Looper is Unexpectedly Awesome!

Defenitely have not been a super fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the past but I have to admit, this guy has talent! With Batman and now Looper he has a hot streak going that's starting to win me over. From a man's perspective this film has everything a guy could want in a movie. Let's see: Rogue assassins, Time travel, telekinesis, summary executions, future vehicles, etc. Need I say more! The premise of the movie set's the stage. Time Travel has been invented but outlawed in the future. The only people who have access to it are Mobster's, so instead of getting rid of their enemies Al Capone style like the old days, they send them back in time. However there time in the past doesn't last long at all. As soon as they arrive a Looper is waiting for them to finish them off. And let's just say they don't waste any time. This film kept me engaged all the way through. And the surprise ending after reflecting on it, to me was the only solution all along. Awesome film!

Bad movie involving time travel

This would be the second movie I saw this year that involves time travel, the other being MIB3. You see, MIB3 was well thought and written. Looper on the other hand is bizarre. I'm not saying the writers for time travel movies must stick with the temporal directive of some sort. But if it involves bring alternate reality, then the story had better make some sense.

For one, it's hard to imagine anyone would be ok in killing the future self. But why even go there if the looper agents can avoid that situation in the first place if the boss would simply send someone else to do the job. Second the suicde is the least likely choice under the circumstance to change the future. One had to be pretty damn sure to pull the trigger under split second. That's just not possible.

And if you have to sum up the entire story in few sentences, you will arrive at the conclusion that this story is quite dumb.

Absolutely Must-See

Absolutely amazing. One of the best sci-fi movies in years. Comparable to Blade Runner in its level of world-building, tension, suspense and the moral and ethical questions it poses for the viewer. Could not recommend it highly enough.

Confusing movie!

The visual effects were kind of neat but overall the movie was confusing and quite a bit slow. I also thought the character development was lacking. I would wait to see this on DVD or Blu-ray.

So so....interesting plot and nice acting (Bruce Willis still can excite), but none of the characters are really worth caring about. The deus ex machina ending/climax was a bit much and not very engaging. My recommendation -- wait for it on DvD/OnDemand.

Intense hard-hitting Sci-Fi Thriller adds some freshness to tired tropes

I should first mention this movie deserves its R rating. With plenty of graphic gore and violence and worse scene hinted at off camera it is not a film I would bring young children to.
That being said it scores well in my book: This movie certainly delivers in the action-thriller department and keeps an engaging, if occasionally muddled story-line. There are some great performances by Gordon-Levitt (whose acting career is swiftly climbing to meteoric heights) Willis (great to see him back as a total bad-ass,) Blunt and Pierce Gagnon as Cid.
Looper has been likened to Inception - not in plot, but in great acting by J G-L and a metaphysical aspect that is thought-provoking.
This is a fresh take on the SciFi time-travel trope, always a tricky one to pull off right. The movie offers enough twists and surprises to keep you guessing. Its a wild ride that doesn't pull its punches, so hang on.

Looper was a good entertaining movie. I especially liked that time travelers can effect the future in this one, but must be rersponsible and accountable for their actions. Nicely different.

If you like The Terminator, this will be up your alley

Looper was a good movie but I have some things going on in my life where it was a bit too dark for the mood that I've been in lately. If you are a bigger fan of Quantum Leap and using time travel to go back and fix things that went wrong or to make the world a better place, this movie may not be for you. If you are a fan of The Terminator where you go back in time to destroy things and kill people, then this is the kind of movie that you will enjoy.

Bruce Willis is great in his role and Joseph Gordon-Levitt does an outstanding job mimicking a younger Bruce Willis. There is some intrigue and doubt as to how it will end that makes the movie enjoyable since you don't know exactly what is going to happen.

If action/thriller is your thing, definitely give the movie a viewing. It might not be the greatest movie but you will be entertained for a couple of hours.

LOOPER

LOOPER was a very action packed movie. The acting was good especially the little boy.
It reminded me of Terminater in a way. It definitely a movie for adults because it is very violent

Good for a lazy day

The movie tries to be cerebral but there were a few gaps preventing the viewer from closing the "loop". The cast is decent but it had hints tof he original version of Total Recall - dark futuristic society filled with drugs and prostitutes. Good pick at Redbox or Netflix when it becomes available - not worth paying full theatre price for it.

Best sci-fi of the year

really strong (and not un-necessarily confusing, like a lot of time travel films) story, and superb acting. this is definitely one of my favorite movies of the year, and one of the best "classic feeling" sci-fi films in a long time, in my opinion.

A Big Thumbs Up!

Loved this movie! It actually makes a person think and pay attention. It was filled with action and of course, violence. The violence has been advertised, so don't go see this movie then cry about how gory and violent it is. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has the Bruce Willis body movements and facial expressions down perfectly. Oh and the little boy (Cid), he is headed for the big time. He actually gave me the creeps and brought out my maternal instinct to protect him all at the same time. Loved this movie and highly recommend it!

The plot...it actually had one

The storyline is pretty decent for a Hollywood movie these days. The action scenes between bruce willis and "his younger self" are also great. Now a days I ask myself...is this movie worth the $12 to see. This wasn't a let down, i originally wanted to see taken 2 but my GF and her friends wanted to see #looper instead. I wasn't really disappointed and the ending was good I thought.

If you like Sci-FI,Action,Thriller,Suspense all wrapped up like a burrito then go see this movie.
