Really liked it! Would watch again-

    by

We liked it! But we like those cheesy movies, like Twlight(THIS IS WAY BETTER), Van Helsen,.
Will watch part 2 , if they make it.
R for the "F word" about 5 times.

    Hansel & Gretel

Nice entertainment for a rainy afternoon, but if you don't see it, you haven't missed much.
Fun. Get it when it comes out on DVD. Not really worth paying movie prices to see it. Great for tweens and teens. Imaginative take on the fairy tale.

    Gotta see it now!

Someone gave it a SO-SO rating and stated ".let's face it, back in that time period I don't think that the 'f' bomb would have been part of the language of the day." UMMMMMMMMMM come on guys, we all saw the trailers! I don't think in that era there were Witches with MACHINE GUNS EITHER or a gingerbread house or a hansel or a gretel!!! Hahahahahahaha Not only was the review so laughable, now I just want to go to see if any of it could even be considered realism! LOL Its a story about Hansel and Gretel with a Van Helsing spin, the kids escape being baked and then find futuristic weapons to hunt evil kid eating Witches! OF COURSE IM IN! :) :) :) If this doesn't take my mind off of the bad economy NOTHING WILL.

    Waste of potential

    by

It could have been a good money, but it contained far too much pointless profanity, way too much gore and viritually no plot. The nudity was both so pointless and so unexpected that it took away from the movie (Something uncharacteristic of boobies). The plot is shallow and the acting is terrible (save for Renner). In the end it wasn't worht the money I paid.

    Great Movie

    by

At first I though it was one of those movies that I though would be worst then I though it would be. But It was already 75 percent of the way through and I was laughing and enjoying the every moment. If you haven't seen it go see it. I will be seeing it again.

    Oh, no

I tend to like sci-fi, fantasy, action, historical and the like. This film butchers all the genres except horror, perhaps...except everyone knows what's coming next, it's just gore. Not funny enough to be campy, not self-indulgent enough to be clearly showing they get how bad it is. Not funny. No plot line. Almost everyone in the theatre (not many) were grumbling on the way out. My date said it was the worst movie they'd ever seen about midway through...and it didn't improve.

    Just some fun

    by

Sometimes I think people expect too much from films like this. We're not going to see Shakespeare, folks. We're going for the action, and this film delivered that quite well. It's an enjoyable romp with a good cast and an amusing twist on the H&G story. If you're looking to just shut down your brain for a bit and have a bit of a giggle, go indulge in this film!

Waiting to buy ii on Blu-ray

    by

.Went to see this movie in 3D,it was great fun. Actually very good although not for the kiddies, strictly adult entertainment. Go see this one. The witches were especially brutal and not like any witches we knew listening to the story as children. The movie was just long enough and the 3D was awesome, arrows flying everywhere. My son and i had a great time watching this movie as we were also dodging the arrows flying through the theater.

One of the best movies I have seen

    by

This is one of the best movies that I have seen in a long time. I usually do not pay the ridiculous prices of the theaters but this was an exception. The graphics were amazing! As well as the makeup and costume designs. Everything looks real, this was definitely a big budget movie considering all of the effects. I would not bring the kids, a lot of in good nature swearing with the F bomb but it did not ruin the movie. There is 1 nude seen where some TNA are shown but nothing jaw dropping. I would go back to see this movie, you will not regret it.

A movie I'd see again read the rest on the tipsy-ink.com blog

I love this movie & I'm usually the first to nit pick at movie based on fairy tales or books. It was a continuous pace, no boring lag time & it had a lot of action sequences. I seriously love the little stuff like "sugar sickness" & the way they both got there assess kicked. Even tho a lot of the story line is predictable, it doesn't take away from it. It was so well done you barely had time to register your victory at being right. The actors were very likable as their characters but I must admit that at times the chemistry between the 2 main actors bordered on awkward. During a couple of scenes I didn't feel the brotherly sisterly love, instead I was left sitting there feeling a tad uncomfortable & thinking they might have been better suited for a different storyline or different characters. Not to say Jeremy Renner wasn't a great Hansel or that Gemma Arterton was the best damn Gretel yet but I noticed my friend and I awkwardly glancing at each other thru certain scenes between the 2.

    Loved it!!

The movie really good. I was surprised. I thought it would be cheezy but it was full of action and comedy too. The special effects were well done and the witches were pretty awesome.

Pretty good movie all around (once I got past the modern weaponry in this old world story). Everyone did well in the show but the credit really goes to Famke Jansson. Her character really made the movie fun but a little scary too.

    Eh.

Fun movie. Nothing else, think Van Helsing with more gore and cursing. Weak plot, Jeremy Renner was the only actor that I saw on the screen who was acting, and a very short film. Remember when seeing it, silly humor and close up action, hard to see whats going on, its an MTV movie after all.

    Good action movie

    by rtnyc

Overall, this was a good action fantasy movie with emphasis on action. The storyline was rather interesting (in a good way) with a nice spin on the "future" Hansel and Gretel as witch-killing bounty hunters. The anachronistic use of modern day automatic weapons set against the backdrop of medieval times is very odd. That said, the special effects, magic, and fight scenes are pretty good. The nudity seemed out of place as was the language (did certain cuss words exist back then?) Definitely do not take the kids to see this movie. I was surprised to see over 20 junior high-aged children in the audience. Don't look for a meaningful storyline in this movie. It's just action, violence, blood, and gore, which slightly exceeded my expectations in that respect.

    It's ok

    by koda446

The story line isn't all that bad but if they would have taken out the needless nudity and use of the F word. Besides that it wasn't a bad movie.
