    "War is ugly"

Overall this was a fun movie that you could take your kids to, but in my oppinion thats not what a war movie about being invaded on our own soil should be. I get that this is a remake, but they couldv'e taken this new script as an opportunity to really get intense with the building up of the characters (so you actually care about them), and the action itself. Its just a little more unbeleivable when youre watching a war take place where everyone is pretty, and dies without actually bleeding. Im not saying I wanted it to be like Saving Private Ryan, but it needed more grit and realism. For a subject that isn't all that unbeleivable they certainly made it seem as tho it was. That being said: it was still a fun movie.

    Red Dawn

    by

I liked the fact they did not copy the original, keeping the characters names was good. Lots of action, type casting was poor. Having Hemingsworth as the lead and an american did not work for me. I think the movie being a re-make was enough to draw an audience. I enjoyed the story change and the action.

    Red Dawn

Lots of fairly believeable action. Not a cinematic masterpiece, but quite entertaining. Also it is sobering in that if forces one to face the fact that our way of life actually rests on rather fragile underpinnings, and cannot be taken for granted. It doesn't surprise me that the critics don't like the movie; they disapprove of anything violent, or what they perceive as mindless patriotism. They tend to be generally "progressive".

    Had potential

    by

For starters Chris Hemsworth - Jed Eckert, was the only decent actor in this entire movie,
Josh Peck - Matt Eckert was so obnoxious and the character development of Matt Eckert was so terrible that every time I had to sit through his teenage angst, high school lover, throw his friends under the bus, garbage acting I got overly enraged and wanted to walk out. Far cry from Charlie Sheen. Another part greatly disliked by me, was the many rediculous plot holes. "We know where they are, so lets carpet bomb them while they are under ground and not even surround the place so that 90% of them can escape". "Oh, lets place a tracker on one of them, then attack only one of them in the building, let all the others escape, then not follow them with air support so that they have enough time to realize the tracker was placed and leave the tracked man behind" " I was a marine, that means that I have special forces knowledge on Russia and can tell by what cover they are wearing that they are spetznaz"

    RED POOP

I thought this movie was going to suck and it kinda did. It wasn't as horrible as I thought it was going to be. One thing is for sure, Chris Hemsworth is no Patrick Swayze. Terrible casting and cheesy one liners. Not nearly as good as the original.

Gives the original a run for its money

    by

This was a very good movie, with really great acting. I was a bit concerned with some of the cast (Connor Cruise) but he earned his way in and did an amazing job as did the rest of the cast.

Scary! Could happen in the near future if we are not careful!

Incredible film! This was insightful back in 1984 when the original came out. The new ?Red Dawn? may be even more predictive of the future.
I just want to ask everyone, ?Where would the Wolverines have been if in their world, their President had been successful in the disarming of America??

    Not to be Taken Seriously

    by imara90

If you're going to sit through this movie, be prepared to suspend your disbelief and forget all about reality. The action was interesting but not much else. Action movies need to realize that they don't always need to force the requisite romance into every movie. But damn did Josh from Drake & Josh grow up!

    Better than the first

even though I liked the first one but it was set up as a country setting, the new one with the more updated graphics and in the suburbs was really good. All Liberal demectates need to see what is going to happen to our country if we keep going down the current path.

Red Dawn: A Fight for Survival

Starring Chris Hemsworth as an active duty Marine turned renegade leader leading a band of rebels against a communist regime. From its introductory note, Red Dawn seems promising combining economic turmoil and wartime political issues in cinematic fashion. Red Dawn delivers a satisfying movie experience for those with a taste for rebellion. Chris Hemsworth plays a wartime hero returning home only to face the threat of a communist takeover by North Korea in little town America. On the run from a foreign legion with limited munitions and a group of hormonally unbalanced teens, Chris Hemsworth decides to tap into his warrior spirit and combat a foreign invasion. It's a film which showcases the ills of war while weaving an intricate storyline filled with failed romances, giant explosions, and guns blazing.

    Actually pretty good!

    by jgywing

Despite what critics are saying, Red Dawn was actually a surprisingly good film! It varies significantly from the original in a way that makes it fairly unique for a remake. There were only a couple scenes that I was drawn back to the original film. This is not an oscar award winning film by any means but it was well thought out in my opinion and the graphics and war scenes seemed fairly well designed and plausible. The acting in the film was not terrible and with the story varying a bit from the original it was actually fairly suspenseful and not as predictable as one may think. They did a great job in modernizing this classic movie and if you are in to action films with similar themes than you should definitely give this movie a chance!

    Wait for pay per view

There was a lot of action. The story was just ok. You get sucked into the action before you really know anyone though. Ending kinds sucked. I would wait for this to come out on pay per view.
