My daughter loved it.

I had a date with my 13 year-old daughter and she said she was on the edge of her seat the whole movie. I found it very difficult to suspend disbelief enough to not laugh but at least it kept moving. Though some violence I did not find it inappropriate for her. It seems directed towards teenagers so I guess it hits its mark. All in all it was a good date.

Red Dawn Pretty God

I am a fan of the original movie having been a teenager when it came out. In the beginning of the movie it stated "Based on the Movie Red Dawn" so if you saw the original remember its based on it, not a remake and you will enjoy it. If you never saw the original and like action movies you will enjoy it too.. We took our 18 year old son who is a new Marine having just graduated from bootcamp (didn't see original) and he enjoyed the movie. There is Marine Corps aspect added to this film and the terminology is correct from what they (husband and son) say. They got a few laughs out of what they were saying and doing so awesome on that as my husband is always critical of action movies and he liked the film...

So taking all that in or not, my opinion is: My family (3 adults) enjoyed the film. We discussed the film, compared what was alike what was different and we recommend this action film....

I Saw the first one and found this one to be very excellent. I especially liked the fresh new faces on the screen and some from TV shows I really liked the actors. Good Job!

Legit

This movie was a well done action movie complete with a brilliant plot twist that I didn't see coming.The acting was great and Josh Peck did a suprisingly well job in this movie compared to his background in Drake and Josh. It was great to see him grow up. During this movie I found myself laughing out loud and tearing up all in the same scene. This movie sends a message of hope, inspiration and togetherness that Americans will always have and I think that this was DEFINATELY worth the money to go see it. BRILLIANT job. GO SEE IT..

Decent, but it compares poorly to the original

The movie was entertaining even with some technical problems with the plot and development of the story.

The original was not the best movie ever made but it did a better job with developing the characters and story. It was just more believable

This remake is slightly better than the first one. The concept is still unbelievable; but hey, it is what it is. The acting was fine, nothing spectacular; but OK. I still have to ask where were the American military during this takeover by North Koreians of all countries. If you want to see some action scenes and don't care about a film being real, then go and enjoy this one.

Wait for DVD...or an overnight hospital stay.

My fiancé and I go out to a movie almost every weekend as a "date night" and we were running out of adult movies to see, so we thought we would give Red Dawn a try. Being a Marine myself, and seeing it in a Marine town with mostly Marines in the theater, it was funny to watch people try to portray our culture and jargon. There were times where the Marines in the theater were laughing at the marines in the movie because they were using words that we use, but in the wrong context. Overall, it just wasn't an entertaining movie. If you've been in the military and you need a good laugh, then maybe check it out when it comes to cable. My recommendation is to pass on this.

RED DAWN Kick's A++

I saw the original several times throughout the years and it is right up there with it! I was a little hesitant at first with this re-make when I heard it was only 93 minutes long and the original was much longer! One thing it did is take out a lot of the dead space, meaning the boring parts! This movie is non-stop action and well worth the money to go see in the big theater! They should have used China as a realistic scenario for bad guys, I felt they were trying to be politically correct by using North Korea which seemed to me NOT so realistic with today's events.

Very Enjoyable

Me and my kids liked it. A very good modern version, they used current military tactics and world events. I didn't want to see an exact remake of the original.

Don't compare it.

Don't compare it to the original just go and enjoy it. Moves pretty quickly but good action throughout. If you've got a a couple of hours to kill you could do worse .....(killing them softly). I give it a B...enjoy.

Pretty good show

I enjoyed this movie, but it's not for kids though, and I can't compare it to the original because I've never seen the original. The action was good, and Josh Hutcherson gave the best, funniest performance. A definite recommend.

Still love the original more..Cant beat a classic

I was excited to see this movie..young fresh cast, simi changed plot line and sometimes updating never hurts.

Red Dawn is what i consider a cult classic, the emotions are raw and real and the acting was so much easier to connect to.
With this remake i struggled at some points to connect with the characters and look past the casting. I mean tom cruises son..really! Talk about daddy getting you a part.

But anyway the casting was one of my main problems, chris hemsworths part could have been played by anyone but I loved Josh hutcherson and Josh peck.

I did like that this movie was non stop action but i think they used that to cover up the lack of plot and the off the grid lifestyle that they didnt show enough of.

I wish I could go see a movie that i could leave and say yea..i'd see that again. Hell i wanna buy that on dvd. Its been awhile.

I was wary of this remake when I heard about it, since the original is a classic, but I ended up really liking it. They changed it enough that there were plenty of surprises, yet kept some things from the original. The only thing is that it should have been a longer movie. Overall, it was inspiring, patriotic, and full of action.

Fun

I wasn't expecting great things from Red Dawn from all of the bad reviews but I'm glad I went anyway. I really enjoyed the movie and there was a lot of action and suspense to keep you watching. I would recommend this movie to everyone. Go see it!
