    Not to be Taken Seriously

    by imara90

If you're going to sit through this movie, be prepared to suspend your disbelief and forget all about reality. The action was interesting but not much else. Action movies need to realize that they don't always need to force the requisite romance into every movie. But damn did Josh from Drake & Josh grow up!

    Did not suck!

Red Dawn did NOT suck. They kept the spirit of the original and modernized it. It's still not better than the original but it came close and I liked it a lot even with the changes they made, there are little things from the original that you'll see. Oh, get this kiddies, it's WAY OPEN for a sequel. I think they want to do that so we can see what happens after the conclusion of the original. BTW, "The chair is against the wall"

    Action Packed, Fun to watch

    by

Not going to get an Oscar, but I think they did a great job of keeping you interested.
The cast is young and just getting their feet wet, but we all start somewhere. I must say, I enjoyed this film more than I expected to. I took a group of teens, they liked it as well.

    My daughter loved it.

    by

I had a date with my 13 year-old daughter and she said she was on the edge of her seat the whole movie. I found it very difficult to suspend disbelief enough to not laugh but at least it kept moving. Though some violence I did not find it inappropriate for her. It seems directed towards teenagers so I guess it hits its mark. All in all it was a good date.

The only good thing about Red Dawn ...

    ... was that it ended.

I tried to like it, I really truly did. I'm a big fan of the original, in all its cheesily overwrought glory.

The fault isn't with the actors. To a man (or woman), they each do their best with the steaming pile of disjointed, awful claptrap they were given. I lay the blame squarely at the writers' feet.

    Red Dawn, the remake.

I loved the original movie and own a copy of it but my wife was bored with it. This remake is soooooo much better! my wife even loved it. I love what they did with the story line. The only issue that I have with the movie is that it has way to much swearing in it. That wasn't needed to make this movie a good movie. Beware of the "F" word.

    Red Dawn

This could have been a good re-make, but the story line, that was so strong in the original was missing. The "Free America Army" soldiers that were introduced midway into the film could have filled us in as to what actually happened on the larger scale, the inter-personal group dynamics of the Wolverines were not as well developed, and instead of giving us a resolve as did the first one at the end of the story (who won, who survived, the memorial now erected, etc), the screen went black! - then the credits rolled. Not a satisfying experience.

Scary! Could happen in the near future if we are not careful!

Incredible film! This was insightful back in 1984 when the original came out. The new ?Red Dawn? may be even more predictive of the future.
I just want to ask everyone, ?Where would the Wolverines have been if in their world, their President had been successful in the disarming of America??

Red Dawn: A Fight for Survival

Starring Chris Hemsworth as an active duty Marine turned renegade leader leading a band of rebels against a communist regime. From its introductory note, Red Dawn seems promising combining economic turmoil and wartime political issues in cinematic fashion. Red Dawn delivers a satisfying movie experience for those with a taste for rebellion. Chris Hemsworth plays a wartime hero returning home only to face the threat of a communist takeover by North Korea in little town America. On the run from a foreign legion with limited munitions and a group of hormonally unbalanced teens, Chris Hemsworth decides to tap into his warrior spirit and combat a foreign invasion. It's a film which showcases the ills of war while weaving an intricate storyline filled with failed romances, giant explosions, and guns blazing.

    Why?

    by usnjohn

I knew this movie was going to be horrible but we all make poor choices now & again. It had no real story line, a lot of crap didn't make sense, no character development, lots of questions unanswered, no explanations to why certain things were the way they were. And the filming itself throughout was awful and I found myself having a difficult time seeing what the heck was going on on many occasions. The Koreans didn't even seem like much of a threat to the point it was getting annoying. I know this is just a movie but I think too many things were just too unrealistic to where it made me frustrated. This movie is more for teenagers in high school who fantasize that they will be able to pick up a 240 Bravo and unload it at full auto on some communists or terrorists like they do in Call of Duty with ease. Yeah its a movie and it is a remake but the fact for it being another remake of another classic movie should be obvious it will suck. I left the theater with my buddy asking why?

    Awesome Movie!

    by rdahljr

This movie was awesome. For all the reviewers who thought this movie was crap, don't listen to them and go see it. For all those reviewers that don't like this movie due to some new type of liberalism, they must be either communists or un patriotic Americans. Don't be afraid of seeing this movie and rejoicing in your American patriotism.
Bottom line: suspend disbelief and enjoy this movie!! Opinions are like a**holes, everyone's got one and those who don't like my review, I seriously think you need to revisit what it means to be a citizen of the United States and pull your head out of your a**!

Cut it a bit short, but it was fun and I would go again

If you want to have some fun go.
Its a ho rah, feel good about being an American movie. It deals with the realities and gruesomeness of war.
I loved the tribute to former and current Jar-heads (yes I am one); "Marines don't die they just go to heaven and regroup"
I had fun with it, its not a critically acclaimed movie and was not meant to be.
Will probably rent it so I can see the uncut version. There were so many parts of it where you could tell they edited out supporting and plot details.
Probably the only thing I would have preferred the in regards to the writing was the plot scenario.
North Korean could not do this nor would they, they would attack Japan before us. There is similar play on the Red takeover scenario in an similar Australian flix called; "Tomorrow When the War Began." I might have written the movie differently by not pointing at the North Koreans who don't have the resources to accomplish this type of scenario, calling them the Eastern Coalition.

    Lame

The special effects are the only aspect that could carry this movie as a rental dvd. The theater experience left me wondering why I wasted gas and money. The serious lack of storyline was the most obvious weakness. After the movie I found myself in comparison mode thinking the original was better....but then the whole concept of Red Dawn escapes me. After all, isn't that what we have strategic nuclear weapons for?...to prevent the very invasion of the USA by glassing over any country that would dare a move so bold

    Great Theater average movie

Red Dawn was a good movie but as soon as it started to get interesting it ended. You felt like you needed to see it again to understand it. North Korea/ China maybe. It just didn't make sense for Nor Korea to come here like that without help from another country.

    Red Dawn rocked

The story line is a little different from the original which is good. The action was on point and I like the way things were blended. Hemsworth did a great job taking control as any Marine would. There are some punch lines in there that likely only Marines will get...Semper Fi!
