The Man With the Iron Fists

Funny movie, glad it had a plot you could follow. There was a lot of blood too. It was kind of like a "spoof" movie. Not for young kids.

    Quentinssencial!

If you like Tarantino stylized movies, this is a good one.

Anybody who calls themselves RZA ( Born Robert Diggs a.k.a. Prince Rakeem, Bobby Steels, The Rzarector, and The Abbott) is a very special kind of guy, but his movie is remarkably entertaining, and he did everything - wrote it, directed it, stars in it, and probably cleaned up after everybody went home.

    It's fun.

Was hoping RZA would give us a taste of the old school; should'a known from the trailer...

    by

Closer in style to post Tsui Hark wu-xia films and Ma Wing Shing comic books than to old school martial art films, despite cameos from Gordon Liu and Chen Kwan Tai. But still, the movie ends up better than most (but not all) of the films in this genre from HK/China, over the last decade
Looking forward to buying the blu-ray.

RZA makes his directorial debut with this violent over-the-top chopsocky homage and proves his beat-downs are just as mind-blowing as his beats. If this has already come and gone to your local multiplex, and you can't hold out for the rental, break out Mortal Kombat and re-Enter the 36 Chambers.

    Not for some

    by

If I had known this was a Quentin Tarantino movie movie I would have known it wasn't for me. Too much blood and gore and too little content.

For old school martial arts movie fans

    by

This is an old school movie with new F/X. The story is simple, plot to steal gold, betray the clan leader so the young guys can have it all. Son comes to get revenge, assassins attack him.
Good guys, bad guys, good girls, bad girls. It all revolves around the local brothel.
The fighting was good, the acting okay. The music wasn't to my liking but it is the mainstream rap-pop of the 2012 crowd. Its not for young kids, simply because of the brothel location and implied sexual connotations.
This is geared for those that liked the old kung-fu style movies. I liked it, and it was worth the ticket price.

Awesome theatrical debut by the Rza

This was a movie that I was waiting to see for quite some time now. I have to say that now that I have seen it, I look forward to the Rza learning from this experience and becoming a full fledged director as he is already a prominent name in the music industry. The film reminded me of many of the kung-fu movies that I used to watch on the weekend when I was kid. It didn't try to recreate anything new, just tell a classic story in a different way - and it worked in my opinion. You could tell that the Rza, Eli Roth & Quentin Tarantino had fun with this project - which is a good thing. I feel that the scene transitions could have been a little smoother, as well as a bit more story to flesh out the other clans, the blacksmith and other characters as they were interesting in their own right. Other than that I think that this movie was pretty good. I'm glad that I went out to support. Keep up the good work Rza!

    Undescribable!!

Written by Rza, Directed by Rza and the only movie that would star Rza. Simple, silly, funny with a portly Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu who is the real star. Scenery is awesome, but the 80s Prince-like wigs and costumes make it a comedy. Lots of John Woo kung fu action. Entertaining to say the least and I am glad I went. Wouldn't go see it again, but would catch it as a first run t.v. feature. It is more than mildly entertaining.

A Mixed Up Mess Not Even Suitable For Asian Subtitles.

This is, by far, among the worst movies commercially released to the domestic market this year, and I've seen hundreds. Do not be fooled by the talent billing. A good bet would be if it were even a remote possibility, they'd one or all buy this movie and destroy it, rather than have anyone see such a bad example of their work. This dismal waste of millions of dollars masquerading as a commercial entertainment product can only be blamed on its producers, since there are no other notable personal contributions elsewhere, including set decoration. Save your money. This one's so awful, it makes last year?s ?Conan? re-release look Oscar worthy.

I don't think I was the target audience for this movie, but it was entertaining and completely earnest. It was an ode to fantasy. Not my fantasy. That's okay...

Don't go in with high expectations

    by

So me and my fiance decided to spend the $20 to see this movie and we believe it was cheesy good! It was like a mixture of a cheesy 70's black kung fu movie mix with a cheesy Chinese movie. We knew it wouldn't be good but we enjoyed laughing at it. I would say if you want to laugh then see it. But if your going to go in thinking it will be awesome you will be let down. The affects were so so of course blood squirting everywhere! So yeah that was it lol!

I really enjoyed myself while watching this movie. I felt like I was experiencing the movie instead of just looking at a screen. It kept you guessing the whole time and I would see it again.

    Man With the Iron Fists

Good story line, held true to the old school. Story was not about the man with the iron fists, but the Pink Brothel. Fight scenes were decent for what they were; were not long enough. I think that the movie could have been longer to develop it a bit more. All in all it was a decent movie. If you are a true fan of the old school, it is good viewing.
