    Total waste of talent

    by Muro128

This movie had great stars and it wasted so much talent. I cannot say any one moment was really worth remembering. The dialog was not funny. I'm a fan of all the star... what a let down. The last skit that Jim Carey did seemed twisted sick along with his brain rapist title. The only magic to this movie was it made the fun go away.

    The Mediocre Burt Wonderzzzzz...

I love Steve Buscemi. I adore Steve Carrell. I really like Olivia Wilde & Jim Carey. I loathed this movie. If The Incredible Burt Wonderstone was a burger, it would have been inedible. I would have gotten food poisoning & could have vomited the rancid meal. Unfortunately, I cannot purge the hour and a half of crap from my memory. I almost fell asleep. I wasted a good Sunday night and a good $35. My only solace is that one of you will read this and heed my humble review. Stay away, dear reader. If you like a good story line, sharp writing, or a funny comedy, do not see this movie. And if you must, because you're an 18 year old boy, please wait until you can rent it from netflix or red box. It is definitely not worth more than $1. Why didn't I walk out? Because the first 5 minutes was good. And i was hoping, wishing, & praying it would improve. Alas, it did not.

About what I expected, which wasn't much

I'm not a Steve Carell fan, and this movie did nothing to make me feel otherwise. It was a tired and depressing story, and that led to an implausible ending. Jim Carrey and Olivia Wilde (formerly in the House series) had decent performances, but they couldn't make up for a bad plot and two unconvincing lead actors (Carell and Buscemi). Save your money for a movie that instead will star Carrey and Wilde.

    Advantageous Rivalry

    by

?The Incredible Burt Wonderstone? movie centers around a plot involving the magician characters of Burt Wonderstone (Steve Carrell), Anton Marvelton (Steve Buscemi), Jane (Olivia Wilde), and Steve Gray (Jim Carey). Steve Carrell and Steve Buscemi give off the wall but convincing performances as magicians who also happen to be both business partners and best friends. Olivia Wilde also gives a natural performance as a woman working for Burt Wonderstone and Anton Marvelton.Jim Carey shrewdly plays an eccentric magician that serves both a humorous and unconventional role in giving great competition to Burt Wonderstone. Carey?s Gray character also helps to eventually bring out the best in Burt Wonderstone on a professional level. It is just entertainment, but I believe that the competition and enemies part also applies in real-life. When seen in a positive light, enemies and competition can bring out the brilliance in a person via professional, spiritual, and/or emotional levels.

    A hilarious movie!

A must see if you like to laugh at stupid humor. Also, if you know some of the Las Vegas hotel history, it makes it even funnier. I loved it! I was expecting to laugh and be entertained and I was certainly not disappointed. This movie was hilarious!

    Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey was the real star of that film. Steve Carrell is not funny in opinion.

    Has moments...

    by pedsarq

These actors are top notch, there's no denying that, but the story is weak and there aren't enough good scenes to recommend this comedy. I was looking forward to a comeback for Carrey, this just isn't it.

Prest-O Change-O....Poof! The laughs have disappeared!

    by

I went in ready to laugh 'till I had tears in my eyes, but I was disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the movie, but it lacked the big laughs I was expecting. There were a few magic tricks I was awed by (only a few). Jim Carrey's "Chris Angel" type character was morbid and gross. (Loved the hair though!) I did like the journey that Steve Carell's character went through and the ending was nice. I was glad their "magical friendship" was saved. Olivia Wilde was beautiful as usual, but I felt her character lacked a reason for being there. She never would have stuck around in real life. But - if you are looking for a mindless way to spend 2 hours of your afternoon, and if you are a Steve Carell fan, then I recommend this movie. It was OK.

A decent film for what it is

    by

Going to see a film with Steve Carell, Jim Carrey, and Steve Buscemi you can pretty much know what to expect. They have their own style of comedy. Carrey was Carrey and Carell was Carell. But Buscemi's performance was touching and Olivia Wilde was a good balance in all of this as the woman who wanted good things for "burt" and herself but wasn't about to let herself be like all the other woman he had objectified over the years. The crudeness is never too much for my taste thank god it didn't devolve into rampant bodily fluid jokes or something. It just worked as a comedy. It was touching, the actors could act (again, we're talking comedy-level judging here), it told a story and had abit of life lesson in it. This isn't a $15 Imax must-see blockbuster nor is it a dollar matinee. Just a good little comedy worth the average ticket after you've seen the other good ones.

    Not funny enough

    by

The movie had a good theme and an all-star cast. The old school Steve Carell was juxtapositioned against the new school Jim Carey. The theme was the coarsening of society. The cast and acting were good. The only weakness was that the material just wasn't funny enough.

    Grody, Tacky and Humorless

This movie was distasteful and hard to watch. A lot of gruesome tricks that aren't related to magic in any way. Just bad. I want my money back.

    Not so Incredible

Steve Buscemi was a dud as Wonderstons partner.Thank god they had Jim Carry and James Gandoifini to save the movie. The theater was quite thru most of the movie but did have its moments.
