    GReat picture!

This is a really beautiful film. The pace keeps you right there, from the very start, with very little action. The film is able to capture the truth of mentally unstable people without making them silly charactertures of themselves. So truthful, one questions one's own motivations and desires, seeing similarities to the "insane". I was brought to tears at times, so moving. And there is tension, that keeps you on the edge of your seat as if it were an action film. You worry for the characters. And talk about character transitions? Well done! All believable and if not so realistic in everyday life.

    Pleasantly Surprised

I did not know much about the story going in to the theater, except that it was a romantic comedy with Brad having some sort of handicap. I believe his acting was spectacular as was Jessica Lawrence's. The story was fun as it moved along yet there were serious moments. I would certainly recommend this for a good night out. Definately worth it.

    Silver Linings Playbook

Was a pretty good movie, great cast and storyline. Cooper & Lawrence's dance scene was Super good, and the part that was suppose to be "Hilarious", was just that, worth going just for that. Definitely a chick flick..but has a great outlook @ mental health issue dealings on the family level, and so much more. Chris Tuckers character is totally hysterical, DeNiro is DeNiro, the consummate pro. This movie doesn't disappoint go see it!

    Oscar Contender for Sure

    by

While you have Argo and Lincoln as clear Oscar frontrunners, this dark comedy is a refreshing addition to the nomination pool. It's hilarious at times (it is a comedy after all), but it's also dramatic at moments. Jennifer Lawrence truly earned her Golden Globe and SAG awards. Characters Robert DeNiro and Chris Tucker and others also strengthened the movie. It's sad at times but I think it's important, it allows for appropriate character development.

    Silver Linings: Thunderstorms to Rainbows

    by HP11

What a terrifically satisfying movie! Fantastic, my hubby and I agree. Pat Solitano's (Bradley's Cooper's) gaze, have to say, transfixed me. The director made the most of Cooper's magnetic eyes; his facial closeups took me into his world fast--and I nearly drowned in the ferocity and clip of his lines. I barely moved a muscle I was so focused on what was going on inside this character. Pat Solitano, Sr. (Robert DeNiro ) had enough quirks to keep things in perspective about "crazy" behavior--and was an amusing balance to Pat Jr.Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) was absolutely perfect and wonderful. A gust of energy, she is honest, raw, flippant, and sensuous without even trying. With her own issues, perfect counterbalance for Pat. I also enjoyed the performances of Pat's mother (Jacki Weaver)-very believable; Dr. Cliff Patel (Anuham Kher)--great lines performed perfectly; and Danny (Chris Tucker)--loved his lines and his energy. I love him to pieces, how could you not?

    Reality

This movie was awesome and I think Bradley should have won something for his portrayal. All the actors and actresses were great. So glad to see Jennifer Lawrence won. Well worth seeing.

    Best Movie of the Year

This movie was so good it made me start to like Bradley Cooper. They both deserved the best actor oscar. This is a much better movie than Argo. So much more character development. Deniro was so good as the OCD dad. An aside from about 20 f bombs this was a clean movie

    I don't understand the hype

    by fzera

I've seen most of the Oscar-winning movies, and this was my least favorite. It wasn't really a drama, nor was it a comedy..

At times, my girlfriend and I looked at each other and shrugged our shoulders. We questioned our judgement about wanting to see this movie due to all of the awards that it had received. It just wasn't entertaining.

    Silver Linings Playbook

First of all, they just don't make these "down to earth" movies like this anymore! Also Jennifer Lawerence is an up and coming actress that will be heard of, for years to come. It should have won more than just one Oscar Award, mainly because of all of the excellent acting; especially, Robert DeNiro, GREAT, as usual! Everybody try and see this one!

I'l Pass was my opinion before seeing it

Another "Beautiful Mind" RomDrama? Not for me.

    But that isn't this story.

It is a story of two people, carrying the battle damage from life's events, who get lost in themselves. Too bad Oscars don't have an "Ensemble" category, because this movie would surely win it. Not a Bradley Cooper fan, but after this, maybe becoming one. Certainly now a Jennifer Lawrence fan now. De Niro? You are seriously going to question a movie chosen by De Niro for some of his best work? Not me, anymore. Jackie Weaver as the meddling hovering Mom hits a new personal best. Chris Tucker hits his supporting role out of the park, while Julia Stiles has survived Bourne to become a ball busting sister-in-law who still loves you (good to see this talented actress getting work. Where is her leading role?).

In the climax of the movie, where everything is on the line for everyone, and hearts get ripped apart, if you don't cry, you may not be human.

    Agree with the hype

I am a fan of both Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence and wanted to see this movie. I had to convince my boyfriend that it isn't just a "chick flick" and he agreed to go. It was an excellent movie, very entertaining, and he ended up enjoying it. Highly recommend seeing this movie, good for all ages (adults) and for both sexes.

    An Unlikely Gem

    by

Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence bring you right into the characters of these two emotionally challenged, unlikely heroes. As the characters develop and adapt to each other and those they are forced to deal with - you can 't help but want to cheer for them as they battle against the odds.
The only drawback is the over-bearing performance of Robert DeNiro in what is supposed to be a supporting role. Either he or his character were so overdone as to make make his performance the only one that can only be considered unbelievable.
Despite DeNiro's overbearance - the two leading characters - Cooper and Lawrence - were good enough as to be considered as academy award worthy performances.

Predictable, yes but a GREAT movie none the less

Bradley Cooper plays his role flawlessly and Jennifer Lawrence is amazing! The movie is real, very believable and a perfect blend of humor, drama and romance. It just makes you feel good! We need more movies like this one!

    Little silly, little slow

For me this was an eh. Not much of a plot, not much of a character study that makes any sense. The only thing I could take away from the message was that everyone is nuts and isn't that sad. My 21 year old son however, found it light and amusing. He liked the sappy ending.

    great storyline!

This was a good storyline. It shows the family as being dysfunctional but REALLY, the characters were quite knowledgeable and caring! Just goes to show you can't judge a book by it's cover. Society lables people but the truth lies within! Great actors and actresses and happy ending!
