    true to life suspense

Excellent rendition of the true to life happenings during the 1979-1980 Iran hostage situation. Ben Affleck directed it and did a superb job. I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire movie. It was period appropriate and very realistic.
It is one of the better written plot movies I've seen in a while. It wasn't a whole lot of big bangs and crazy action that riddle the movies now. This one had a concrete story line with some realistic action that will keep you on your seat. It's worth seeing.

    Argo

A little known hero is revealed in this suspenseful film. The authenticity of the characters and scenes is amazing. Ben Afflec does double duty as director and lead actor and nails both roles!

    Awesome

This was a great movie. Not. Much action at all, but it was still intense and they did a great job of keeping your attention.

    ARGO

This was a fantastic movie with great acting and directing all around. The attention to detail is remarkable. I think they even used the Warner Bros. logo from the late 70s and 80s for this period piece. This will certainly be nominated for Oscars....Go see it!

Argo will change your opinion about Ben Affleck

This movie was awesome. You get invested in the characters and the story (even though you know how its gonna end). The acting is great and the scenes in Tehran were chilling.

    Truth is Stranger Than Fiction

    by sabele

Turns out that the least believable part of the movie really did happen: a movie crew actually convinced the Iranians that they were there to make a film; really. In Iran. In those times. Under that regime. The movie was embellished in many ways, but it made for a thrilling ride, if one can suspend disbelief for a while and accept the many coincidences that actually did not happen. In fact, it is better not to know the real story before going and looking up the real events after, so as to not spoil the impact of the movie. It is also awesome to compare the real people with the actors; that make up job was fantastic.
The movie does keep you glued to your seat and the acting is great

Whether or not you remember the actual event, this movie portrays an event in American history that should be remembered. It was well acted, well directed. The entire theater knew the outcome but you could hear the collective catching of breath at the end when there was a question of whether the Swiss Air jet would get off the ground in time. That is great movie-making! Everybody should see this movie. We took our 15 year old (we prepped him for the foul language and violence which he says he's heard and seen on the news already so that wasn't too big an issue) and he now says he wants to learn more about why some countries don't like Americans and our way of life. If that's all we got out of it, it was worth the watching alone.

I thought Ben Affleck did a remarkable job keeping to the facts, and bringing humor, suspense, reality, terror and emotion into the film. Stellar casting too! Great job!

    Argo - Wonderful, Passionate, Suspenseful!

A must see for anyone who believes that truth is so much better than fiction - and who loves very solid casting. Arkin, Goodman, Affleck, etc - PERFECT together (just like "New Jersey & You," as per Governor Thomas Kean)

This is a MUST SEE movie. Well done with kudos to Ben Aflick who both directed and acted in this suspense filled drama about the 1979 US embassy hostage crisis in Iran. It is a winner. At the end of the move everyone in my theater was clapping with some on their feet. How often does that happen???

    Suspenseful

I liked the movie. I thought the acting was good, people were well cast and it was a great story. A real nail biter. What makes it even better is that it's true!

Must See ARGO - SUSPENSE & HISTORICAL

Affleck shows us a SUPERB movie filled with Suspense and should-know historical events. LOVED everything about this movie....Story (TRUE CIA De-classified !), Acting, Action, Scenery. The story grabbed my gut. Must see this movie to learn more about what happened during the Iran hostage-taking of US Embassy workers in 80s. If not for the history...go see this movie for the Action, suspense and talent. Bravo to Mr. Affleck!

Compelling depiction of bravery and wit

The attempt to stay true to history is apparent in Argo, and the movie also engages the audience from scene 1 through the end. It's definitely worth seeing in a theater. The actors exhibit emotions, insecurities, and youthful decision-making (sometimes good, sometimes bad). The movie, based on the Iran hostage crisis during Carter's term, highlights the genius of Tony Mendez who refuted other suggestions to get the hostages out and even defied orders to not go through with his plan. He knew it was right and was willing to take the gamble for the sake of those men and women. The incredible preparations are well shown in the movie to allow the viewer to feel a part of the happenings. The climax (while still knowing the ending) plays out in an intense manner evoking happiness and perhaps tears. Ben Affleck even has moments to poke fun at the Hollywood industry, including directors which is funny since he directed this film. Enjoy the movie.

    ARGO

A brilliant directorial turn for Ben Affleck. An edge of your seat thriller with a plot so convolutedly absurd it would be laughable...were it not based on actual historical fact. Alan Arkin is brilliant in a supporting role that adds comic relief to the incredibly taut suspense. There are many reasons this film did so well at the Golden Globes, with Best Drama and Best Director honors. A genuine must see picture!
