    Great Concept, Poor Execution

    by gotamd

I really wanted to enjoy Looper, but found myself disappointed. It was overly graphic and violent (including extremely creepy violence toward children), but that wasn't my main complaint. I can't say too much without going into spoilers, but I thought the ending was unnecessary given the way time travel and memory is explained throughout the rest of the movie. That was probably the largest letdown. I was also hoping and thinking that there would be more cooperation between the olde and younger looper given that they were the same person, but they didn't get too deep into that relationship.

Overall, it's a very interesting concept, but it didn't meet my expectations. Overall, I give it a "meh".

    Subplots Take Over

I would have enjoyed the movie more if the 'Looper' plot had been developed more and the subplots didn't distract so much from the 'Looper' story. The story seemed to be more memorable from the telekenetic arena rather than the that of the Looper.

    Looper? Should be called Blooper!

The Cold Light of Day and Looper were two of the most boring films I've seen this year... What's up Bruce?

Would not recommend spending your money on this one... wait for PPV or better yet, go rent it at Redbox.

Cinematography was above average, and I actually enjoyed Emily Blunt in her role.

NOT recommended for children as it is pretty graphic concerning violence and sex.

If you are looking for a good film to go see, I highly recommend "End of Watch" and "Trouble With The Curve"... in that order.

Rian Johnson has done it yet again...

I'm usually a pretty quiet person while watching a movie. While Watching Looper, I found myself exclaiming an expletive before I could stop myself. This is another one you'll want to see again just to wrap your head around everything. It pulls at your heart and mind much more than you'd expect - and you'll love every second of it.

    Awesome & Smart

    by

This movie was amazing. The story is Front & Center, not visual effects or the actors etc. This vision of the future is dirty/making it realistic, based on todays real economic expectations of the future. The explanations of what's going on happen really quickly within 20-30 seconds, not being long winded and getting it out of the way. Reminds me of Gattica and the Fifth Element, some great futuristic movies from the 90's. The story truly dictated the movie, not actors on screen time - you dont see Emily Blunt till the 3rd act. Bruce and Joseph were awesome; JGL did a great job being bruce willis - the eyes, smirks, head tilts. All the characters were rich and well rounded.
*Spoiler* Oh and the death scene of the character Seth/Older Seth played by Paul Dano / Frank Brennan was so clever and original, gory yet not gory.

I saw this as an afternoon matinée for $8, but i would gladly pay more to see it again if it were the case.

    A Perfect Film

    Good movie, see Looper

    by pwong13

Time travel movies...this one did it pretty well. J. Gordon Levitt is kicking butt these days, he does great job as early version guy - matching Bruce Willis character...as future older guy. And the little boy was smart, funny and creepy scary when he needed to be. Go see this movie.

    LOOPER

LOOPER was a very action packed movie. The acting was good especially the little boy.
It reminded me of Terminater in a way. It definitely a movie for adults because it is very violent

    Shrug ...

    by Frankns

I'm not sure Looper isn't intended to confuse the audience and get it talking about "what if ..." and "Does that mean that she's his mother??" There probably are NO answers ... only a bunch of questions. If that was a deliberate choice, I vote thumbs down.

Can Never Get Enough Bruce Action

Nice style to the dialogue & pacing that gave the scenes a dark comedy quirkyness that elevated the violence and the action. the plot unfolded at the perfect times in the movie to make it comprehendable just as you were about to say "what?" bruce willis was good as the wisened older "joe" and joseph gordon leavitt created a dark, personable, perfectly conflicted younger "joe". the plot took unexpected twists and turns without being overly obvious or contrived, and we didn't see the ending coming. have to say one of the comments that we kept talking about was leavitt's makeup as the young "joe"...it just seemed to obvious and almost "perfectly fake". we couldn't decide if it was intentional as he was so style conscious and had an affinity to a glamorized retro look, or if it was just a matter of trying to hard to look like bruce willis, in particular his lips & eyebrows were almost cartoonish.overall perfect blend of sci-fi, action, stylish editing and art direction. good good movie!

    Fantastic

I was very impressed with everything about this movie...except the two scenes of female nudity. (One very brief, and one very long). Unnecessary and gross!
But overall: Great acting, Great filming, Great writing, Great directing...and such a fascinating plot.
Kind of "tough" movie. Some folks find it hard to watch. It is pretty morbid sometimes. And it's very tense.
    Blew me away!

Parents: Had alot of foul language (many uses of the "f" word and taking God's name in vain).
2 scenes of topless females. Lots of violence, gore, and tense scenes (many involve a child). A few times it's very obviously implied that a couple sleeps together, but the act is never seen (just aLOT! of kissing/grabbing/waking up next morning/etc).

    slow down! Speed up!

The movies starts out moving really fast, I found my self repeating what was happening in order to be sure I understood. Then it hit a wall and ssslloowweed down. To the point where my husband and I were fidgeting in our seats and looking at the time. This movie isn't bad but I would have enjoyed watching it at home where I could have paused to help with understanding the hard parts and to be able to get up and take a break during the drawn out parts.

    Looper is no pooper

Looper was fun, fast, and clever. If I were to critisize anything at all, it simply would b what the hell were they thinking with JGL's eyebrows and obvious lipstick .I understand they needed to change the nose, etc to get him to resemble a young BW, but cmon....he looked like a weird drag queen in a few scenes.
    barring that,
good sold film. I hope there's a sequel with less lipstick.

    Good time travel story

We don't like Bruce Willis, but, this was a great story and the acting was great. The child who plays the rain maker is a really good actor.

    Great time travel story.

conorgilmour Well that was stunning. Why can't all films be as good as that? Is that too much to ask for? #Looper
