GOOD NOT GREAT

MY BENCHMARK FOR SCI FI IS THE MATRIX (THE FIRST ONE, THE REST OF THEM SUCKED). THIS WAS NO MATRIX. GOOD. NOT GREAT. MAYBE IF I SAW IT AGAIN I MIGHT CHANGE MY MIND.( LOTS OF DETAILS IN THIS MOVIE. SOMETIMES LEADING TO CONFUSION). PRETTY TYPICAL ACTION MOVIE WITH THE TIME TRAVEL CONCEPT THROWN IN. NOTHING SPECIAL IN MY OPINION..

Not about the movie

To some of these reviewers like Rayam.

I would like to see some reviews that are less mechanical. To me, it sounds like you are reviewing this movie like you are going to be graded on it by your film teacher. Making statements like "it fulfilled the basic requirements for a film." and "it contained a plot and tension" makes me want to smack someone. Please consider reviewing movies in the future a little more like you are humans instead of textbooks.

I still want to see this by the way.

"Looper" For Sure

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this movie. It was very original with a great cast. Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, & Emily Blunt were all excellent. And the kid who played the little boy almost steals the movie.
It is very violent, but I still heartily recommend it!

Not What I expected

Wow This movie is a true work of art. It kept me guessing until the very end, which is rare these days. I liked the fact that they kept it believable and did not go overboard with the time travel aspects or the action. Definitely a must see.

Old plot, sick twist

Many movies have tried the - we circle in time - plot, but never has one sunk to the level of the main character going around killing kids because of who they may become. People were walking out and not returning.

Great concept

The verdict is out. It appears if you are a troubled male enduring a violent life style, a woman from your past, or future, is likely responsible. If you want proof, look no further than this film. All major characters are deeply affected by females. Whether it's a mother, a wife, or a hooker, they all determine the destiny of the world.
I won't give it away, but do pay attention to the various female driven pointers, from small to large. It's all there. Ladies are the oil that runs the machinery of the world.
This was no doubt an entertaining film. The story kept me interested. Particularly because the promotional trailers did something abnormal by today's standards: they didn't give away the whole thing. I didn't expect it to follow the path that it does. Two thumbs up right there.
It's worth mention what a fastantic job they did making Joseph Gordon-Levitt look like a younger version of Bruce Willis. Frightening.

Good Entertainment Movie

Definitely a movie that suspends time...two hours went by pretty quickly. The movie in my opinion was realistic as far as a Science Fiction Flick is considered. Most aspects of the plot were suspenseful and plausible when you consider time travel being possible in the future. If you do not like science fiction or the thought of time travel, do not see this movie. Otherwise if you like science fiction, enjoy Bruce Willis...then go see this movie. I think it had wonderful entertainment value.

This is not a spoiler alert because I will not reveal the twisted ending of the movie. You will not see the ending unraveling in the manner it does. Looper has a wonderful well written plot and surprise ending that will catch you off guard. I really do not think you will figure out the end until you see it, or you choose to read a spoiler alert from another reviewer.

I just think that both of the main characters should have worn colored contact lenses. ;-)

Better than I thought it would be

Very entertaining movie that keeps you thinking throughout. One of the better movies Bruce Willis has been in for a long time. Good acting by all and a twisted story line.

Stinker

It has been years since I've thought about leaving during the middle of a movie (multiple times). Sadly, this movie didn't live up to the hype - at all. Sad performances by some big league stars in addition to the movie lacking cohesiveness.

I don't need yor social commentary

Good premise, Bruce Willis is great as always.....It was a good movie up for the most part. Then the director decided to make a statement on the ills of society. YAWWWWN go preach to someone else. Terrible ending. I suggest you wait for the DVD.

Best Fall Movie of the Year

I was a little skeptical at first when I saw the trailer. After having so many new movies come out that were related to time travel fail, I was expecting the same to happen in this one ,but that wasn't the case.

Looper was filled with a lot of plot twists ,so even if you think you had it all figured out something would happen that would completely make your prediction impossible.

I, myself, am not the biggest fan of action movies ,but was very entertained and deeply moved throughout the entire film.

Must watch!

This movie drags and drags and drags..... I t was confusing and hard to follow. Not enough interaction between the two main characters. And did I mention that it drags. Its a 2 hr. movie and I felt like I was in there for 8 hrs. what a chore.

Looper--an original future with some old fashioned values

It all starts with a solid story and Rian Johnson's Looper has a tight plot for sure. Joseph-Gordon Levitt is well cast as a young Bruce Willis. If Looper was just a sci-fi movie, then it would rate 2.5-3 stars for a unique view of the world in 2044. However, with the introduction of Emily Blunt as the mother of a scarily tele-kinetic little boy who could change the world someday, for better or for worse, Looper becomes a powerful movie that still speaks about values in a society highly needing them. A great movie has a strong plot, cinematography, acting, special effects, action...Looper is all this and more. After nearly two hours, when the movie ended, not a person in this packed house moved for at least a minute, as they reflected on the message at the end.

Bad movie involving time travel

This would be the second movie I saw this year that involves time travel, the other being MIB3. You see, MIB3 was well thought and written. Looper on the other hand is bizarre. I'm not saying the writers for time travel movies must stick with the temporal directive of some sort. But if it involves bring alternate reality, then the story had better make some sense.

For one, it's hard to imagine anyone would be ok in killing the future self. But why even go there if the looper agents can avoid that situation in the first place if the boss would simply send someone else to do the job. Second the suicde is the least likely choice under the circumstance to change the future. One had to be pretty damn sure to pull the trigger under split second. That's just not possible.

And if you have to sum up the entire story in few sentences, you will arrive at the conclusion that this story is quite dumb.

This is a good time travel movie for beginner and if you have seen many you will enjoy it too.

This is a good time travel movie for beginner and if you have seen many you will enjoy it too. The problem is once you figure out the hook, then you can go. I admit it took me most of the movie to get it but some scenes dragged out for me waiting to get there
