Looper - Interesting & Twisted Timetravel Story

I thoroughly enjoyed Looper. Although it is a sci-fi/action movie set in 2042, the technological advances and societal nuances were plausible and entertaining. The audience was not required to constantly suspend its disbelief like other timetravel or futuristic plots.
My excitement for the Gordon-Levitt and Willis casting began when I first saw the Looper trailer during the Avengers and continued all throughout the film! They make a terrific co-starring duo; Gordon-Levitt is brilliant in his adaptation of Willis' voice, cadence, and demeanor. The digital enhancement to his face was eerily on point, but I think Gordon-Levitt's performance is what makes the film. I was very happy with the entire cast - even the child featured in nearly half of the film was great! The visual effects and cinematography are beautiful and employ classic film techniques with the lighting. The action and violent scenes are tastefully done. My one criticism is that there are 2 plotholes. Nonetheless, SEE IT!

I was a little disappointed. Great plot and storyline but for me didn't quite live up to the hype. It delivered in the end but it took its sweet time getting there. I give it a B

Replace the L in "Looper" with a P.

The phrase "don't judge a book by its cover" might be overused yet, it is always true. Such is the case with Looper, a movie that promises to be the "best action movie of 2012". But ends up being one of the worst movies to come out this year. While the premise may be original, that does not get around the fact that the writing is dry and mediocre. Proving that it can be challenging to keep track of "key" plot points at times. As for the acting, Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt felt like the perfect pair to portray the dynamic character of Joe. Not only do Gordon-Levitt and Willis look alike, their mannerisms are similar and so is their fighting style. Overall, Looper is a mess of a film that does not deliver much and leaves the viewer hanging and wondering the true moral of the story in the end.

Awesome!!! Awesome!!! Awesome!!!

One of the best movies of the year... Hands Down!
When I saw the trailer, I felt like Time Travel + Bruce Willis = Usual Stuff.... NOT!!!!
The movie is AMAZING. and definitely worth taking the time out to go to a movie theater and watching it. My wife doesn't care for SciFi stuff and even SHE LOVED IT!!!
So YES WORTH EVERY PENNY :)

Excellent!

Really EXCELLENT movie. Makes your head hurt trying to sort out time travel! Well worth the time and money! I really would like to see it again, which would help to explain a few things. Very enjoyable. My husband and I had a great discussion/argument on the way home. GO SEE IT!

Great Story, but slow at times.

The story is great and JGL did an amazing job. I was convinced he was a younger Bruce Willis. Unfortunately, the story dragged on at times, making it a bit boring to watch. I think people should go see it, but be prepared that this isn't an action movie.

Excellent Movie though...

there were issues with the makeup being pretty shoddy at times. My husband claims that the time paradox was not fixed by the ending but overall great action flick with excellent acting and characters you want to root for.

Fast moving and entertaining

This is a fast moving and entertaining movie but it is also one where a LOT happens so you might want to see it twice to fully absorb it. Great cast and complex story.

Not about the movie

To some of these reviewers like Rayam.

I would like to see some reviews that are less mechanical. To me, it sounds like you are reviewing this movie like you are going to be graded on it by your film teacher. Making statements like "it fulfilled the basic requirements for a film." and "it contained a plot and tension" makes me want to smack someone. Please consider reviewing movies in the future a little more like you are humans instead of textbooks.

I still want to see this by the way.

Not your typical Willis flick.

I'm not a huge Bruce Wilis fan at all. It seems like every film I've seen him in has been incredibly hokey. Looper was an exception. While there were some cheesy, almost unnecessary additions (less than 10% of the population have developed a genetic mutation which they refer to as TK--Telekenesis), overall I felt like it was a very tastefully crafted movie. The cast is top notch as far as acting goes. Even the little guy held his own among tough competition. There are small parts throughout the movie where you get an introspective and touching glimpse of the characters and their struggles. Looper is laced with twist after twist (as you should expect), especially toward the end. Suspenseful, sometimes touching, mind-bending, no sappy hollywood love story (don't confuse lust for love), overall great cast. For what it's worth, IMO, this movie rules. I would not have gone to see this had I not just recieved a Fandango gift card as a gift from my sister-in-law. Highly recommended.

Great take on time travel stuff...

This movie was a really good take on time travel plot and not to spoil anything...it was interesting all the way through and had some great elements to that. Bleak in parts but good solid movie. I highly recommend this. Very violent and not for the squeamish.

Go see it before you get spoiled

I thoroughly enjoyed Looper. I am a fan of time travel, sci-fi, and action movies, so I had no reason to pass this one up. The marketing campaign, thankfully, has chosen to give you no more information than you get in the first 10-15 minutes of the movie, which is a relief. It is amazing. Jarring, beautiful, and one that'll keep you thinking long after the credits roll. It uses time travel in a way that most time travel movies do not. Things are fluid, and time can be altered, just beware what you change.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt does a SUPERB job embodying a young Bruce Willis. His face prosthetics will only seem distracting for a second, but you will soon become engrossed with the world of the film. It worked for me, especially after seeing both old and young Joe side by side. The similarities to Bruce Willis are amazing, and Gordon Levitt has Willis's facial peculiarities down pat. It's great to watch.

Good Movie, Hanging Ending

I enjoyed the movie and even the story line, unfortunately Looper had some missing "loops" in the story line that did not connect. Will wait for DVD to see if I can figure it out a second time.

Half the story

Either they are saving half the story for the sequel, or the writers on this storyline missed some interesting twists that would have made this movie actually interesting.
