    Applause at closing credits!

How many movies have you attended lately that the theater audience applauded for at the end and stayed through the closing credits.

No fan of Jimmy Carter but be sure to stay for his personal historic footnote at the end.

The knot in my stomach never left

After the opening sequence, the theater I was in fell into the kind of empty silence you feel at funerals. You almost didn't want to see the train wreck of American history you knew you were about to witness...

If you are old enough to remember the hostage taking, the memories this movie conjures in the opening sequences are nearly visceral, and it never lets up. Argo fills in a thousand memory gaps and another hundred backstories you never knew about. And in places the dialogue hysterical.

But make no mistake, Argo takes no prisoners--it will replay in your head repeatedly. Well worth the money, time, and emotional energy.

Should be nominated for Best Editing. Some great visual story telling. Affleck really kept it moving.

    Argo

Really a terrific movie. Even tho we know how it ends, the suspense is unbelievable! A real adult movie -- no gratuitous sex or violence....actually no sex at all, and only necessary violence. A no-effort, thoroughly enjoyable history lesson, and uncannily timely.

    HIstory/sacrifice put on film beautifully

One of the better movies I've seen in a long time. Based on a true story of sacrifice and courage by a covert operative...this kind of story is not heard by the man on the street very often.

Great moment in american history and international cooperation...on the part of the Canadians.

    Must see...especially, the iPhone generation.

    Argo

Considering Clooney's involvement, I was worried the movie would have a liberal message. There was a rehabilitation of Jimmy Carter as the credits were rolling, but that was it. A splendid period piece. Suspenseful, well-acted and a believable script. Ben Affleck was actually good in the lead role, but I enjoyed the supporting cast's work even more.

    Learned a lot

I was pretty young during the Iran Hostage Crisis, and never even knew about these six Americans. Great story, great script, and had you on the edge of you seat the whole film. Be sure to watch all the credits at the end so you can see what a great job they did making the actors look exactly like the real people involved - from the hostages to the LA film team.

    Argo

It's set during the Iranian hostage crisis of the late1970s. Seems that when the mob broke into the embassy, six workers slipped out and escapted to the home of the Canadian ambassador. Ben Affleck plays a CIA agent who specializes in getting people out of the country in these situations. The only plot he can come up with is that they're scouting a site for a really schlocky sci-fi film. His boss describes it as "the best bad idea we've got." I assumed they'd all get away -- otherwise, they wouldn't have made a movie about it. But it's still heart-pounding.

    Worth it

Movie is good, and it happens to be true. Even though I knew the end results I still sat there with my fingers crossed hoping the 6 people woutl get out.

    ARGO

This is a very good movie. It is sad that some reviewers inject their own political agenda in their reviews. This movie was NOT about U S politics. It was about the rescue of 6 people caught up in an international tragedy and about the outstanding work of the Canadian government employees with the cooperation of our own CIA who risked their lives to get our people out. I have never been a fan of Ben Affleck - until now. His acting and directorial ability improves immensely with each endeavor. Put your politics aside and go see this movie. I believe you will enjoy it.

    ARGO

Although I lived through the Iran crisis and remember vividly the release of the hostages on January 20, 1981, I had no idea of what happened with the six Americans who were protected by the Canadian ambassador. This film is genius in portraying the true events. Ben Affleck and George Clooney have created an outstanding documentary of a previously unknown event in American history.

    Argo

Even knowing the real life outcome of this story, the on screen portrayal was as riveting, suspenseful and overwhelmingly satisfying as any fictional story could possibly have been. It was like watching the actual events in the same real time sequence, and anxiety, that I vividly remember when they actually occurred.

    See this movie!

    We heart Canada

Great action, very tense and an amazing story, made so much more incredible by being based on true events that occurred in the late 1970s and early 1980s. While some viewers will remember these events clearly, many, me included, did not and I'm so grateful to know more about this important part of our history. The story gives viewers a much broader understanding of why we're in such a mess in the the Middle East, and how little we really can know about the people working behind the scenes. Argo is funny, exciting, intellectually satisfying and the kind of story you believe because, as we so often say these days, "you can't make this stuff up.'' Because of language and violence, it's not appropriate for young children.

    Don't miss this one!

This movie is great for just about any type of movie you are looking for. It is touching, funny, motivating, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I literally was biting my nails during it. What is exceptionally great about this movie is that it tells such a great story from our history and they use clips of real life news reports from 1979/1980. I was in a packed full theater and, with the exception of a handful of people, everyone sat not making a move as the credits started rolling and they showed pictures from the actual events. President Carter then says words about this event and it is extremely moving. This is one film that you do not want to miss and one that is probably best seen in a theater and not waiting for the DVD.
