    My condolences to the actors

    by Me2Ugly

You should only view this film as a last resort. I would rank this as a "Lets go to Prison" film. I should have left when I saw WF was one of the producers. Oh Well, could have, would have, should have. Save your money, wait for RB.

    Enjoyable Far-Fetched Action Adventure

    by eveodes

Hansel and Gretel didn't try too hard to be something it wasn't. A lot of fighting, action and gore with a not-too-surprising plot. The anachronistic weapons bothered my husband (a knowledgeable gun guy) but to me, it just fit the feel of the movie. Not for younger kids who will be terrified by the amazing CGI and make-up effects. The witches are visually terrifying and stunning.

    Cliche but still fun.

There were a few funny moments. The movie looked beautiful and the acting was good. There were a few key plot moments that I knew before they unfolded but it was still good.

    A very fun movie!

    by

I went to this expecting little and I was surprised at how entertained I was. The time flew by and my girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved that Gretel was such a strong female role and the two of them worked very well together.

    Bloody good

    by Golmaal

Has everything you want in a horror film! Fast pace, atmospheric, interesting characters plus the added bonus of a troll, who was pretty realistic. Nice end credit song as well.

Its an Action (semi-comedy) movie, not a Acadamy Award nom.

Okay, if you like movies such as the Resident Evil franchise and the Expendables (obviously I'm talking to mostly the men) then is is a good action movie. There aren't amazing fight scenes like in the Expendables (the first one, not the second one--though the knife fight with Stratham was okay). but the fights are clever and bloody.

Its a good movie to watch if you don;t want to think.

    Fairy Tale for Big Kids...

    by

I enjoyed it a lot. You have to leave old "Aunt Martha" outside and let you inner kid enjoy it. Lots of Witch-Fu action scenes. Beautiful special effects and great characters. I'd love to see a sequel. I'll go back to see it in 3D if I get a chance. I'm just not paying $16+. They got to bring down those ticket prices. Very sparce attendence in the whole theater. Cut the ticket-prices and fill the theaters. But go see this one if you like fantasy adventures.

    The critics are wrong again....

I don't understand why some movies get such low ratings from critics. Its almost as if its not a "life-affirming" movie or if its not the new types of movies that make you wonder what the hell the movie was even about-the critics don't like it.

This movie isn't an award-winning movie by any means but that doesn't mean it isn't entertaining. Its a very neat twist on an old fairy tale. The cast is great & the story is fun. It's what its meant to be....just 90 minutes of entertainment. It has action, suspense, love, witchcraft & a** kicking. I enjoyed it. It isn't for little kids b/c of nudity but it is worth a watch if you like these types of movies! Enjoy!!

Go in with low expectations and you won't be disappointed.

Last night, I agreed to go see Hansel & Gretel, reluctantly. Before going, I looked up the rottentomatoes page and saw it only got a 15 percent fresh rating. That's pretty bad. Even Van Helsing got a 22%. So, the bar was set pretty low.

I didn't hate the movie. It was entertaining and I don't consider it a total waste of money and time. The soundtrack was cheesy at times and the rest of the time it was techno/rock. The acting was alright. There's was nothing hugely moving about any of the performances. I really like the art direction. The look of the witches were pretty awesome. The troll reminder me of Bluto from Labryinth in his mannerisms and speech. The amount of gore and nudity was fine with me. As far as the plot is concerned, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't anything groundbreaking.

I liked the movie more than I liked Van Helsing, definitely. I think it's something that can wait to rent on video.

    Good Re-telling.

I rate this a B+. I liked that they re-imagined the story and brought humor to it. Good action sequences. However I must caution there are a moe than a few F-bombs if you are planning on taking pre-teens. Overall quite enjoyable.

Think Dusk Til Dawn with Witches.

My husband and I went to see this for a belated Valentines date movie and both enjoyed it. Unlike some of the other reviewers, we weren't looking for a serious period piece--heck, it's Hansel and Gretel, for goodness sake. The humor was campy and the violence was certainly not appropriate for the younger set (my seven year old will NOT be seeing this movie). That being said, it had a steampunk vibe similar to Van Helsing, lush landscape, and gorgeous actresses that certainly served as eye candy. All in all, a fun romp that made for a great night out.

    Great entertainment

    by zcw9816

Thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Good cast, good writing, the set lighting was bad at times making it difficult to tell what ws happening on screen, but still a very entertaining distraction for an afternoon. I will be recommending this to my friends.

    GOOD MOVIE

I ENJOYED THE MOVIEN VERY MUCH. IT WAS GREAT AND FILLED WITH ACTION. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT FOR SMALL CHILDREN OR CHILDREN UNDER 13, THE VIOLENCE IS VERY GRAPHIC.

    Horrible movie

    by

The acting is horrible, the dialogue is something to be desired, and the story is not what I thought it was going to be. It just didnt fit the movie.......and it didnt add up at the end.

Lots of gruesome violence and the occasional curse word.

    Fairy tale or Nightmare?

What could have been a fun, interesting twist on the fairy tale became a graphic gore-fest a la Freddie Kruger. There is no point in talking about acting, plots or anything else. I am not particularly squeamish and I found it hard to watch. If movie making has come to this people will stay home and rent something, anything, better.
