    ENGROSSING AN ENTERTAINING: GOOD COMBO

From the minute it started, to the minute it ended, the amazing performanes of the actors--all of them, but especially the three main characgters--captivate in their creativity and delivery. The story, especially the dialog, is excellent. Go. You'll remember this film for a long, long time, with great memories.

    Silver linings for Silver Linings

I'm in love with Jennifer Lawrence - OK I said it. She had me at " I volunteer as tribute". Her performance opposite Bradley Cooper is multi-layered and unpredictable. I feel like I am watching a young Meryl Streep in Bridges of Madison County.

This movie is a must see! De Niro and Jackie Weaver are a great supporting cast. Bradley Cooper is stunning as a bi-polar patient coming to terms with his disease.

I actually thought about jogging again.

    Excelsior :-)

    Silver Linings Playbook is golden

What a screenplay; I'm a sucker for great writing. What a cool glimpse into the heart of a Philadelphia Italo-American family, and into therapy for violent bipolar disorder, and into bookmaking around sporting events. It's a very warm story, full of flinty, inconvenient honesty, and it's romantic, but it's not a chick flick. That ending is earned.

This is a movie that focuses on two individual with some challenges. It follows them for a period of time and let's us see the warts, the laughs, the tense moments. Highly entertaining.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS MOVIE. It was an insult to our intelligence by the use of the F-word and the S-word in just about every sentence, literally. Granted, we didn't have to go because we knew it was R-rated, and it's not like we've never been to an R-rated movie before, but this should have been rated F for filth. My husband and I went to the movie based on all of the good reviews by other movie reviewers and were sorely disappointed and felt cheated. To be assaulted verbally on every turn is uncalled for and we immediatey left that sorry excuse for a movie. Why do writers and actors feel they have to sink to such low levels to be popular and bring in the dollars? It's like a bad taste that will not go away! The storyline was a good one but was ruined by bad innuendoes and horrible languange. Bring back the decency...

    Great movie

Excellent performance by the entire cast. Refreshing to see some real acting instead of the action movies that we've be inundated with over the last year or two.

    Silver Linings

    by gted

Excellent acting by most characters. Interesting story line and many sudden twists and turns. There were some tears and a great deal of pitch black humor. Having dealt with Phila Eagles' fans for many years, the script and action of the game related scenes were very real and good.

This is definitely an adult film due to themes.

    This movie touches your soul

Silver Linings is absolutely amazing! Not only is it the best film of 2012, it's one of the best films I've ever seen. There are no fancy action sequences, no period wardrobes or crazy makeup, but it will grab you unexpectedly and won't let go. It's trans formative, not only for the characters, but for the viewer. You won't be the same when you come out. You'll feel like you can do anything, be anything. I saw the movie months ago and still reflect on it like it was yesterday. Every single character touches you. Bradley Cooper is phenomenal with the performance of a lifetime. The writing and dialog is awesome and the directing is nothing less than stellar. As a viewer, you're guided through subtle and major changes in such a natural way you'll feel like you went through it all yourself. It's real and gritty, heart warming and funny. It's really a terrific movie that will catch you off guard no matter how prepared you are going in. Prepare to be inspired.

Close ups, and walking... and running...

... was how the majority of the movie was filmed. VERY EARLY in the movie, we clearly understand that there are mental health issues, and that both characters have very flat affects. However, Through until the end, the camera captures the same blank stares (again, feeling the need to highlight already-flat faces), lingering long and close, and known behavior differences - differences from the rest of us that is. I felt that with all of the running and walking, this movie should have taken us somewhere (realistic).
I gave it a so-so because of Robert DiNero's performance - not sure who played his wife, but she was great, as well.

    Funny and touching

Surprising tender moments that make an argument for understanding of mental health issues and encourage all of us to embrace the joy of living and transcend the challenges of daily life., i,e, silver linings.

    Well done!!

I usually don't go to movies like this, but I went for one reason - Jennifer Lawrence; okay maybe two reasons - Bradley Cooper. I was not disappointed, I loved them both in this cleverly writen movie.
Roberto de Niro was wonderful too.

    Silver Linings

The plot is a little all over the place but somehow it works. Jennifer Lawrence is magnetic...great to see her in this kind of role reminding us that sometimes a dance is enough to get us up to living when life has got us down. Bradley Cooper has a great performance as a romantic man struggling to get his life on track amongst his mental health issues. Robert Deniro as Cooper's father is great as he struggles to compensate for a lost pension (and lost relationship with his son) through a string of bets on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles.

    Silver Linings Playbook

Outstanding heartfelt movie. The story line was consistant. The acting superb. The best movie I have seen this year. You will not regret going. My other 2nd favorite movies are: Argo, Lincoln, and Life of Pi.

    Two movies in one

Overall, I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it. But I felt that the first half of the movie, which is dark and disturbing (including the portrayal of the devastation of mental illness and a violent scene in which the son hits his mother and injures his father) doesn't mesh well with the second half of the movie, which is a light-hearted romantic comedy.
