    Great untold true story

    by

Gives explanation as to why it was untold for so long. Affleck is great as is Goodman and Arkin. Be prepared for edge of your seat tenseness even though you think you know how things turn out, it's an anxiety filled trip and captures what the 6 had to be feeling back in 1981 in Iran.

    AWESOME movie

I went in knowing little about the movie other then it was getting critic praise... and that I have loved Ben Affleck's other movies... and I just loved this movie. A smart yet thrilling movie... showing the challenges government faces... showing feds in a positive light. We acted. Well written.
    Awesome job Ben Affleck.
    Highly recommend

    Argo

At last, the U.S. is the good guy. Unfortunately the Canadians do not get full credit for their leading part in freeing the U.S. citizens. Good cast and fine writing. Some conflict with logic but since this is a movie and not a documentary sit back and enjoy it.

    ARGO...a MUST Go see

    by kane2

True history of this century. Memorable, honest, real. Excellent casting. I was on the edge of my seat through entire movie. I knew the outcome, but didn't know the details. Felt the emotions of the individuals involved in this ordeal. ARGO is a MUST GO see.

    Argo

Suspenseful, good acting, used a little of poetic license with the ending compared with the way it really ended back in the day.

Glad Ben Afleck and George Clooney were able to get this movie made.

    Ben redeems himself well!

    by

I enjoyed this movie immensely for 2 reasons. First, I learned something I didn't already know about our role in the Iranian hostage crisis. Unfortunately, what I learned makes me very ashamed at our role in hiring a violent dictator for a country not belonging to us, all for the sake of cheaper oil. Still, it is good to see story we didn't see earlier. Also, Ben Affleck impressed me with his ability to bring to us a story we need to know, in an entertaining way. I would much more likely pay to see movies like this where I can actually go away with more knowledge. The film aptly conveyed the tension and emotion of the Iranian people. I couldn't understand why they were so angry until the movie unfolded. After the movie, I was propelled to google American history. The market scene will leave you breathless. I applaud Ben's acting, directing, and foresight. Do it again Ben!

    edge of your seat!

This is an excellent portrayal of the ugly situation at the time. Even though one knows the result, the actors and the screenplay keep you on the edge of your seat! Outstanding, can't miss- I would think especially for people who are not familiar with the events and the time.

    Argo

This is one of the best movies that I have seen in a long time. Even though I knew how it had to end, I was on the edge of my seat the second half of the movie with my heart in my throat. My only complaint is that, although he did a great job, Ben Affleck does not look like a Tony Mendez.

    Sounds of Silence

Two hours went by pretty fast and the audience was so quiet! Interesting story line and a happy ending always help the likeability of a film. Still have doubts about Ben Affleck as an actor --

    Argo

This movie was exciting and full of heart-throbbing action. It is one of the few movies that I will definitely go see a second (and maybe third) time.

    Argo: Ar, go .....

    by

Went to see "Argo" today. Excellent film.

Kudos to the storytellers (produced by Ben Afflect and George Clooney) and the real persons of whom the story is about.

And, to make matters almost perfect, not one person in the theater blocked my view, used their phone or talked while the movie was showing. How was this possible?

I was the only person seeing the movie!
Had the whole movie to myself.

    Where?
At the City Cinemas Village East Cinema
181-189 Second Avenue, New York, NY, where I took an afternoon off and saw this moving movie.

Go see it while it is still in theaters, and if you miss it on the big screen get a DVD of the film. You will benefit from the story, for sure.

Good movie but not the best

This is a great, true story. It is well acted and the stars are very special. We enjoyed the action and the plot, but this is not as good a movie as Lincoln.

    Great suspenseful movie

    by lmy2321

Best movie I have seen in years. Great to see refreshing new ideas for movies that keep everyone in the theater quiet and not moving from their seats.

    Smart & Well Directed!

Excellent movie! Can't believe how suspenseful it was even knowing the ending so to speak. The audience applauded...that oughta tell ya something. Stay through the credits for more actual history/photos, etc. If you're not familiar with this incident, the beginning of the movie lays it out. Very thought provoking....and relevant still (unfortunately) to current Mid-Eastern politics. Have heard some criticism that Affleck's character was "flat" but I thought his portrayal of a man facing incredible risk for the six lives (and his own)to be realistic. In that scenario....you would be pretty preoccupied with both the task and the pressures of the situation. This is a very intense and sometimes uncomfortable movie if you are sensitive to the anger towards the US from other nations who have suffered as a result of our foreign policy. Having said that - this is not a movie to lecture or present "sides" as it were. Made me appreciate our citizens who work in those troubled countries

    Argo - Wonderful, Passionate, Suspenseful!

A must see for anyone who believes that truth is so much better than fiction - and who loves very solid casting. Arkin, Goodman, Affleck, etc - PERFECT together (just like "New Jersey & You," as per Governor Thomas Kean)
