    Red Dawn

I don't even know why this remake was made. This movie was just terrible. From the lack of character building, the lukewarm plot, and the horrible ending speech. If I wasn't waiting on my meal, since I saw this at fork & dine in Grapevine, I would have walked out. Moreover, come on Hollywood, there are too many great upcoming writers out here. Please, give them a chance, so that the American people can see fresh, new exciting movies again.

Great movie except for kid (Josh)

That boy CANNOT act. I used to see him on Nickelodeon and I must say that he was better there and should stay there. I'm not mad at him for trying but he can't do a serious role. Other than that the movie was actually good.

    Red Dawn - mindless entertainment

    by rstoey

If you want to see a movie just to see a movie then see this one. Don't get me wrong - it was entertaining but as with a lot of movies in the semi-patriotic, hurray for our team genre this one stretches reality and has the typical plot lines. I saw this movie with another guy friend and it was fun enough for a saturday at the movies but that is the jest of it.

    My Review of Red Dawn

I don't feel this movie is really worth spending the 9 or 10 bucks to watch. The Original the Main character didn't die, in this one he does. It totally didn't follow the original. Original based in Colorado, this one in Spokane Washington. Big boo for me! I would just rent it when it came out at the Red box and save myself 8 to 9 bucks!

A father and 12 yr old son movie

    by exp93

Or if your date is in love with the star of this movie take her on date night. Otherwise, i saw the original and it was better. This move was not bad its just we have seen all this before. The good points are the main hearthrob in the movie is good. Real good...when he was on i was into it. When he was not on i kept thinking these are elite soldiers against kids and well you know...i saw it for free i walked out of the Collection...see that review..good luck

    very absorbing

We watched the remake of red dawn yesterday, did not realize that that time went by. A little different from the original, but worth the money.

    Actually pretty good!

    by jgywing

Despite what critics are saying, Red Dawn was actually a surprisingly good film! It varies significantly from the original in a way that makes it fairly unique for a remake. There were only a couple scenes that I was drawn back to the original film. This is not an oscar award winning film by any means but it was well thought out in my opinion and the graphics and war scenes seemed fairly well designed and plausible. The acting in the film was not terrible and with the story varying a bit from the original it was actually fairly suspenseful and not as predictable as one may think. They did a great job in modernizing this classic movie and if you are in to action films with similar themes than you should definitely give this movie a chance!

    Wait for pay per view

There was a lot of action. The story was just ok. You get sucked into the action before you really know anyone though. Ending kinds sucked. I would wait for this to come out on pay per view.

    Far beyond my expectation!

    by Mile66

Having watched the original Red Dawn many, many times, my expectations were set high up. I was expecting to see the same movie with better FX and new actors. It was not the first movie, redux. Not at all. The story has appealed to a couple of RD1984 moments, and of course the general idea of some young folks that found themselves in a position in which they had to decide to fight or to submit to foreign armed invaders that, without warning, parachuted themselves into an All-American town. The combat scenes were more realistic that those on the original versions, and the outcomes more credible. The end...go check it out by yourself. Expect the unexpected. Great movie. Fast paced, action packed, it feels shorter than it actually is. I sincerely recommend.

    Wolverines!!!

My 18 y/o son and I REALLY liked this movie. As both of us are huge fans of the original, (I saw it in the theaters) we went in with mixed emotions. Boy were we pleased!
They did a great job of paying respect to the old while clearly making a new movie. Good acting, direction and cinematography that kept you at seats edge and a plot that was MUCH better than we expected and plenty of action. The two actors cast to play the brothers (Jed and Matty Eckert) were very likeable and interesting. The three "new additions" to join the wolverines group later in the movie were a GREAT touch! Exciting and realistic gun play rounded out what every fan of this type of movie wants to see.

There is ZERO DOUBT that we will be buying this when it comes out on DVD. But....as serious Red Dawn fans, we just might go see it again in the thearers just for the memories!

Gives the original a run for its money

    by

This was a very good movie, with really great acting. I was a bit concerned with some of the cast (Connor Cruise) but he earned his way in and did an amazing job as did the rest of the cast.

    Very Enjoyable

    by

Me and my kids liked it. A very good modern version, they used current military tactics and world events. I didn't want to see an exact remake of the original.
