Bradley Cooper was surprisingly good!
by
So, before this movie, I never really thought much of Bradley Cooper as an actor. Sure, he was good in The Hangover, but I didn't expect him to be so believable as a guy with bipolar disorder. He was better than believable. He was really, really good. All this in spite of a script that was mostly good, but sometimes tried too hard, had some serious holes in it, and some pretty bad moments of dialogue, especially for Jennifer Lawrence's character.
Still, Cooper's performance and the movie overall were worth seeing. I even liked Robert Deniro, who I don't usually like in most movies since he always plays the same character. But here he was likable and also believable as Cooper's dad, who has his own "issues" to deal with. I would rate the movie a solid B+, with Cooper's acting as an A.
