    Gangster Squad

Do not listen to the critics on this one! It is a really fun movie with a lot of action! The LA scenary was cool and the characters compelling! Spend the $$ on this one -- you will want to see it on the big screen.

A Bit Cartoonish Of Gangster Movies Made Long Ago But Worth Seeing.

On screen talent (aka actors or talking mannequins...) tend to overdo it now and again. I'd say that's true in the extreme of Penn's performance here. Goslin and Brolin, along with a few other familiar faces bring credibility and color to an otherwise dull screenplay, whose plot that has been done so many times it's a cliché. Still, Emma Stone definitely steals the show here, despite Penn's hamming it up. All in all it's not a bad film. And as for all those who cry foul at the violence, apparently they've not seen Django or about a dozen other ghoulishly violent films exhibited commercially this year alone. It?s becoming alarmingly common place. But if you don't like it, the sure fire way to press your opinion is by voting with your pocketbooks. For all others, taken in the spirit it was made, I?d say it's worth the ticket price just as an adult diversion alone. This is a film to bring you back to reality from that holiday fantasy hangover too. See it. You won't be disappointed.

Listen to the Fans, Ignore the Critics

This was one of the best gangster movies I've ever seen. If I watched movies every day and had to write about them I'm sure my taste and ratings for films would probably change, noticing many of the films nuances, influences of "those that count", interpretations and such. Being that I am a weekend movie goer like most fans, I'm strictly out for the entertainment value and the acting. Sean Penn was a natural mob boss. I liked all of the individual characters and felt they all came across as being very believable; but what do I know, I'm just a fan! The film had a good combination of character development and action, with never a dull moment.

    Boom Boom!!!

This was definitely a great movie to watch!! The critics have NO clue on what they are talking about with these bad ratings. It was a great and enjoyable film. One thing I always ask myself when leaving the movie theater is "would I watch this again" and "would I buy this on Blu Ray/DVD." The answer to my own question for this movie is YES!! I absolutely see myself buying this movie and watching it again. Not a film for the whole family, but definitely a film you don't want to miss.

    Disappointment

This movie was a gangster film gone wrong from start to finish. There was no set up to Cohen's life and his running of LA nor Brolin's character, both of which would have been vital to the development of the plot. The dialogue is a miix of cheesy fifties slang and intelligible screaming matches that make no sense. There is absolutely no way to follow the sequence of events in this film. I have fairly extensive knowledge of Mickey Cohen and his crime life and I could not keep up at all. The directing was horribly done, from the camera angles to the ridiculous machine gun violence (which overcompensated for lack of substance) and the writing gave the actors no room to succeed. I'm was extremely disappointed in this movie because it had all the potential with great actors and a riveting gangster story line that is unique from those before it, but the result was abysmal. I shudder to think what made Sean Penn, a respectable actor and director think that this should be in his filmography.

    Gangster Squad

Loved the film. The acting was great. Didn't like RG's accent.
The cinematography was authentic. This film is not for kids under 13.
    Brolin is an action hero!
