If you've every loved a pet, this movie is a Must Go!

Frankenweenie is much better than the reviews. This movie is silly, creepy fun. I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. If you like Tim Burton movies, it's a must see. The audience reactions were great. There are sweet and sad aspects to the movie that are very unexpected. We were even talking about seeing again before Halloween!

    Creative

As always these black/white semi-dark but warm and fuzzy movies are not a let down. I really enjoyed the movie. The imaginations required to create this script were amazing. Great flick!!!

    Tim Burton Broke my heart!

I went to see this movie with high expectations and it definitely didn't dissapoint. I'm not going to ruin it for anyone but Tim Burton broke my heart with this one! I burst into tears not once, not twice, BUT THREE TIMES (and it was the UGLY CRY at that).
The cinematography and detail just completely blew my mind. I can't wait to see it in 3D!

    This one's for the kiddies

This is a very sweet movie with some cute references and a neat story about a boy and his dog. This movie is greatly made for the little ones, who will find it funny, charming, and awesome - judging from the laughter and oo's and ahh's heard from the kiddies in the theater. If you're older than 10, don't expect to be wowed. It's no Nightmare Before Christmas.. You'll most likely find it lacking. We would score it below ParaNorman on the enjoyment scale. But it is a very cute movie that the little ones will enjoy.

Frankenweenie was cute and a great matinee!

This movie was so cute, especially if you are a dog or animal lover. It was a great story and well executed and produced. It was the perfect rainy day movie to go see, no matter what your age!

This is Burton and he rocks!

When you're going to watch a movie from Tim Burton you know what you're getting into. Stop motion in b&w, a story with a lot of heart... What can I say, this is another gift from this wonderful artist. I love it!

    Tim Burton is a genius!!

I took my 10 year and 5 year old nieces to see Frankenweenie, hoping that they would fall in love with the magic that is Tim Burton. They LOVED it, as did I. They were laughing so hard, especially at Mr. Whiskers. The characters are strange, but this is Tim Burton and anything less would not be acceptable. Moments in the movie remind me Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice and of course the original Frankenstein. Tim Burton does not disappoint, he is a genius!!

    Cute, if you're 7.

Cute movie for kids. Take your kids. Skip it if you're over 15 and looking for any sort of "ooh ah" laughs, surprises, or anything that couldn't have been a 10 minute short instead of a 1.5hr movie. One of the few movies I have yawned through from start to finish.

Some things are better left dead.

    by

I remember in 1985, when Pee Wee dazzled us with Burton's quirkiness, it was different and fun. The years passed by 1992 (Batman Returns) it was clear Burton had one formula (make us feel sad for Pee Wee, Beetlejuice, Edward, Bruce) and you either loved it or just got tired of emo-goth-dark anti-hero and just wanted them gone. I was the latter, After a Nightmare Before Christmas, I stopped watching Burton movies until 2001's Planet of the Apes--it didn't empress, but I am fair, gave Burton another chance with Charlie and the 'why did give this guy another chance' Factory. Frankenweenie, has got to be the worse of the worse of Burton films I have seen. It lacks creatively, humor, story, fun...I guess this is another 9 years of putting Burton out of sight/out of mind.

    Frankenweenie

I saw this movie with my 5 year old daughter and it was wonderful. We both enjoyed it and I would def. recommend it to other moms. It would be especially great for kids who are interested in science. Just be sure to remind them afterward that lighting doesn't really bring animals back to life! We don't need any do-it-yourself science projects like the ones explored in this film:) Enjoy!

    Quintessential Tim Burton

I really had no desire to see this film, but it was SURPRISINGLY good. Burton is (of course) a master of claymation (stop motion animation), and his talents are still very much apparent. Frankenweenie is an imaginative mash-up of 'Edward Scissorhands', 'Nightmare Before Christmas' and 'Corpse Bride', with an oddly halcyon, 'The Sandlot' or 'Stand By Me' kind of feel to it.... It's a fairly sad story, but of course it's for the kiddies so it's super imaginative and somehow heart warming too. The characters are hilarious, mainly because you can liken them to someone in your life---even marginally so. And of course it makes you want to go out and get a pet dog...then try to rig up your garage to harness the power of a passing thunderstorm so you can keep it alive forever...

    I loved it!

    by

This movie was funny, scary and sad. And it was funny seeing kids that were movie monsters as kids! Sparky was adorable, and the competition for the science fair that got out of hand. I won't say the end. It is very moving is all I will say. Tim Burton has another hit!

    Interesting

We liked the movie, but I don't recommend bringing a toddler to watch with you. Our daughter lost interest every now and then. All in all it was good.

    Frankenweenie is delightful

I took my 8 year old son and his buddy to see Frankenweenie, and I thought it was great. The boys definitely liked it but it wasn't their all-time favorite. My son thought it would have been better in color, and I tried to tell him about director Tim Burton referencing old-fashioned horror movies like Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Godzilla, etc. I think as he gets older and sees some of the classic horror movies, he'll appreciate Frankenweenie more. But for kids raised on whiz-bang, constant-motion, rainbow-colored CGI films, this is visually understated.

This might be a bit scary for very young children, but for elementary school-age kids and up it's terrific. The voice work is definitely non-threatening and loving in the main family, to offset the grim idea of a boy resurrecting a dog corpse. But the supporting roles play as a who's who of great horror voices of the past, channeling Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre, etc. I'll definitely see again when it's on dvd!

Nick_Chao Finished Frankenweenie. It was alright. Fairly entertaining but it doesn't stand out to me personally as a Burton highlight.
