Cut it a bit short, but it was fun and I would go again

If you want to have some fun go.
Its a ho rah, feel good about being an American movie. It deals with the realities and gruesomeness of war.
I loved the tribute to former and current Jar-heads (yes I am one); "Marines don't die they just go to heaven and regroup"
I had fun with it, its not a critically acclaimed movie and was not meant to be.
Will probably rent it so I can see the uncut version. There were so many parts of it where you could tell they edited out supporting and plot details.
Probably the only thing I would have preferred the in regards to the writing was the plot scenario.
North Korean could not do this nor would they, they would attack Japan before us. There is similar play on the Red takeover scenario in an similar Australian flix called; "Tomorrow When the War Began." I might have written the movie differently by not pointing at the North Koreans who don't have the resources to accomplish this type of scenario, calling them the Eastern Coalition.

Scary! Could happen in the near future if we are not careful!

Incredible film! This was insightful back in 1984 when the original came out. The new ?Red Dawn? may be even more predictive of the future.
I just want to ask everyone, ?Where would the Wolverines have been if in their world, their President had been successful in the disarming of America??

This remake is slightly better than the first one. The concept is still unbelievable; but hey, it is what it is. The acting was fine, nothing spectacular; but OK. I still have to ask where were the American military during this takeover by North Koreians of all countries. If you want to see some action scenes and don't care about a film being real, then go and enjoy this one.

RED DAWN IS A WINNER

THE OLD RED DAWN WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES-JUST COULD NOT SEE HOW THEY COULD DO IT JUSTICE. GUESS WHAT THEY DID A WONDERFUL JOB!!! IT IS AS GOOD OR BETTER THAT THE ORIGINAL. I REALLY DID ENJOY IT AND WOULD PROBABLY GO AND SEE IT AGAIN!! CHECK IT OUT AND SEE WHAT YOU THINK.

Awesome Movie!

This movie was awesome. For all the reviewers who thought this movie was crap, don't listen to them and go see it. For all those reviewers that don't like this movie due to some new type of liberalism, they must be either communists or un patriotic Americans. Don't be afraid of seeing this movie and rejoicing in your American patriotism.
Bottom line: suspend disbelief and enjoy this movie!! Opinions are like a**holes, everyone's got one and those who don't like my review, I seriously think you need to revisit what it means to be a citizen of the United States and pull your head out of your a**!

It was a typical modern-day action flick. Lots of explosions, shaky-cams, overly stylized people in gritty situations. Entertaining in some spots, cheesy acting in others. Still better than other movies in its genre. Wait for it to come out on Netflix or DVD.

It isn't the original

Red Dawn was a pretty good movie. If you are expecting the original film you'll be disappointed. The story follows a pretty similar plot line, but it does not go as deep as the original. Thanks to modern technology, though, the special effects were better. Worth seeing as the story line is still good, but you'll be disappointed if you are waiting for everything in the original to happen again.

North Koreans as the enemy?? Really?? Everyone knows it should have been Muslims. Not much of a story line like the original, just an average action movie, what do you expect from hollywood who hasnt had an original idea in over a decade!

WORTH THE WAIT!!!

I waited FOUR YEARS for this movie and it did NOT dissapoint!!! It was not asviolent as the original but it was more than just a resistance to occupation from an invading army than the first. It had a 'secret mission' imbedded in it that made it better than the first. The ending was not as bleak as the first either which was a welcomed change. The acting was appropriate because they were gawky teenagers and they acted as such. How would teenagers fight in a situation like this? GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!! I hope they make a trilogy out of it becasue it is certainly worthy of it!!!!

Great movie! WOLVERINES.

I actually thought it was a good movie. it does kinda apply more to the "younger" veiwers, (like me..) but my dad is in his late thritys and says the same thing. there is some language, but its a really good action movie to go and watch, my little brother didn't have any problems, and he is about 10.

Had my Emotions really going

I'll have to say I started this movie not really liking it, but when the whole thing finally got started I was hooked. Don't let the beginning make you leave trust me it gets better

Boring replay of an 80's cult classic with an abrupt ending

This film didn't stray far enough from the 80's version to thrill anyone who saw the original. The plot and characters were left largely undeveloped, and the ending was quite abrupt and clumsy, as if they ran out of budget and just decided to stop. Nice effects and action sequences helped to balance this, but an overall disappointment.

SBM (Dawn of many sequels)

Red Dawn 2012 is a decent modern day adaptation of the 1984 classic. Dialog and relationships are as weak as you remember, making room for relatively tense action scenes. Marvel comics potential influence is an ironic underpinning, with the hero role played by Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and his gang of rebels taking on the moniker "Wolverines". Yes, I know that falls in with the original story, but the irony cannot be overlooked.

I left feeling a bit cheated. Just as the action gets rolling the film ends. In fact, the last inspirational speech was extremely poor.
