    My daughter loved it.

    by

I had a date with my 13 year-old daughter and she said she was on the edge of her seat the whole movie. I found it very difficult to suspend disbelief enough to not laugh but at least it kept moving. Though some violence I did not find it inappropriate for her. It seems directed towards teenagers so I guess it hits its mark. All in all it was a good date.

    Red Dawn

This could have been a good re-make, but the story line, that was so strong in the original was missing. The "Free America Army" soldiers that were introduced midway into the film could have filled us in as to what actually happened on the larger scale, the inter-personal group dynamics of the Wolverines were not as well developed, and instead of giving us a resolve as did the first one at the end of the story (who won, who survived, the memorial now erected, etc), the screen went black! - then the credits rolled. Not a satisfying experience.

Still love the original more..Cant beat a classic

I was excited to see this movie..young fresh cast, simi changed plot line and sometimes updating never hurts.

Red Dawn is what i consider a cult classic, the emotions are raw and real and the acting was so much easier to connect to.
With this remake i struggled at some points to connect with the characters and look past the casting. I mean tom cruises son..really! Talk about daddy getting you a part.

But anyway the casting was one of my main problems, chris hemsworths part could have been played by anyone but I loved Josh hutcherson and Josh peck.

I did like that this movie was non stop action but i think they used that to cover up the lack of plot and the off the grid lifestyle that they didnt show enough of.

I wish I could go see a movie that i could leave and say yea..i'd see that again. Hell i wanna buy that on dvd. Its been awhile.

Ninety minutes I won't get back

    by lennyo

To paraphrase Forrest Whittaker from Good Morning, Vietnam: This movie sucks the sweat from a dea man's b***s. Terrible acting & terrible dialogue. The only two good things about this movie are 1) it is not longer and 2) the ending credits (that means your trip through the 7 levels is over).

I saw the original in the movies and while it was campy, it worked. There was absolutely nothing compelling about any of the characters and I was actually rooting for the Koreans just so the movie would end sooner! The whole "pining over my girlfriend who is more family than my brother" was lame and tired. Being a former Marine, I was embarassed by their portrayal (more like betrayal), especially the motard that made me cringe every time the camera was on him. The fact that there were a total of 10 people in the theater in Manhattan on a Saturday night should have been a red flag. This was not a movie but a desecration of a movie that meant something way back when.

    My Review of Red Dawn

I don't feel this movie is really worth spending the 9 or 10 bucks to watch. The Original the Main character didn't die, in this one he does. It totally didn't follow the original. Original based in Colorado, this one in Spokane Washington. Big boo for me! I would just rent it when it came out at the Red box and save myself 8 to 9 bucks!

    Red Dawn

Horrid. Carboard actors, amature special effects, grade B movie for sure. For the 8:30pm showing, there were only 4 of us in the audience.

1/2 the movie that it's predecessor is. Get the original on DVD and watch it at home.

    Very Patriotic

This movie will restore your faith in the love for freedom for which America was once known. It gives us hope that we could get it back, but at such a sacrifice.

    Red Dawn

Loved it, but of course I am a conservative patriot.....recommend that every one should go and learn what this country is all about before we have a real Red Dawn.

    Red Dawn

Good movie but could've had a better ending. The guy from Drake & Josh shouldn't have been in there or at least not the main character...that was just wierd. He's definitely too old to have played the part of a teen.

    A Waste of TIme

If you're under 20 years old and you haven't seen a lot of good movies, you'll find Red Dawn a fun diversion. For the rest of us, watch the trailer, accept that you've absorbed anything good this movie has to offer, and save a couple hours of your life for something more useful than wasting it on this film written, acted and directed to appeal only to teenagers.

Worst movie I have ever seen!

This movie is a waste of your time and money. Bad acting, bad plot, bad directing, and so on. This movie has a political agenda, and racial hatred. If kkk can fund a movie, this movie would be one of them. It's like watching a movie from the 60's, were they kill the characters with different ethnic background than Caucasian.

Worth the money and the time

This is not your fathers Red Dawn. This is a lighter (in the character development arena) treatment of the same topic. More explosions, more fighting, more action. Kept true to some parts and then veered off in others. On its own, it was a good movie and for those looking to be entertained, it does just that.

If you're looking for a deep movie, keep looking. I would recommend it though and I saw lots of families in the theater who seemed to enjoy the movie as much as I did. OK for younger kids as well -- not too bloody and of course they had to use the 1-time "F" word for the PG-13 rating, not necessary, but I guess it's like a that second helping of pumpkin pie. You don't have to do it, you shouldn't do it, but you do it anyway because you can.

    Forget about it

Stop comparing to the original masterpiece, and you should enjoy this do-over as much as I did. However, if you're obsessed with comparisons, you will be disappointed and should probably save your money for something else.

    WOLVERINES!!!!!!

I loved every second of it. It kept you on your toes and it drew you in and made you feel the emotions of the characters.
ONLY downfall is I feel they could have done more with the ending.
    WORTH EVERY PENNY!

    Excellent!

Being a former service member I was very impressed by the technical aspect of this movie. I also believe they protrayed the scenerio of an ivasion, the current events included in the movie, and resistance that might be encountered by an enemy were very acurate. I must say the action in the movie was very realistic, the acting not so bad, and they stayed pretty true to the original movie. Over all it was a great movie! I haven't been to a movie in a theatre for at least four years and I went and saw the midnight showing. Great over all movie!
