Lawless: Illegal Giggle Juice

I really like Tom Hardy. All man. He is one of those bad-*** tough guys that doesn?t talk ****. Doesn?t need to. He?ll just take your head off and be done with it. This is a characteristic I think has been lost in many of the tough guys in movies.

Problem is, this movie wants to focus on the exploits of Jack, the youngest brother. A conflicted and insecure vagina, totally out of place compared with his brothers. So, what could have been an interesting story about outlaws, like the marketing suggested, the film becomes a coming-of-age story á la ?I?m OK You?re OK?.

Seemed Empty...

Let me start by saying, I love the idea this movie seemed to be trying to portray. The closing line really summed it up. After all that chaos and everything they fought through, basically waging war, they ended up in a life all too quiet trying to blend back into a normal way of life. The imagery that leaves me with it brilliant. NOW, that being said, I felt that there was just too much filler, and the Charlie Rake fella was poorly reconstructed. He almost became a comic book villain. Tom Hardy's character is brilliant, Jason Clarke is basically non-existent until the final 5 minutes, and Shia LeBouf is just as annoying and shameless as in real life. Tom Hardy pushed me over the edge on this movie, and I walked away feeling good about it. It could have been SO much better though, especially with the backdrop of that urban legend about the Bondurants. Nick Cave should have used real bluegrass as well, instead of bastardizing his own take on it, and knows nothing about it.

Best movie I've seen in a long time! entertaining through out the movie and based on a true story which makes it even better. and for you ladies Tom Hardy is easy on the eyes.

Amazing

This movie is amazing. It has action, comedy, it has depth, it has everything. It has protagonists you root for and an antagonist you hate. All the characters are well played, but Tom Hardy stood out the most. This is one of his best movies to date. Some of the scenes can be gruesome, but well justified. All around, great movie. A must see!

This was a great movie great acting,good story line me and my lady diidnt know what to expect out of this movie but but it was well worth the admission Go see it you will like it FilmJunky out!

As far as the violence noted.. I don't think it was especially more violent than any movie with this particular topic (I mean come on people, it's a movie about people who are LAWLESS!!!!) but I think the complaints were more in regards to the TYPE of violence.

*spoiler*

There are a couple instances where you get to see tar and feathering, knifing from navel to nose. The type of things generally you don't see a ton of in movies. As well as guns. :)

The plot was ok, the lines were mostly ok. The acting was ok, the movie was basically ok. It's not a warm squishy heartfelt movie, but it's amusing for a couple of hours.

DO EVERYONE A FAVOR!!!! DO NOT TURN ON YOUR CELL PHONES!!!! Yeah ok, so that's a common rule... but it's not a "light" movie. The whole feeling is designed to be dark, and much of it takes place at night or in dark alleys or hidden in the bushes. HELLO PEOPLE!!!! The light from your cell phone is distracting!

Excellent Movie

Very interesting movie with good acting. A little gory at times.
Terrific end to story that is unusual these days. I am going to get the book
it was based on, I enjoyed it that much. Wife also liked it which
is unusual for her on this type of movie. Recommend for adults, kids not so much.

The movie was good, I did laugh just a tad, cried well no not that I can recall. I was however just a little pissed I felt like they could have given the brother a little more power, if you've seen the move then you know what I mean, if you haven't seen it then after youve seen it you'll know exactly what I mean.. Overall, I must say though it was very good....

You Want these Brothers to Win

I was totally engrossed with these 3 brothers in that I wanted them to win their battle with Prohibition. I was brought into their world through suspense, action, inner struggle of survival, brotherly bond, and courtship. The different personalities of the brotherly bond made this a great story. I usually choose comedy over anything else, but this movie intrigued me. I am definitely pleased that I did and will see this movie again. Plus, Tom Hardy is not bad to look at either.

To date one of the best films I have seen in a long time. It is very violent but it is true to the era. The acting was superb! I will be adding this film to my personal video library. 4 stars!!

Interesting story--hubby enjoyed it!

Personally, there was way too much violence and blood in this movie for me to handle--but the story made up for it. Three brothers, sticking it out through thick and thin.. doing everything to stay invincible. It was a good break from a lot of other action movies that have released lately. If you're bored on a week night and thinking about heading to the theaters, this is a good movie to watch at the cinema.. otherwise, wait for it on to release on DVD. Either way, interesting movie-- good acting, story, and drama.

If you have to pay to go, don't bother. If it is a rainy afternoon and you have a free ticket and there is nothing else to watch go ahead. It is a pass for me.

Dunno about this one

One would expect all these no doubt fantastic actors to select their projects with concise precision. Their craft is beyond imitation, and their portrayal of characters uniquely defined. It is in fact the dramatic deliverance in this piece that was particularly enjoyable.
Unfortunately, the screenplay didn't keep up with this bargain. The characters followed a path that was cliché at best. There might have been a token surprise here and there, but, let's face it, we've seen this one before.
I read in a review somewhere that this was a Bonnie and Clide for modern times...wow... Go have a look for yourselves.
I can't chalk this up as a bad film, though. As I said, the acting was flawless enough to keep me interested, and the cinematography and music was perfectly orchestrated. Perhaps the screenwriters felt it was enough to stamp the "based on a true story" at the opening and just let it coast.

Lawless Is Not Flawless

This has to be the worst movie I've seen in years. It dragged for ever. Have the time I couldn't understand what they were saying (Southern drawl overkill) or they just mumbled. What a waste of $.
