Hard to watch but excellent movie!

    by Dadou

Even though I knew the outcome from the beginning, I found the movie created real tension in me and was almost hard to watch. A really excellent movie, definitely worth the effort to find a theater which is still showing it.

    Go see Argo

I'll pay to see it again on big screen. It's kinna unbelievable, my boyfriend thinks that they're pulling our legs in that one, but I do remember when the story broke out, we were told that the movie crew were Canadian. Congrats to Ben Affleck, he did a great job.

    Argo

Four star - my guess for an Oscar sweep! Exciting, tense, nail biting suspense with terrific cast, great acting and directing and an added dose of humor.

    Thriller based on true story...

This is based on a true story with creative license for a thriller movie. Great acting in leading and supporting roles. I would take teenagers but not younger to this one.

    Gotta See! Suspense with Humor

Argo was a good movie. Ben Affleck has really come into his own. He does a great job in this movie. And I loved Alan Arkin. He is a fabulous. Based on a true story, Argo does a great job of telling the basics of the story while keeping the audience engaged in suspense until the end.

    A Gripping True Story

It had every reason to fail, but the scheme to rescue these American's (and the movie) succeeded in spades. It's a great tribute to Canadian-American friendship, CIA smarts, Hollywood savvy, and living in the free world.

    Ben in Fine Form!

As an actor, it seems Hollywood has always been lukewarm to Ben Affleck. But there is no doubt as a director, he can hold his own with the best of them. Mr. Affleck has created an amazing film. Great cast, a "wow" of a plot, and the building of suspense that is, in an over-used phrase, has you sitting on the edge of your seat. If the Academy Awards doesn't recognize this film come awards season, it will be a sad commentary on the industry. ARGO is a must see film!

This movie keeps you engaged from the very start. It is quite tense at times with just the right amount of humor at the right time.

Good Movie but I think LIncoln is better

Went to see ARGO because it won best picture at the Oscars. Acting by the 6 embassy staff members who escaped was not great. A lot of their facial expression seemed contrived and their fear dishonest. Story was good but somewhat overly embellished to add too much drama.

Personally, I think Lincoln has much better acting from all the characters and was much more compelling. Lincoln should have got best picture in my mind.

Maybe you have to have action, guns and violence to win best picture these days. Maybe fantastic acting and set design is not enough.

Definitely a GO but not a must go.

    Excellent Thriller

    by

Great movie. Well done Mr. Affleck! This is, perhaps, Ben's best performance. Selection of supporting characters was excellent. Movie was intriguing and kept you on the edge of your seat. Definitely one to see.

Good movie - suspense.. w/some comic relief

Was a good movie. Great acting all around. The movie probably would have meant a lot more to me if I was an adult in the late 70's/early 80's.. but it still hit close to home.

    Excellent movie!

After hearing so many good things about this movie, my expectations were very high. Whereas most movies fail to match those expectations, Argo managed to exceed them. Incredibly well written and filmed, the movie flowed easily while keeping you at the edge of your seat. The fact that the events were based on a true story made the story that much engaging.

    Affleck's Excellent Adventure

Writer/actor/producer/director Ben Affleck has created a first-rate political espionage thriller with Argo. Even though we know how it ends, since it's based on a true story, the artistic choices Affleck has made to get us there will have you on the edge of your seat right through the credits. (Don't miss them, by the way.) I never once thought about anything else until the lights came up.

Everything meshes beautifully here: script, editing, production design, cinematography, soundtrack (vintage 70's hits), editing and acting. (Some look-alike characters do a great job along with old pros like Affleck, John Goodman, Alan Arkin and Victor Garber.) All work together seamlessly to recreate an intense and difficult time in American-Iranian relations that still resonates in 2012. That political activist George Clooney is one of the film's producers should tell you a lot about its credibility.

In summary: Argo has Oscar written all over it. See it on the big screen NOW.
