Surprisingly good and worth your $$$ at the movies

When I first saw the previews a few months back, the only reason I maybe thought about seeing this was to catch Bruce Willis. The title just had me thinking it was going to be some corny comicbook like action movie. This movie was anything but, as it was a mix of action/sci-fi/drama/ with a bit of humor thrown in here and there. The running time of 2 hours seems long but it's pretty eventful all the way through the film with little down time. It reminded me a little of "Inception" with more action. Bruce Willis is great at whatever age he happens to be these days and the unsung hero of this one is the little kid who gives quite the performance for someone under the age of 8. The story manages to go into great depth of Bruce Willis' character, both as himself and the younger version. It's a great story with someone trying to get something back that was taken away and what they are willing to do for it. If your looking for a good movie this weekend, check this one out.

    Looper? Should be called Blooper!

The Cold Light of Day and Looper were two of the most boring films I've seen this year... What's up Bruce?

Would not recommend spending your money on this one... wait for PPV or better yet, go rent it at Redbox.

Cinematography was above average, and I actually enjoyed Emily Blunt in her role.

NOT recommended for children as it is pretty graphic concerning violence and sex.

If you are looking for a good film to go see, I highly recommend "End of Watch" and "Trouble With The Curve"... in that order.

The best movie of 2012 so far

Go in knowing as little as possible and you will be handsomely rewarded. Nothing this original has been seen on the silver screen since Inception, and Bruce Willis hasn't been this good in years. If you miss it, you'll regret it.

    unique, but kinda pointless

The plot is unique, it kinda reminded me of Inception, only much less exciting. Overall the plot turned out to be kind of pointless and doesn't make much sense. Bruce Willis is awesome though, he's probably the only reason why I'm not rating the movie "NO".

    The plot...it actually had one

The storyline is pretty decent for a Hollywood movie these days. The action scenes between bruce willis and "his younger self" are also great. Now a days I ask myself...is this movie worth the $12 to see. This wasn't a let down, i originally wanted to see taken 2 but my GF and her friends wanted to see #looper instead. I wasn't really disappointed and the ending was good I thought.

If you like Sci-FI,Action,Thriller,Suspense all wrapped up like a burrito then go see this movie.

    WELL THOUGHT OUT PLOT.

    by

great details in the scenes. i love how they brought up and explained things later on in the movie instead of us questioning it. Joseph did a great job. didn't know he was a producer (: LOVE LOVE LOVE! bruce willis...damn you're so bad***. i love it. (: overall 10/10. didn't make time travel look like ****.

    JOSEPH GORDON LEVITT WOO!!!
this movie is for anyone who likes action, adventure, a little comedy, and sci fi (:
not for those who think sci fi is weird.

Go see it before you get spoiled

    by

I thoroughly enjoyed Looper. I am a fan of time travel, sci-fi, and action movies, so I had no reason to pass this one up. The marketing campaign, thankfully, has chosen to give you no more information than you get in the first 10-15 minutes of the movie, which is a relief. It is amazing. Jarring, beautiful, and one that'll keep you thinking long after the credits roll. It uses time travel in a way that most time travel movies do not. Things are fluid, and time can be altered, just beware what you change.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt does a SUPERB job embodying a young Bruce Willis. His face prosthetics will only seem distracting for a second, but you will soon become engrossed with the world of the film. It worked for me, especially after seeing both old and young Joe side by side. The similarities to Bruce Willis are amazing, and Gordon Levitt has Willis's facial peculiarities down pat. It's great to watch.

What are you doing still reading this? GO NOW!

    Painful

    by kuffy01

Twists and turns, clever plot twists, blah blah blah. This turns out to be a long movie with a buzz kill ending. The special effects suck. And at the end, you were supposed to say "ooohh, the grand irony". Except what you really are thinking is "how the heck did this get 3 or 4 stars from the critics"? Really, it'll be great when it is on HBO (probably 5000 times). Save it for that.... It drags, bad.

    I expected more......

    by

I expected more. I expected a deeper plot and more surprises. JGL did an excellent young BW. I kept imagining playful banter between the two on set; I bet they had fun with it. The little kid reminded me a little of Damien....or should I say every toddler who ever thru a temper tantrum. There were too many loose ends at the end of the movie. Seemed like a hurried ending....as if they ran out of money or simply said, "okay. This isn't going anywhere so let's wrap it up." Either that, or it was a purposeful set up for a Part II.

I can't say "don't go" because it kept my interest but if the movie leaves town before you get a chance, don't bother driving to the next town to pick it up...and don't fret over missing it on the big screen. Very suitably could be put on the wait-until-it-come-out-on-DVD list. I, however, you are bored and simply want to go see SOMETHING...I'd say this movie is worth the watch.

    Kind of Slow

The concept of the movie was interesting, but the pace was a little slow. The ending was abrupt too. I was slightly disappointed. If you liked the pace of "Signs", then this will be right up your alley.

    Action packed

If you want a movie where you have to think, and keep you guessing throughout the full 2 hours then "Looper" is the movie for you. Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are in this movie and do a rgeat job portraying time traveling and what the world could look like 30 years down the road. It was a wild time, and it kept me guessing on what would be happening in every scene. It was worth the money, and i will have to see it again to get more out of it. You think you know what will happen next, but you are wrong. Go check it out. It was a wild ride. This movie is not for kids, for there is nudity and foul language.

    One word: Intelligence.

    by

    Just. Go.

    (Spoilers ahead!)

The guy 2 seats down from me left this movie with one thought: "Beautiful, it was a bunch of baby killing." If that's all you can take away from this amazing movie, then you're retarded (FYI: Only 1 kid is killed.)

Looper is everything Sci-Fi is and has needed for quite sometime with intelligent writing and awesome acting, combined with excellent action and story.

    Half the story

    by marcie4

Either they are saving half the story for the sequel, or the writers on this storyline missed some interesting twists that would have made this movie actually interesting.

    Great movie

First of all, try not to read magazine´s reviews that will tell you the plot of the movie. Just try to watch it without knowing nothing. I do that, and eventually read the reviews after watch any movie, trying to find more light or to catch details that I didn´t see. And coming back to Looper, the mail dilema of the characters is what to do if you have the chance to prevent a future crisis by doing something illegal and morally wrong in the present. Is that right? How sure are we that we are doing the correct thing? What is our moral authority to act in that way? The manking have been asking if the end justified the means, and we still are. "Ruin lives today, and it will result in a greater good for the future", it´s the kind of speech of pro war leaders. And I think that this movie will let you open different doors to approach this matter. Besides, the movie has great actions scenes, Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis are great together. Must see.

    Looper

    by

The movie is loopy!! I spent a lot of time trying to connect the dots. On the other hand the flick was a very interesting twist on the idea of time travel. The acting was very good.

WhipSmartBanky Watched Looper. Really good. Keeps your concentration. I know there were complaints about the ending, but I think it was appropriate.

7billion_plus Looper-- I've almost watched enough times to be ok with what they did to Joseph Gordon Levitt's face
