    Terrible movie

This movie was slow and boring. I was so looking forward to seeing Meryl Streep--she is such a good actress. It certainly wasn't worth the $9.75 plus popcorn, to see this failure of a movie.

    Wow, could I relate!

First of all, Meryl Streep is an absolutely fabulous actress! She was so perfect for this role. I thought I was watching my Grandparents, my parents, and yes, maybe even me and my husband. What I'm saying is that any "happily married" couple who are over 40, been married for many years, get along well and truly love each other, will probably see themselves in this story and maybe even have something to think about when the movie is over. Go see it for laughs, tears, and maybe even a few tips to put the "spark" back in your "happy marriage." I would not really call this a "chick flick" It's more of a date night movie.

    Fun and touching

Leads are as wonderful as you can imagine. Streep never ceases to amaze. She can reach you heart and funny bone in the same instant with a tiny curl of a smile or gleam in her eye.

Excellent movie especially for folks in a relationship. For those in a long term relationship that has gone stale or those just beginning one. Reminds one of the need keep intimacy and sharing alive.
Very realistic! And then of course two wonderful actors that could deliver the emotions and body language make real on screen.

    For Mature Audiences.

This is NOT a kids/teen movie. It deals with some real private issues in a marriage relationship and could be considered offensive to many. It is verbally graphic. But then again not much is not "Out there" anymore so fewer people find things offensive. If you have a troubled marriage that involves the lack of intimacy and communication, this movie may hit close to home. Though it is supposed to be funny, in some instances, it may not be funny at all, as you see this couple struggle, and sometimes fail, to break down their comfort zones to save their marriage. This movie is food for thought about where you are and want to be in your marriage 20 years from now. It can be good kick in the pants to keep love alive and that there is hope if two people are willing to work at it.

    Hope Springs

It was cute but I thought it was going to be funny. It has some moments of humor, and plenty of moments of drama. Naturally, ALL of the acting was outstanding. If I missed this movie it would have been no loss. If there is nothing better playing you could enjoy it. Everyone told me that I must see it, except for my sister. Apparently she and I have similar taste.
Meryl Streep is a wife who keeps quite while she dutifully serves her husband dinner. Tommy Lee Jones barely knows she is there. Both of them could be replaced by robots. You never really see what motivates Meryl Streep to want to change all of that. A little insight into how she realizes that her marriage is empty and devoid of any type of intimacy would have been interesting.
Steve Carell gave a great performance as the marriage counselor. However, I never really saw why anyone would give him any credit for helping them except for his patience and directness.

Since I had to drag my husband to see this movie, I kept hoping it would get better. I thought it would be funnier and really that just never happened, a little disappointing with two such great actors. Guess I just expected a little more!

    Hope does spring

The movie is charming and delightful. Great for all ages. Meryl Streep is, as usual, amazing, and Tommy Lee Jones plays his part with such wonderful aplomb. The photography is excellent - makes you feel like you're there with them.

    Any HOPE for the hopeless???

    by jdude

The perfect cautionary tale for all you wives out there who are withholding sex from your husbands because, in your opinion, there isn't enough "intimacy" in your marriage. Well, HELLO??? How's THAT workin' out for ya, sweetheart???

Went to see it with three lady friends....laughed the entire time. Loved it. Would see it again. Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones and Steve Carell were ALL Fantastic.
Even thought the waitress was funny. I would be a little apprehensive about taking anyone under the age of 17 though. Only because I think I would be uncomfortable during some parts of the movie even though a lot was to the imagination. Over all, it was a fun movie and well done.

    A great film!

I went to this movie with my 85 year old mother and we both enjoyed it very much. Great cast, well written and both a very honest look at a long marriage that has derailed and a very funny film that many adults will relate to easily.
I am ready to see it again already?,

    Sweet Movie

Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones give great performances in this movie. For me, it hit all of the emotions, one minute you are laughing, then the next a tear of sadness, to compassion. Marriages that have endured over 30 years all go through the bumps and humps that this movie portrays. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and recommend it to everyone, especially those who have been in a long term relationship. It sparked some great conversation afterward, with my wife of 32 years, and we discussed how we could see various aspects and behaviours of the characters in our own lives. A touching movie, with a good ending.

This movie of course has great actors, but really its not about saying a whole lot. There were a few funny moments, but mainly it just dragged on. Sometimes too much reality is not a good things.

    Not For The Recently Divorced

This uplifting film is a testament to saving marriages. There is much to learn and enjoy here. The characters are universal and accessible. Good for couples of any age. Not recommended for anyone hopeful of saving a problem relationship. Better for couples who have weathered the storm already.
