't do it for me. I have NO idea how this one managed to grab so many nominations!

    Very Nice Holiday movie

I always like Brad Cooper so I knew I would go to see this. It's one of the few films that honestly looks at mental illness in families. The story line was implausible, but no violence, no shooting and a satisfying ending. I'm OK with it!

Relatable Characters and Story about a Sensitive Subject

I disagree completely with people who say that this is a difficult movie for those who've been surrounded by or suffered from mental illness to watch. If anything, this movie finally addresses mental illness in a meaningful, humane, and sometimes humorous way. Having grown up in a loving home surrounded by persons with mental illness, it really struck a chord for me. For the first time, I wasn't ashamed to talk about my brilliant but troubled family. The screenplay is well-written and the cast is superb. This movie deserves every accolade it receives.

Interesting variation on a rom-com story line

    by ws91

Unlike several other reviewers, I was not familiar with many of the actors in the cast, I do, of course, know who Robert deNiro is! I was basically looking for a movie to fill a few empty hours on a holiday weekend. I really enjoyed the film. The screenplay is upbeat in a kooky sort of way, the acting performances are all fine, the setting of a middle class neighborhood seems "real" in contrast to too many glitzy, unbelievable sets where people who struggle economically nevertheless live in more than comfortable surroundings.

Fairly early on, in the dinner party scene, the audience begins to hope they are right about where this is going, and watching things play out along the way is a lot of fun.

    I recommend it!

    Incredible

You will laugh and cry and root them on to the end. It is a true love story and the lead actors are full of life! I want to see it again!

    Silver Linings Playbook

Honestly I hoped it would turn out much better then that. It really only became interesting towards the end, and the beginning was like a first chapter of a book..boring, but has all the details that you'll need.

Good movie to see with your special someone

Movie had a decent plot and actors played their parts great. It definitely was good and filled with enough humor while keeping viewer in suspense as to what would happen at the end. I liked it and my girlfriend did too so I recommend to see it (the movie theater was packed when we went to see it on 12/15/2012 so that must say something in itself)

    Well done.

This movie has a little of everything you need for a good movie. The gal is interesting to look at. Comedy, drama, a little skin.

    Riveting

Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert DeNiro play their roles so authentically and with great grit. This characterization of emotionally challenged souls could easily pander and go askew, but none of these actors ever lose touch with the humanity of their character. I remained riveted through the movie; never distracted, never lost. What a masterful performance, by these three and by all.

    Brilliant!

This movie has a bit of everything...except horror. I loved this movie and it made my day. The actors are spot on brilliant and blend into their characters. It's heartfelt, funny, romantic, and no doubt...daring.

    Just not Believable

Sure everyone in Philly cusses a blue streak 24/7 but a psycho turns on a dime and lives happily ever after. The betting was ridiculous, what was he betting with on the last bet? I thought he lost everything the previous bet. Great actors all around but the story line wasn't there.

    MUST SEE!

    by

Great feel good movie with laughs, charm and plenty of emotion - let yourself dip into the lives of an American family as they struggle with some of life's challenges....acting is phenomenal-the story line is strong and the combination provides for a great movie you will love, laugh and cry with.

One third good two thirds irritating

    by Donzer

I thought the first two thirds of the movie were very irritating and incredibly hard to watch. It got somewhat interesting just in time to keep me from walking out. I did enjoy the last third, which was both funny and touching. Could have done without all the irritating screaming and grating dialog up to that point.

Definitely a "don't go" beginning and a "must go" end.
