Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

This movie is OK for seniors,a lot of them were chuckling in the theater. I almost fell asleep in the beginning.
Acting was great with classic actors! Scenery & colors in India was beautiful.
Wish I would of waited for the DVD.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Many thanks to Barrington AMC for even carrying this movie - our local Crystal Lake theaters are not showing it. We loved this film!! We thought the acting and directing were top-notch and the cinematography was great - loved all the color, sights and sounds, could almost smell the smells. Much to be learned about relationships in this film. We were very pleased to see seniors in movie roles - it seems to be rare these days. We think this film would be most appreciated by adults, but enjoyed by anyone who has done any traveling to foreign lands. For what it is worth, the 4pm show had a pretty much filled theater, mostly senior citizens. Hope theaters get the message!

Great movie!

My husband and I loved this movie! It had everything you want in great movie...even a bit of mystery. You really get to know the characters and grow to love a few of them. It had a lot of laughs and more color and beauty from the settings that your eyes can hold.

I highly recommend it!

The BEMH is Engilish gold. a great cast wonderful settings, and pure english tongue in check dialogue. loved it the second time I saw it as well.

A wonderfully heart warming film

Wife and I attended the 12:20pm matinee with what looked to be 3/4 full house of retired folks. We all seemed to like the film and its message about change. Change has to be dealt with at all ages and not just in ones senior years. Exotic Marigold delivers that message with laughter and pathos. Worth seeing even if paying full price!

Superb ensemble cast...not an explosion or computer generated image in sight!

Brilliant cast, beautifully filmed and scored and a well balanced script with just the right amount of humor and pathos. Sentimentality is kept to a minimum, although a movie with retirees cast adrift into an exotic locale cannot escape a bit of emotional excess. Maggie Smith's character begins as a cliché, evolves into a more well rounded characterization and finishes with some good moments. But it is Judi Dench at the center with beautifully constructed voiceover readings of her blogs that provide transitions from scene to scene, storyline to storyline. A must see for anyone over 50...and for those of any age looking for an alternative to bingo games and tee times as aspirations for retirement.

Glad I saw this!!!

Wow.......so glad I spent 2 hours watching this great movie. This one was so good I already want to watch it again. My 81 year old mother thought it was wonderful. I am 48 and also found it to be wonderfully smart and entertaining. A must see!!!!

One of the best movies...ever!

Few movies make my famous Favorite Movie collection filled with movies I can watch over and over and over again as if I never saw it before, but this one will be amongst them when the DVD comes out. I absolutely loved this movie and will highly recommend it to you and all my friends. The acting was on point. The choice of location to shoot the film was perfect and "real." It all made me believe the story.

Warm, funny, sad, and sophisticated.
An adventure worthy of the remarkable cast!
I empathize with them. Life is not easy, but we just can't give up.
I highly recommend it.

No Flash but a lot of Heart

A very enjoyable, heartwarming film Not overbearingly mushy , just a story about real people, in this case senior citizens and how they adjust and deal with the changes that age brings to their lives. There's humor, a bit of romance, and a great cast, including Judi Dench, Tom Wilkinson, Maggie Smith, and Dev Patel. I heartily recommend this film!

'Marigold' sweet but don't go looking for comedy.

Very sweet movie with some excellent performances, as you'd expect from this cast. To me, the movie gives the impression of having left some of the plotline on the cutting room floor; there's a bit of a disjointed feel to the story developments; some things weren't explained. Still, a good investment of your time.

TAKE A TRIP TO SEE THIS MOVIE...

A great cast delivers light hearted but poignant insight into life issues, from the perspective of
mature and aging strangers, who find themselves joined together in a colorful foreign place.
Many moments of humor blended with fine character development and a brief travel log of India.

Can be a good feeling classic you will want to watch again in the future...

Amazing movie

This movies showcases so many emotions you can pick and choose what you want to focus on. Age, regret, love, finding love, holding on to love, great themes all in a chaotic setting of India.

Great Movie must see and also a lesson to prepare for the stages of life and not get caught up in the day to day.

Hope you all will enjoy this movie as much as I have.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is just that

The best "small" movie I've seen in a long time. The casting is superb, the dust of India beautifully photographed...and what fun to finally hear a literate script.
