Has Die Hard jumped the shark?
by
I'll begin by saying that this is still an entertaining and fun movie, worthy of the $10 you'll pay to see it at the theater. However, I'll follow that by saying that it is hardly a stand-alone film and, unfortunately, the first that isn't in my opinion of the Die Hard series. If I hadn't seen the first four films I probably would not care one way or the other about this father and son relationship as there is barely enough time to squeeze any character development into "A Good Day to Die Hard." The action is awesome, as expected, but all too often I was mocking various scenes or comments in my head. Bruce Willis probably mutters "Jesus" over 25 times throughout the movie and there's one particular scene (spoiler: when Willis drives through a bridge, lands on an 18-wheeler and proceeds to drive on top of cars in traffic) when I had the literal thought, "Has Die Hard jumped the shark?" Again, not all bad and I actually recommend seeing it. I just wish it wasn't called Die Hard.
