A Silver Lining in Silfer Linings Playbook

    by eserver

I went to see it with my 31 year old daughter and we both enjoyed it. Story line was good, acting excellent. Not a "Chick Flick" but not a "Non-Chick Flick". Basically, a feel good movie with a happy ending.

    Unexpected, Brilliant, and Honest

Jennifer Lawrence continues to grow in front of our eyes....absolutely talented and exciting to watch. Bradley Cooper a surprise .... Played this role to perfection. The two of them together were perfect, acerbic chemistry. De Niro went back to some of his old acting talent and became the character that he needed to be. Exceptionally smart writing. Script even seemed improvisational, it flowed so easily and quirky like we actually speak in real life. Beginning a bit manic-y but it becomes apparent why as movie progresses. Will see it again!

    Beautifully done on all counts

Not sure what to expect before sitting down in the theatre, but the story, and its characters drew me in and I was completely engaged during the whole film. These people, beautifully played by all involved, seemed real. My emotions were completely locked up in their happiness (while reminding myself that this is just a movie.) It's dramatic, funny, and so well crafted, especially the writing. Major kudos go out to David O. Russell (writer), DeNiro and Bradley Cooper. A MUST SEE.

    Silver Linings Playbook

Everyone's initial take on this film is a must see Chic- Flick but I would disagree. See this movie for outstanding performances by Bradley Cooper, Robert DeNiro and Jennifer Lawrence. These three actors pull you into the world of Philadelphia minded folks better than any film to date. The movie at times can make you frustrated, laugh and dare I say cry but it's the heart of the film and the Silver Lining that you need to watch in order to receive. Fan rating 8.5 out of 10.

    Good Movie!

I was engaged the entire movie. Unbelievable dialogue and summary of what it is like to be in family with someone who is bipolar and then how the family dynamic plays into it. Very well-written. Well-acted too.

I have to agree with another review that it was almost exhausting to watch but I loved that it ended on a high note! I also found it completely hilarious at times. I do not think it is for kids (15 or under)...

The only reason I said GO vs MUST GO...was because I don't know if this movie is for everyone. Some who have never lived it or who want a lighthearted movie would find it too much. Someone who loves dialogue and does not watching subtle insanity play out in front of them, like me, would probably love it! I loved it!

    Just not Believable

Sure everyone in Philly cusses a blue streak 24/7 but a psycho turns on a dime and lives happily ever after. The betting was ridiculous, what was he betting with on the last bet? I thought he lost everything the previous bet. Great actors all around but the story line wasn't there.

    Long & Boring!

I was encouraged to see this movie by a co-worker who could not stop talking about how fantasticly amazing it was so I finally decided to go. I had also seen the great reviews on it after looking it up.

Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed with the movie overall & thought the story was silly. I was also suprised that Robert DeNiro took to such a lame film, when he's capable of so much better. DeNiro isn't a great fit for that type of role portrayal, its not very flattering to him.

But again, the story was psychotically "SILLY" and was not wowed by the ending like a lot of others were.

And for all you guys out there....it's a total Chic Flic Flop. And that's coming from a woman herself!

    Great movie

    by

I loved this movie. Jennifer Lawrence is the real deal. It's clear why she won the Oscar for Best Actress. Bradley Cooper was stunning. Both characters were real and raw.

    Silver linings playbook

It is a comedic and refreshing story about two dysfunctional characters that have had very traumatic experiences in their lives. How they cope with their experience, and try to resolve and move on in society forms the story. Overall, the story was good and follows a logical pace, except towards the end of the story the narrative is rushed leaving many doubts about the characters actions and decisions.

Really good, but not quite great

    by

Great story, even greater cast, but several sections of the film just seem to drag a bit. Best scenes were all the ensemble moments. Great to see both Cooper and Lawrence stretch a little bit in this movie, hopefully a sign of things to come.

Very glad we went to see this film!

    Definitely Worth Seeing

I can't remember the last movie that I enjoyed as much as this. The characters are so flawed you can't help but love them. So refreshing not listening to adults speak politically correct. I laughed. I cried. Well worth the money.

For the first ten minutes or so hang in there

    by ttlive

It starts off a bit dark, almost unbearable. But hang in there. The moment Jennifer Lawrence comes into the picture, the connection is made, the story comes alive. I am not saying the problem that is the story has its answer. It is more that you know that you are watching a drama that is dark and beautiful at the same time. A drama that is achingly real. I am sure everyone will say the end turns it into a dramatic comedy. And, technically, I guess it does. But, if it is a comedy, it is one that you will never forget. Lawrence should have gotten the Oscar for Wintersbone. She won't get it for this either - RCs seldom get noticed when it comes to that. But I don't know of another Amercian actress that could have pulled this character off as well as she did. I guess this is supposed to be Cooper's movie. He was good. But without her, he would have just been annoying.

OK - wait - he was more than good. It is not easy to pull off BiPolar. He did it.

    Almost there

    by Cetjaf

To keep this brief the movie seemed to be going in an interesting direction but unfortunately instead of keeping it different and interesting they glued on an unfitting romantic comedy ending to the story. What potential wasted...

    Superb

Bradley Cooper was amazing as was Jennifer Lawrence. Great suporting roles - DeNiro was awesome. A moving story that hits all emotions - this is what a movie should be, and with no car chases, CGI, or explosions. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be uncomfortable, but above all you'll be glad you went to see this movie.
