    Tim does it again!

    by

One of my kids (5 and 3) favorite movies is Nightmare Before Christmas, so we were really looking fwd to another Burton masterpiece. We were not disappointed. Fun with just about the right amount of darkness. As in most Tim Burton movies, the characters are fabulous! My 3 year old daughter actually cried at the end...not because she was scared, but sad that the movie was over!

    Frankenfunny!

    by

The old-style Tim Burton animation is back and it delivers yet again. Literally the only thing missing was music. As a huge fan of Nightmare and also enjoying Corpse Bride I guess I just expected more of a musical, but it's not. However, the story is extremely fun and very clever. Homage is paid to all the old classic horrors films through characters and scenes which adds a little bit to the enjoyment. The characters mesh well together and each one has their own humor. However, Weird Girl and her cat, Mr. Whiskers, are my personal favorite. Take the kids or leave them at home, you'll enjoy this film regardless!

    Awesome

    by

Just saw "Frankenweenie" it was so good!!! I love Tim Burton!! I have never seen anything of his that I don't love, "The Nightmare Before Christmas" "Corpse Bride" "Alice In Wonderland" "Coraline" just to name a few, they are all good!! This cartoon movie is in Black and White like "The Nightmare Before Christmas" its in the same story line as "Frankenstein" but with a dog. I love that this is a Disney movie. I didn't see it in 3D, because 3D makes me dizzy. I hate that all the Cartoon movies and some live action movies are going 3D. But anyway if you like Tim Burton then go see this movie!!!

    For kids and adults

    by ugubser

This movie is trying to get at the source of the science vs. sports argument in schools and as such is also a social critique on the question what do parents value more and what do kids value - but also where does society see these questions fit in. I found it refreshing how direct these questions were posed and how direct they were answered.

A lot of kids will not understand the subtle references to the horror movie genre from the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's but as adults it's a hilarious reminder of movie history.

All said, it's not really a kids movie but kids will enjoy it nonetheless.

    Frankenweenie

I really liked it. I am a really big Tim Burton fan, so my opinion may be biased, but I loved the B&W effect, the story, the characters, and the eerie ghoulishness. If you have seen Burton's early films of Victor and Frankenweenie (short version, non-animated) and can appreicate them, then you will enjoy this movie.

One thing to keep in mind for kids is that although the movie is not scary it does have a couple sad moments that could upset young children under 5-7 (approx.). I guess just use your judgement when it comes to taking kids to see this movie.

    Frankenweenie, an American Dream

Good hearted, but misunderstood nerd proves that good science takes heart. The national obssession with immortality is realized for a boys best friend. This movie kept me engaged throughout and is right up there with Rocky and Bullwinkle for intelligent social insight and irresistible whimsy! You do not need a kid to enjoy this movie.

    So cute!

I am a huge fan of Tim Burton and was pleasantly surprised that the entire movie done in black and white. This is a must see for all pet owners! It will most def tug at your heart strings and even make the dudes cry.

I was so happy to see Winona Ryder's name in the credits as Elsa!!!

Go see this movie! I feel it is appropriate for kids over the age of 7 or 8.

great movie to see on the big screen, can't say the D box did much for the movie not enough action to go with the seat movement.

    Frankenweenie was just ok...

    by olieps3

I was hoping for a lot more from Tim Burton, but it fell pretty flat. I took my two boys who are 7 and 9 and while they were fairly amused, I was pretty bored. There's not a whole lot to the plot that makes this a fun or memorable movie. It's ok, but lacks both comedy, character development and interesting story line. I'd wait to see it as a rental or at the dollar movies.

Fantastic classic-era Tim Burton fun, even by Disney

I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I winced...all with a goofy grin splattered across my face. 'Frankenweenie' is a refreshing blend of child and adult humour throughout the film. I so very much enjoyed the classic styling of the film...I've missed seeing Tim Burton films and this was a great one!

    FRANKENWENIE

I loved the movie. Tim Burdon is a genius! HOWEVER, HATE FANDANGO. THE MOVIE COST ME 50% more than I would have had to pay if I had gone on my own and it was very inconvenient to have to order it online. Movies are so outrageously expensive now anyway and FANDANGO just ads inult to injury.

My fave since Nightmare Before Christmas!

    by

My husband and I took our 2 kids to see this movie after our daughter said we HAD to go! I'm sure glad she made the suggestion!
It's done in the same sort of style as Nightmare Before Christmas, and Sparky actually kinda reminds me of Sally a little bit with their stitches everywhere. My husband and I both teared up at the end. (Yes... two 32 year old adults teared up at the end of a childs movie... it was sad!!)
Overall, it was a really good movie, that we would probably pay to see again. Definitely will be buying the DVD when it comes out!

    fun for all

This movie had enough for the kids and the adults. Some of the themes regarding death might be difficult for some young children, but it is perfect for late elementary and older. There were also enough references to keep the adults happy. I'm so glad to see Tim Burton doing original material again. The remakes were getting really tired. Of course, it being Tim Burton, the visuals were great

Classic 50's Horror Films rolled into kids film...Perfect

This was a very good movie with an allusion to every good and bad horror flicks of the 50's. Some of us will even notice the nods to 50 horror film greats, the most noticeable to Vincent Price. I especially like the allusion to the short film, Bambi meets Godzilla. Finally, the kids loved it, and that is what mattered. Even if you are not a Tim Burton fan, you will enjoy this movie. If you are, like me, then you can sit back and relax and enjoy the usual enjoyable Burton-kitsch location malaise of suburbs, classic anti-hero characters, and some gross-outs.
