    Great gruesome adult movie

    by

I love this adaption of Hansel and Gretel, it has a lot of adult humor in it and LOTS of gruesome killing/fighting. I definitely recommend everyone go see it at least once.

    Lots of action

If you're seeing this movie purely for entertainment then you are already on the right track. Its definitely a different take on the Grimm's tale but its a good one. I love Jeremy Renner and he doesn't disappoint in this film. But I think Gemma's Gretal overshadows him. She was really good in this movie and fun to watch. One dim spot is that its predictable but you sort of forget that with all the action scenes. At least until you get to the end and then you're like, "Oh yeah....I knew that would happen". But, they leave it open for a sequel that I will definitely watch. I just might wait for it on DVD instead of the theater experience.

Hansel and Gretel creative twist to the story

Like the movie full of action. I really like the twist from the original story book Hansel and Gretel.
It is more then candy in a house. Creative characters in the story. I enjoyed the story.

    Hunsel and Gretel

Went to see it today and it was awesome! I loved it. It was really good and I think they should do a part 2. Its not for kids, so don't take the kids. ITs adult movie only. Must see movie! Go see it!

    Just okay

    by

What you see in the trailer is what you get.

The good: the action is plentiful and humor is present throughout the movie (although I wouldn't call it funny). The film is visually interesting.
The bad: performances are mediochre and it the feel of the film is clear that of being filmed on a set. The story is predictable.

If you are looking for an actiony diversion, you might give Hansel and Gretel a try. If you are looking for quality film-making or consistently good performances you may need to look elsewhere.

    Yawn

Definitely a new twist on the fairy tale, but ... didn't love it. Don't know what I was expecting, but just didn't do it for me. Slightly entertaining but mostly boring. Kinda spoofy. A little corny. Somewhat predictable. A pinch of gory. Glad I had a free ticket.

about as ridiculous as you expect

I didn't go in expecting an Oscar worthy movie, so I was not disappointed. The entire movie was incredibly ridiculous, but I went with my sister and a friend and we enjoyed the movie and experience thoroughly. I would recommend seeing it if you want to laugh and see some action.

    Great action, bad writing

    by

I have to say that I went to see this more out of wish fulfillment than anything. I mean, the fairy tale is one of my favorites and I really wanted to see Gretel as more of a strong female character. While we do see that she is take charge and independent, the story centers on her pining for meaning and loss of parents. Once you get past the fact that this strong woman runs to her brother to solve problems or needs to be saved no less than 3 times in this movie, you have a story of Gretel coming of age to understand what she is; apparently more powerful than she understands, but reluctant to use said power for unknown reasons.

Hansel has a love interest that is barely explored. A fanboy arises out of nowhere to join the band with no questions as to motive. Insulin shots for Hansel's diabetes as a plot device?

There is plenty wrong with the movie, however if you are looking to kill 90 minutes and want to see some wicked fights, go see it. Do not expect character development.

    Hansel & Gretel Wich Hundters

This ain't yo' mama's fairy tale!
This feature length film Directed by: Tommy Wirkola, with Jeremy Renner as Hansel, Gemma Arterton as Gretel and Famke Janssen, Muriel the witch is awesome! This is the reason I go to the movies. The plot, action and special effects are explosive like a well-choreographed ballet on screen!

I will go see this movie again!!!

    action packed fairy tale

This was a really good movie, a little more blood and guts than I expected but really good none the less. I loved the special effects and the characters, plus the movie length was just right. Not for your younger kids to see but anyone over 16 will probably be fine with it.

    Great Flick

Don't look for the cure to Cancer in this movie! It was fun, and a great take on Hansel and Gretel! Loved the action and the unique take on all new action fighters. I love the fact that they actually cussed in the movie and didn't try to weigh it down with old style speech. They actually say F**K!!! It's awesoime! It kept things fresh and fun. Definitely a good flick! Very entertaining!

    Hansel & Gretel

The classic fairy tale? The mix of Old And New was entertaining, being type II diabetic myself We both(my fiancee') got a major giggle out of that one,Good vs Evil, and it was humorous at times,You always get the I've seen this one before feeling, but I guess that was what they were going for,It was the comic book heroes,vs the storybook villains...I didn't expect too much of this movie,But it was fun to watch on a Saturday morning, reminded me of my childhood days, with a bowl of cereal on the floor watching cartoons...Could Edward have been Fred Flintstone?:)

Time I will not get back

I went to it and after seeing it I thought this is 90 minutesof my life I will never get back. It was stupid with Hansel being a diabetic from eating to much candy to the weapons they used in it. It was like they ran out of ideas so they thought we will just add "WITCH HUNTER " to the end of a fairy tale and make a movie.

    Hansel and Gretel

    by 1stock1

This is a movie for adults olny.Violence and adult language are prominent througout the film. The special effectes, makeup and film editing were really quite good. The story and some of the action that takes place, is both anachronistic and laughable in places. So, if you you need to excape reality for 1 and 1/2 hours, this movie might fit the bill.Out of 4 stars I would giv this film 2 stars.I would say that Jeremy Renner was offered a ton of money to do this movie and it is not The Hurt Locker by a long shot.
