    Argo You Go Me Go

    by Misty60

Fast paced, edge of your seat movie. Ben Affleck does as magnificent job as Tony Mendez. Alan Arkin, John Goodman and the rest of the cast reminded us of that terrible time in Iran with total clarity.

    Argo Must See

    by

Fantastic as far as movie-making goes (kudos to Ben Affleck). Just wish they could have been truer to the real story. No need to dis New Zealand and Great Britain, who were more supportive of the Americans than depicted. And the ending was a bit much, cheapening the drama. John Goodman and Alan Arkin are the new 'it' couple. Goodmarkin? Arkinman? #ArGoEffYourself.

    Argo

Grabs your attention immediately with the replaying of original tv network news reports, and films of the Tehran rioting and demonstrations.
It reminded me of how long ABC News' Nightline has been on the air. Seeing Ted Koppel and his contemporaries - Tom Brokaw and Walter Cronkite was heart warming.
Cast was superb. Alan Arkin still has what it takes. John Goodman is NOT Roseann's husband anymore. He was as good in this as he was in "Trouble with the Curve".
There was humor, pathos, and anxious moments as the six embassy staffers began their escape journey.
Kudos to Ben Affleck and George Clooney for reminding us of how this Iran/Iraq situation all began and continues today.

    Uncomfortable history reminder

Lest media propaganda lull us into believing that Iran and Iranians are peaceful and democratically-minded, ARGO is a grim reminder of what happens when violent, ignorant, mindless Islamists decide to gather in the streets under the guise of "student protests". A superb film, had me on the edge of my seat even though I knew the ending. Good job, Affleck.

    Great Story

The fact that this is based on a true story only goes to enhance the experience. It was one of the first movies in a while that I was glued to. Whether you are interested in history or just a great action/drama type movie this is a good bet.

    Fantastic

I lived through tohse days, and always had questions about the story behind the story. If this is really true, it answered almost all my questions/

Amazing job of directing by Mr. Affleck, and a great editing job! A heartpounding drama that made me skip the popcorn!!

    Argo = exciting

    by Foxot

The film of this historic event is surprisingly gripping despite your knowing the outcome of the actual events before you see it. Good performances by everyone. Excellent attention to detail. Very moving.

    Not a wasted moment

    by dmaan

Ben Affleck is officially a giant of this movie generation. This sparse movie manages to tell a simple tale
in a suspensful and engrossing fashion. Great acting, great story great writing -- the ingredients of a great
movie! If the makers of "The Master" see Argo, they will understand why they failed so utterly!

    Full Price Value

This is an intense movie and includes facts that I was not aware of when the event was taking place. This is an eye opener, but I do think some of the situations were made a little more intense than what actually happened for Hollywood effect.

    ARGO A MUST SEE

A shame that all of the work that Carter did and what he went thru was still classified when he was up for re-election - and shows the dedication of many government employees that for our security and safety have put their lives on the line. but it is a pretty good story of this s - ARGO HAD GOOD EDITING AND BRAVO TO BEN making little points clear to the public - which is so important in a good movie, especially in one of this caliber. Acting A -1 - John Goodman great as usual - I was never a fan of Ben's but his talents sure came thru on this one - he deserves a oscar for directing - - -Liked his "thanks to" - and noted his co-producer -
remember him in his first movie with Matt Damon that they wrote??

    Argo is only So So

Although the premise is accurate, the movie does not match the facts, taking far too much liberty with events just for the sake of creative tension for the audience. Also, it misses the many side stories in order to focus only on one character, Tony Menedez. Sorry, but not worth a recommendation to friends.

    This Film ROCKS

    by hghere

Once I got past feeling like I needed a shower after reading "Ben Affleck & George Clooney" in the opening credits, I never looked back! ARGO is EXTREMELY well-written and provides some great laughs while depicting a very dark time in our nation's history. It is obvious that great care and attention went into the details. As a result, the viewer is rewarded with a thrilling story and a history lesson.

    Good afternoon viewing

The story it self was good, however, the story line seems to follow the usual theme...peril, a hero steps up to help against tremendous odds from his "bosses", he goes against them and does in fact become a hero. There was entirely too much cussing, smoking and drinking in this film. I got a headache from watching 4-5 people in each scene smoking and downing large amount of alcohol. There were funny scenes scattered throughout the movie which to me, saved it from being a disaster. I was really expecting more from Ben Affleck since he was the star and had much to do with production.

    Argo - Thumbs Up!

Excellent movie. The cast and Mr. Affleck were amazing. It is based on real facts. At the time, I was not aware of the Argo operation. Now I want to read and catch up on those Carter years. This movie really inspired me on so many levels. It is Oscar worthy. The Manhattan audience clapped at the end. Bravo!

    Argo

    by mimiphm

A good movie but hardly worth the raves I've been hearing. Affleck did a fine directing job - of everyone else. He had one expression himself throughout, except for a slight attempt at a smile at the very end. It made scenes that focused on him rather boring.
The rest of the film was more interesting. The dialog involving the producer and make-up artist in Hollywood was hilarious. The tension during the market scene was well done, as were the beginning sequences and others in the Canadian embassy. The airport scenes were a bit trite but still held my attention.
